  • TAS on BIT.TRIP FLUX Perception (Tool Assisted Superplay/Speedrun (some call it superplay, some call it speedrun... so there's both xD))
This is for those who want to see perfect on every BIT.TRIP level, because it's somewhat irritating for me when it's not perfect.
    I c u but u no c me. :D

Soooo, Bit.Trip, and Flux in particular, had been one of my favorite "chill" games of all time. I only owned Flux, having bought it when it first was released on Wii. I had not really been able to buy the previous ones. The cutscenes made no sense to me, so I thought it was just some inscrutable meta nonsense that they threw into the game that only the developers knew about.
Well, a year ago, I started watching play-through videos of the entire Bit.Trip series. I started to realize there was a coherent story being told through the cutscenes between each level! Cool! It was the story of Commander Video from life to death, and beyond, with a couple of slightly off-canon trips in CV's adventure days.
So, I started to really just take in the whole story. When I saw that CV had actually died in the events immediately preceding Flux, it hit me in a way I wasn't expecting. I suddenly had a better understanding of what my favorite game in the series meant.
But, truly. CV's death hit almost as though I had lost one of my own family. I couldn't place why it bothered me so much. It didn't make sense. But, then, something truly unexpected happened.
    My uncle passed away.
In the middle of trying to figure out CV's story, and his passing, I was suddenly thrust into my own grieving experience. Bit.Trip was no longer some game about sitting, chilling to the awesome bips and bleeps with an incoherent story. It had inexorably been tied to my uncle's death, and had grafted itself in as part of my own process in dealing with grief.
Bit.Trip is now my uncle's epitaph. I never could have imagined this, and the feeling I get from it is soooo... Mixed...
I had to start asking myself questions. Why did I let a video game become a part of my experience when I have family? How could I let a game walk me through the grieving process when I have a wife. She doesn't approve of me playing games, so I have cut down dramatically, which is fine. I have spent enough years of my life with games. I don't mind moving on, but it causes me to wonder how much I really let my own family in to know who I am?
Commander Video died having let his emotions take him over. Am I in danger of falling into a similar fate?
I am grateful for the lesson learned, and I relish the time I spent grooving to the chill beats. Still, Bit.Trip shouldn't be the only resource I use to process my emotions for my uncle. Perhaps I should've learned the lesson to be present with my family sooner.
I have somewhere to be. Thank you for the experience. Like my uncle, I must let you go now.

fun fact: the forms CV encounters are actually a reference to the previous games in the series.
So it can be said that CV is experiencing the world from the outside with the rest of his memories

very incorrect. let me break it down for you
      - in beat, commandervideo is created
      - at the start of core, commandervideo is born
      - at the end of core, he realizes he' not the only person that exists
      - in the ID cutscene of void, CV is a jerk in social interaction
      - in the EGO cutscene of void, CV realizes that people will not hesitate to push back
      - in the SUPER-EGO cutscene of void, CV finds out how to not be a piece of shit
      - in the end of void, CV (im using the abbreviation of CommanderVideo from now on) has figured it all out and is ready to see what life has to offer
      - in impetus (runner), CV realizes that not everyone has his interests in mind with a new adversary known as the Timbletot
      - in triumph (runner), even at the face of adversity CV finds a way to push through and, well, triumph
      - CV finds a love interest (or maybe just a friend, i have no idea) aka C*G*V (commandgirlvideo)
      - fate is basically CV losing his shit and dies, figure the rest out in flux

@@VeraVoxel I didn't use TAS, I use a PS4 controller instead of a wii remote, I set the control tilt emulation in a joystick, that's why almost always the pad goes to the middle.
