For those who are interested in the back story:
New Albion is a city that resembles a Neo-Victorian London. Annabelle McAlistair is a lunatic who managed to bring back Jasper, the man whom she loved since her childhood.
She realizes that Jasper is nothing more than a Doll now - part corpse, part machine. She regrets her choice and deactivates him, deciding to move on instead of living in the past. Her journal on which she wrote down the formula to bring back the dead, however, survives...
Thanks but we're not supposed to know the backstory yet. This is just the opening.
What he said. This is just the intro.
It has nothing to do with London
It resembles not it. @@Matrix-e8j
If you're listening to this, please listen to the whole rest of the album, and then the following two albums. They. Are. Gorgeous.
Ok I will
@@Flymerick I bought the entire album early this morning 👍
Dont forget to mention the fourth new albion. The room beneath new albion.
Gee, are there four musicals now?
done that. gorgeous it more like 60/100 for all three. but i also study music to much so i see it in a crit way.
just experienced such a rush of happiness from hearing this for the first time after a while that I had to get up and dance around the room
while squealing and giggling
at 3:20am
Why is this so good? And why do I discover this only now?
+Another RUclips Watcher Becasue Time and stuff
+Another RUclips Watcher its' a hard genre to make good.
+insanebotv21 I agree 100%!
because... you know... consumerism and stuf... ignorace... society... that's why.
bianca ion yeah fight the...power
An intro that dosen't introduce the main character in the first minute is, by my meaning, a good intro.
No lie, the first verse had me incredibly hooked way back in 2013 when I first heard this. And now the very center of my D&D world is a city built on a bridge, the most advanced of its kind, spanning an entire ocean strait between a mountain range that cuts the entire sea in half. Their founding story? Two people who met up from either side of the world and debated with cards on philosophy until the city was built around them.
so to be clear...the mafia head is literally a self aware pathfinder character, right?
and the pilots' boss is basically Varys who learnt how to sing.
Albionist with you, this song is as hot as steam.

Great song!
+Noctus Syr coppied that shit didnt ya XD
Copulate in doorways, Wow, A gross thought. Did that much information really have to be provided about New Albion?
@NextPageGaming: What, you think it's strange that he highlights both the amazing and the more vulgar sides of the city? It's all just to give an overall image.
I know, Its just I figured sex in doorways didn't have to be added into the vulgar part, Vulgar more as the thieves trying to steal the pearls but came up unperturbed
Tercymus thanks for the lyrics
this songs was catchy the first the time but i didnt understand it i listened it 3 more times and i can say this song is not just catchy but intresting
Very interesting, charming...then one hears the dark tones laced within it.
Nice artwork too!

anabell is savage as fuck
I dunno. She doesn't even go Frankenstein; she puts dead spirits in mechanical dolls.
Nyerguds i just realize his son edgar is more savage.
"
Angel is savage as well!😂
CariagaXIII She seems chill af
Geez, you think they ought to do something about Annabelle McAllister?
I'm going to listen to this full opera to find out, and then I'll tell you what they do about Annabelle Mcallister.
Bet you didn't think I would come back did you? Anyhow (SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!!)
Annabelle Mcalistair resurrects the corpse of a boy she had a crush on (his name is Jasper), but he is basically a lifeless doll with Jasper's soul trapped inside, which makes him very unhappy. Annabelle gives up on him and destroys her work (or so we are led to believe). She gets married to another man, and has a son, who has a son named Edgar, who finds his grandmother Annabelle's formula for bringing back the dead, and starts a business resurrecting peoples dead. This goes sour as he tries to get one of the undead dolls elected for government, and uses them to broadcast a single propaganda song over, and over again, until a girl goes insane and kills herself leaving the lyrics to the song as her suicide note. Angry people blame the dolls, and burn them all. Martial law is put into effect to control the riots, and having an undead doll is now punishable by death. Jasper now sits in a room with Priscilla (Edgar's daughter possibly? I can't quite recall properly) playing a never ending game of cards. Priscilla decides that keeping Jasper locked up is cruel, and also that she loves him. She calls the cops on herself, and they are both killed. One soldier, however, does not shoot. Seeing the look of love on her face made him unable to kill her. He vows to bring the martial law governance of New Albion down, leaving us at the end of the final act just as we see the spark of revolution.
I may have skipped, or overlooked some things, but that's the gist of the story. It's really quite good; you should listen to the whole thing.
Oh my goodness.
Nicholas Musser
Cassandra Gonzalez what?
I've been sort of afk for a while. WTH happened to Wiremux? Why is all playlists gone?? Great that you all made new ones, ty for that, but wth happened?!?
Several hundred years before
A gambler and a monk embarked
On a long trek through the endless prairies of the North
They had a fierce debate
About ¬¬Gd and chance and fate
and to resolve it agreed a game of cards indeed be played
The game went on all day
And through the next and next they played
And around them a shelter was built to shield the rain
A street around the shelter formed
Then a church, a house, a bar
And that is how the city of New Albion was born
New Albion today
With bustling streets, machines, cafes
And the nice, the wise, the eccentric and insane
The Mafia’s run by
A red haired dwarf with just one eye
Whose affairs he decides with a pair of silver dice
Over the Zeppelin Union Pilots
A castrati boss presides
And we hear his song each afternoon as he flies by
There’s prisons made of lead
And gargoyles of iron shreds
And Annabelle McAlistair who’s raising up the dead
Annabelle McAlistair who’s raising up the dead
The Lodge on Ashland Street
Is where the Alchemists Guild meets
And to join you have to craft a glass pearl from a young girl’s dream
A group of thieves they heard
Broke in the lodge to steal the pearls
But In the morning they were found there sitting staring unperturbed
The twilight fog they say
An aphrodisiac contains
Nonsense, but yet they copulate in doorways anyway
There’s inventors and inbred
In upper class it’s been said
And Annabelle McAlistair who’s raising up the dead.
Annabelle McAlistair who’s raising up the dead.
this is extremely calming to me, i have no clue
The most Tim Burton song I've ever heard.
PlasmaExplosive You like Tim Burton=I like you
QrangeJuice I like you too!
Man, if you could fall in love with only a voice this would be it
A wonderful song with an amazing story behind it. Steampunk Opera at it's finest!
I had a strange little steam punk phase in seventh grade where I'd only listen to stuff like the cog is dead and the steam powered giraffe...discovered this album then and it still slaps
I like the music it's very good it feels like the waltz with steampunk ⚙️🕰️ love it Everytime
And thus America existed. None of this Christopher Columbus shit, naw, we came straight from old Scotland via Zeppelins. :D
TheAetherpunk yes. Not the ones I'm thinking up though
Also, as someone of scotch-Irish heritage, I agree with you
Hee I didn't know that I would like steampunk. How nice, I see a new world to explore opening. Thank you!
I feel exactly like that, And I have already so much ideas to write about Steampunk worlds :3
Would this place look like London or France? Because the lyrics sound like London but the violin seems more French.
Most likely England
Erwin Estrada Albion is the original name of Great Britain (the biggest of the British Isles).
@@TheMrNalsur not exactly the original name, that's more likely some celtic or even older name, old albion is I believe a term used AFTER the island was already named Britannia by the romans, as a method to refer to it in ancient times.
EDIT: It was made during the time that the Arthurian legends were created.
En realidad, el ritmo se asemeja a un tango argentino
FREAKING LOVE THISSSSSSSS
Melodies to thrive to while depressed
I simply fail to express how amazingly exquisite this kind of music , and especially this song , is . It's simply marvelous ! It travels your mind to different dimensions , ages , worlds , it is simply flawless amazing art ! I have used it an inspiration countless times when i want to draw or "create" art in general . I simply don't know how to describe it , amazing , simply amazing .
Such beauty in one song, the full opera is very great.
...and then there's Annabelle Mcallister
+Ben Masky (proxy) Who's raising up the dead. :D
+Hido Kanashima but nobody notices because they're too busy playing cards (or building a city around the players) XD
+Hanto Newheart you right XD
with her clever head
all of your work is wonderful. this could easily stand on Broadway
I just found you on Spotify last year.. and man I love everything your putting out. Plz keep it up!!
More of you and this voice, it's an amazing combination
This song remembers me so much on "The Glass Scientists" and I literally have no idea why
(For those whom unfortunately don't know what that is: it's an amazing Web Comic!)
But anyways after all that's an great song!
I don't even know how much I listened to this 😅
This just got one of my favourite Songs:D
I also hate Monday...
The whole album tells quite the dark story. Those who haven't listened to it, you should.
+BlackManiaGaming This song is actually about the process of LSD
+BlackManiaGaming I actually did just that based on your suggestion, and holy shit! this seriously needs to be adapted to a screenplay, I'd love to watch that performance live
Where can I?
Walamonga 1313 Try bandcamp, you can listen for free a few times before it asks you if you want to buy it.
+BlackManiaGaming or just RUclips new Albion 1 2 3 4 and 5
Just wonderful! The music fills my lazy self with the energy of steam! ☺
It's a song that could raise the dead! (with some help of Annabelle)
Clever, really clever
I need a steampunk game !
+Théo Mermet non

Dishonored. Dishonored 2 coming out November too.
if you got low specs like me then play sunless sea
Rise of Legends (2006), quite an excellent game. Especially, the Vinci elite unit, King Leviathan , is awesome!
Hope to direct my 1st show and this as a opera some time next year. All ready have the play-write's permission, script, backing tracks. Just have to wait until November 15 for the Artistic Director to make a decision if i can direct it.
instant love
New Albion is the name a British explorer called the west coast of North America, a specific area too that no one is too sure of, though it expected to be Northern California. Recent speculations (2001) theorise that it could possibly have been Vancouver Island.
So what if I wanted to do a small musical using these songs? Would I have to buy the rights or how does it work? I'm new to making my own productions and I thought this could be a nice start.
Contact Paul on bandcamp or facebook c:
Great,dark and Lovely....!!!...!
missing a nice stage performance to
this song
there is one, two actually. search up Dolls of New Albion on RUclips and click the one by ded0burdun, there's one by Clockwork Hart but it's really bad in my opinion
its funny i found them shortly after a commented well auto found them
Thanks for posting this video! Thanks to it appearing on someone's playlist, I discovered first this series and then the rest of the New Albion performances. Each is stellar, and you should be commended highly! I, personally, feel that this is the strongest story - though my girlfriend prefers the New Albion Radio Hour. Please keep such amazing compositions coming!
its creepy how much of this song i know by heart.
whats her name again? coz i was looking for her over band but could not remember her name.
Paul Shapera. The Dolls of New Albion. I love this production so very much. You have created a masterpiece. I elevate up all the way to the ranks comparable to any works of A L W & R&H. It is fantastic. I enjoyed the low budgeted original production done in the back yard theater that is posted here on you tube. I believe the cast performed the songs as well as if they were on the master recordings. You should be very proud of this project. Thank you very much from this grateful fan.
Catchy, and an inspiration for any would be Steampunk fan.
I can't find the name of the singer
anyone can help ?
4 years late, but that’s Lauren Osborn :)
So glad I discovered steampunk music.
This is amazing
Y love your steampunk musique 👍
Is there a particular dialect being used by the cast? I feel like it's supposed to be some form of British, but I'm not sure.
are these from a movie or novel? Or they're just a album of steampunk themed songs?
This song can only be described as "Classic Steampunk"
if you are still listening to this
you have a good taste in music
have a great day and a great life
Does anyone know if there is an instrumental for the song?
As far as I know, there hasn't been a release. I'd so buy it if there was though
Love this song .So lovely dark.....
Fantastic song (and musical). Is there a book telling the story? If not there should be. I'd buy that!
Anyone else here because you tried finding Wiremux' "My Steampunk Song Collection"?
he deleted the video but now its a playlist
I know this by heart
The dolls are more like vessels for the lost souls than reanimated dead. They eventually become stylized in the make and model that the customer desires, but in the beginning they're just simple contraptions made of polished wood and gears.
From what I gather, the draw of the dolls is that you can sense the trapped soul within, you know it lives in this shell. Until the dolls are better attuned to movement and speech, it's a lot of projecting your own attributes upon it, like a stuffed animal.
Extremely good
Albion is another word for England (or at least part of it) so basically New England but London is the focus for a lot of steampunk shit because of the Victorians
or it could be just a reference to real world in this fictional world
@@riches3581
The second play has a reference to a couple of characters planning to buy tickets to go to the Tunisian coast, so it evidently takes place in some alternate Earth.
That clockface eye would be a nice contact lens for a costume party.
This is a perfect song for me
LOVE THIS MUSICAL. Wish I could see it in person, I really do. Bought the digital recording and I've listened to it so many time...
I've listened to the opera through many times, and eventually found the stage show they hosted on Vimeo (search for Dolls of New Albion if you're interested).
In the play, the dolls are represented by vaguely humanoid mannequins, more a functional shell for the trapped soul than a full automaton, though I'd bet Annabell could have created fully mechanical humanoids for the stolen souls if she hadn't found her conscience.
Why don’t more people know about this! It’s great.
It is a script for a Play/Opera which is still in production. I have no idea how far along it is in development, but I know the rest of the song is finished (25 songs total)
i bought the whole album with all the 4 acts.. and i dont regret it.. its playing up and down for about 2 weeks now x)
how is this so old?? it slaps so hard
oohhh love this!!!!
I don't even want to know what it was because I have no time to read me in, but it was awesome!
Brilliant!
Damn, this is good. Normally I listen to metalcore, alternative rock etc. I can play violin and drums, maybe I'll cover this song sometime :)
Fanatastic!
AWESOMENESS!!!
THIS IS TOO AMAZING OMG
It's also (with the "New" part added) the name for a British colony in what's now California. Thought you'd might like to know that.
i love this song BUT i have one question, who did win? gambler or the monk? i need to know
And thus came to pass the final hand came at last
But before it was played the Gambler’s heart it gave way.
Jester oh, good to know
i have a crush on this song 😳😳😳
Beautiful song !
Amazing!!!
Where can i get the lyrics to this.
A few comments below yours.
omg this is fucking great though
Isn't this the exact same piano melody to the Child of Light title track?
I am in love with this
Yes, huge.
This opera has existed for a while now, this is just the name of the first song after the overture so they won't change it. I have had many cases where I start writing something that I find out exists so I just change it a little.
Very interesting music. I hear references to Annabelle MacAllister, Glasgow and Paisley around 3/4 way through. Any chance the writer is from this area in Scotland?
This is brilliant!
something tells me this is something about fable (maybe because the game is based in a place called Albion.)
It really isn't, its part of an opera (The dolls of new Albion). And Albion is the oldest known name for the island of Great Britain. Used quite popularly in steam punk and fantasy culture
thank you for this infomation as it may come in useful.
blazex8 Albion was the south of England i think
Okay I am not sure as albion was an anglow state with many of the Viking settlers still in the north. ?
alba mostly means scottland but also all of great britain
I should have listened to this years ago!
SPAM THAT LIKE BUTTON!
+JonathanToolonie ..
Very good music ! :)
Am I mistaken or the rhythm it is based on is tango ?
Matou Miaou you aren't mistaken. It is based on tango
magnifique je l'écoute tout les jours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hard to believe the most of Shaperaverse was born here. I like how it started by raising up the dead and ended with portal to Heaven and time travels
Not much to say... other than this is the best thing I've heard in a long, long time.
do it for more hours its really good
