As for the laughable comment about "needing a drummer", well the band have done quite well without one, Eldritch played drums on their first single and then the Doktor took over. To say they "Need a drummer", shows your ignorance and stupidity.

Andrew Eldritch has started to look like Richard O'Brien. That aside, this is definitely not the best performance of this song. He does get points for just carrying on over 40 years after the band started, but this performance is pretty lackluster. If you compare SOM at present to, say, Fields of the Nephilim, the latter have held up a bit better.
Nowadays, Eldritch looks like Rob Halford in the 2000's. It's a bit ironic i think. Agreed 100 % with what you said about FOTN. And i think that it's because Carl Mc Coy took care of his voice. Eldritch didn't.

Since the beginning of the 21st century, it is an interesting nuance as far as image is concerned, Andrew underwent a metamorphosis becoming his own logo, a caricature, he stopped being 'gothic', his sound is a degraded pop, very sad, it is far his great show at 'Royal Albert Hall', among others, we will keep those memories and forget this Mera Luna 2022.
I was a casual fan, beginning in 1986 hearing First...as a teenager in high school, Jr year. Was in college when FL and VT were released. And A slight case of over bombing GH album was great. I was living in AZ. Almost saw them with Public Enemy in 91 in Phoenix. They've not done anything since that era. Sound terrible now. Just another band like Blue Oyster Cult, any old act out there playing the hits to make money. Guess it's their right to do that, and mine to ignore. I'll stick with the records.

Without a bass the sound loses a lot of the original heaviness.
