My neighbor had a Springtime Yellow 64 Galaxie with a 61 390 and 4 speed. That car was vicious! His granddaughter was in the same grade as me and he enjoyed talking us to school in it. It had a 9 inch with leafs. He put the 427 long tubes with purple hornies and pipes out in front of rear wheels. That car was really gnarly. Her brother had a 65 Galaxie with the same engine and trans later. I rebuilt it for him. It had C0AE-D heads on it and whoever had it before put 2.11/1.6 valves in it and thinking about it the intake stems were 5/16 stem and flat faced. The factory may have done it. The left header had to be changed, so the guy who had them bought a 64 and they just traded, and they were perfect and the stainless pipes bolted right up, but Rick left off the mufflers and I put a 2x4,MR intake and a pair of Ford number carbs. A C8AX-D cam, solid and the matching springs. It idled so raunchy. The rpm was 1250, both carbs had T slots, and it was raunchy, but smooth. I t was dark green and a teardrop hood , it was a MR not a HR, but at 396 cubes, it would take a 375 hp 396 Chevelle. This Galaxie was really fast.
I'm a huge Ford fan and this not only wet my appetite it left me wanting more! The body work and panel fit was just perfect. Twin turbo 1000hp - W-H-A-T!?! If I had a spare half mil laying around that's the car I'd spend it on. Just great content Shawn, another home run!
I usually prefer original restorations of vehicles but this Ford is unbelievable! What a fantastic car. The turbo sound and the exhaust note during acceleration is one of a kind. Excellent job!!
The '64 Galaxy is one of the best looking cars to ever come out of the 60's. Add some of Ford's coolest stuff like a SOHC motor (enhanced with twin turbos) with tear drop hood and then Men In Black will be knocking on your door, zapping you with that memory thing and driving off with it before you can say "J" or "K".
I used to have a '63. Both the '63 and '64 are great looking cars, IMHO. The quality on them was amazing for a car in their price range. Ford had started a quality program in '60 and by the '63/'64 models it was really good. I you do not think so, compare them to a Chevy or Plymouth of the same years.
Much respect to those who were gifted with the ability to restore and straighten out old rides. Its like creating art or singing...not everyone can do it. Im not talking building motors im talking body work...beautiful beast of a car
Badass!!! Always been a huge 427 side oiler fan hence the old ford cars. Two dream cars is a cobra or a 67 fairlane, with a 427! A galaxy is up there on the list as well. When i was 12 years old i rode in an original 427 cobra!!! That was in 1977, lol but this old ford in video is an absolute beast!
My 64 had a 289 3 speed auto that was given to me at 14 back in 74 with a blown head gasket, we fixed it and it was my mom's car until I hit 16, I do miss that car
Saw this one on Sema last year.. The whole package is sick. A galaxy wich you don't find on any street corner. Then throw in an ultra rare cammer motor. And if thats not enough, put on a pair of turbo's 😍
@@AutotopiaLA Totally agree. It was even a little dusty wich i almost found a little sad. Like it was just a spot they had left over for the car. Keep up the nice vids and greetings from Holland.
I am a GM guy ( I own a 64 Rivie) but the more I see Fords like this the more I am liking it. Those big meats in the back are killer and I love the dog too.
I love the look and sound, now if I could get one with a modern fuel injection, hydraulic disk breaks front and back, modern power steering, modern sealed battery, everything run off a serpentine belt, turbo charged, super charged and posi trac or duel rear wheel drive and rust resistant aluminum frame and body : ) am I asking to much ; ) The first car I drove, as a 13 year old, in 1969, was my old man's 64 galaxy 352 v-8. He decided, after I stole a 68 Pontiac and crashed it, I better learn how to drive. Those cars were beautiful but you had to be, ( by today's standards) a mechanic to keep them running. Routinely check and keep spare hoses, clamps, check and service battery, engine oil, transmission oil, coolant, spare thermostat, check timing, (have timing light) carry tools, spare air filter etc. et'al. Just from memory, I'm missing a ton of stuff, I know, tire pressure gauge, patch kit, the list never ends, and for God sake, don't forget -Any- seals when rebuilding the carburetor !!! Those were the days, if you were a piston head and had a place and time to work on em, but most people had to go to work and didn't have time to fool with a broken down car. Love the video and trip down memory lane : )
What a beauty. Andy and Barney could get around Mayberry in style with this slick ride. The new modern instrument panels are sharp looking and a very cool touch. I like them in a lot of the old cars.
Man, that land yacht just oozes power.....in all my years around hot cars I've only gotten to really look over a SOHC one time. What an engine! I wish that they would have gotten serious at Ford about this engine and made a zillion of them. Many times I've wondered if a gear drive for the cams would have been a much better set up for this engine. I suppose that the cost to produce these SOHC engines must have been astronomical even back in the day. Ahhhh.....what could have been...... Beautiful and powerful rig. Thanks so much for posting! That paint looks a mile deep.
Saw this car in the movie Legend for the first time the other night and was over the moon about it i mistook it for a thunderbird and its kinda ironic because my next door neighbor owned one of these just in a baby blue which didn't really have much of an effect on me but man in black especially with the black wheels and chrome caps it makes it look sinister ... this one you got here is a beast, can't even imagine how much money it took to get this thing built ... thanks for sharing.

That’s one bad ass Ford Galaxie! Very similar to the Ford Thunderbolt which I love both of them! They are big but powerful for the size and weight of both cars.

Yeah, that was when I finally met Jim and asked him to shoot with us. With this kind of power he didn’t seem worried about the weight. Some carbon would always be cool though.

Not much of a Ford guy but...hot damn that’s beautiful
You don’t have to be a Ford guy for this one, just a car guy.
The only thing Ford on it are the badges...at least it'll last.
Yeah, not much of a 'Ford', either... even a GM tranny...
this is the reason why ford guys are ford guys and not chevy guys!!

All that fine machinery and I spotted a Pinto up on the lift. That was my first car in high school.
