A double COPO is twice as nice! This Camaro looks and sounds amazing, as well. Its car story and Mr. Makovich's efforts to track it down over the years until he could make it his own, is inspiring to me and probably to all of us in the car community, too. Thanks, Lou!
Hi TheGunfighter45acp, "A double COPO is twice as nice!" I like that comment! He knew what he wanted and stayed focused for sure. Happy to share this car with you. You're welcome, Lou
GM should be proud of themselves for creating such an awesome car that so many would never let them die in the crusher, their is no reason to believe that this automobile won’t be around in 2069.
When I was a kid, starting at 13 years old, I bought a 68 Malibu and hunted every swap meet and newspaper ad for parts to make it a poor man’s Super Sport. Tribute now, then a clone. Did that few times and was mostly influenced by my older brother who did own back to back true Super Sports. It’s funny how those SS emblems and parts seemed more valuable than gold to me way back then. And how now as an older gentleman I would actually much rather had the chance to put in a Central Office Production Order
Hi benzlick, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your car :-) Yes, our taste can change as we get older. Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Wow does that COPO sound awesome. Glad to hear Jeff is going to drive this car…just like Chevrolet intended! Love the ‘my car story’ that Jeff told. Great car, great story, great video. Thanks Lou!
Thank you for Commenting… always interesting another “ viewpoints “ ( language,cultures,distance,etc)..I was driving in 1962, era of 427 CHEVY, Ford 427 side oilers: I was driving 1966GALAXIE 500 XL /352/4 BBL/4 SPEED MANUEL *& improved greatly over ORIGINAL,! Anyways, great vehicle times in 1960-80!
The MN on the left cyl head is the engine code (427 special high performance with manual trans). If it has the original engine that will appear on the pad in front of the right cyl head. The engine info sticker on the core support has an engine code of CH which is a 375 horse 396 (see 5:31)! That is the CORRECT info sticker for a COPO 9561. They pulled 396 cars off the assembly line before engine and trans installation. X44 was the base exterior trim package (no w/o mdgs, no drip rail mdgs, no 1/4 panel ornaments, etc...) Beautiful car and story! I remember Prout Chevy growing up in Ohio, the "Prout Route"

Beautiful COPO. I love these special cars. COPO, Baldwin, Motion, Baldwin Motion. Would be amazing to own one but I think the anxiety of driving it on the roads would drive me insane LOL. Nothing like the sound of a big block loping and chopping like that one does. Thank you for sharing another awesome ride Lou. Take care.
The problem with most Camaros is that the VIN doesn't identify much. Usually just "V8". Engine block stamping, data tags, etc, get manufactured all the time. If it ain't in the VIN, just figure the odds...

I love the 69 COPO Camaros. This is so much better than a Z-28 to me. Some COPOs have the standard wheels with the hubcaps. I really like the Rally wheels so much better. Also, one of my favorite colors is olympic gold. What a car. Thanks!
G'day Lou, Double COPO, double the pleasure. Just the thought of being able to order such a muscle back in 1969 is mind blowing. Pales in comparison to todays car. Great story & great caretakers in Jeff. Thank you for Sharing Lou Cheers Louis Kats your number 1 Fan in Melbourne, Australia 🇦🇺 👍 🇺🇸

Hi Charles, Happy to read you enjoy this "Great car" :-) Time will tell what will happen with cars in the future, however I'm glad to share the ones you enjoy, Lou
I think that Olympic Gold was a special color, and different from the more common gold color they used then, which I can't remember the trade name of... Somewhere around 7th or 8th grade, '79 or '80, the '69 Camaro took over the Black and Gold '77-'78 Trans Am as my favorite car.
dThat's a beautiful restoration of a 1969 Copo Camaro my aunt Dorothy had a 1982 Camaro Z28 when her and my uncle Joe were dating think she had the car until 1989 when she became pregnant with my little cousin Joey and decided to trade in the Camaro for something a bit more family Friendly like maybe a Caprice or a Toyota Cressida grandma had bought her first Camry 6.5 weeks before baby Joey arrived And paid roughly $9,300 for the Camry resulting from a trade in and presidents day cash incentives
I know where there's a 69 copo in pieces guys sister bought it and he bought it from her. Was offered 60k in the late 90's for it and declined cars been stored since the 80's

$3760.00. NOW worth $376,000.00!👍
Am I close?? Huh?
I have no idea on car values.
i like camaros.
Happy to read you like Camaros :-)
There were only 69 COPOs produced that year. They cost a couple of $$$$thousand more than the BOSS 429, and any MOPAR with the 426 HEMI.
Hi Cobra Charmer, I did not know they cost more. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, Lou
Which paint company was used for Olympic gold paint? Clear coated?
Hmmm, not sure. Hoping a Viewer can share knowledge.
