- It's been just over a year since we first tried playing a Pan Flute on the channel, and honestly, it didn't go well.
So this week we're revisiting the instrument and trying a bigger, more expensive, and hopefully better Pan Flute!

That panflute is in the key of G Major rather than C Major, so the F note is actually F# (F Sharp) rather than F Natural. To sound better playing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star", try starting on G rather than C.
That explains why I thought it was out of tune.
Yeah, to me it sounded a bit lydian.
This one is actually way better than the first one the slider thingy reminds me of a vacuum cleaner for some reason

Us there any difference in sound quality using plastic pan flute instead of bamboo?
May I ask what camera you used in this video? Looks do good.
Hint: to play smoke on the water, start on an A, E or D. It makes it a bit easier, but it'll contain at least 1 sharp or flat (black) note however you play it, so it is impossible to do on an instrument like this that only has the natural (white) notes. It's still fun though!
If you don't use the helping thing you can actually play flats by changing the angle of blowing on it

It's not a panflute if you don't have to form an embouchure. The bottoms of the pipes are even open... This probably won't be able to recreate the timbres of an actual panflute.
It's basically just some kind of polyrecorder.
Most of the songs had a bit of a Lydian tinge to them.

Check my lesson How to blow any of them unless they are probably the only difference I’ve played this thing for 40 years so if they’re badly made if your technique is lousy I can fix that real quick but it looks like a nice video that you have

Notes are way off and out of tune.. Flute needs proper retuning from what I hear. Anyone else hear the same thing? Inside each pipe is a piece of rubber blocking plug at the exit bottom and it can be moved by using a thin wooden Meat skewer stick with blunt square ends (not pointed). Buy or get yourself a clip-on note guitar tuner and attach it to the pipes and blew each note and take a reading of that note played. You can push that piece of rubber in and out inside the pipes till the right note is being played for each pipe. Do each pipe from the lowest, right up to the highest note It's a wee bit tricky in getting the note exactly right on how you want it played, but the pipes are definitely tunable doing one at a time, till each pipe gives off the right note you wish it to give off while playing. The pipes are very much tunable so each pipe plays the right note you want it to play. Good luck.
