Please pray for me, I have had really low self esteem since i was 13 and im 21 right now. I battle with this everyday, and sometimes it gets overwhelming and controlls my life. I try to trust Allah but sometimes the fear wins and I really struggle with my ability to do things. I think this comes from my childhood and also because im a sensetive person but, I dont want to blame anyone I just want to conquer my fears and create great things for the future cause I really believe that without my low self esteem I could spread the word of Allah and become a great human being. Please pray for me, I pray everyone with this problem gets it solved by the will of Allah and Inshaallah we can become the best possible human beings and then die a peaceful death, and I hope we reach Jannatul Firdaws Ameen!

Anyone wanting tools to implement can do the following.
Wake up every day and tell yourself these things.
    1. Allah loves you and He chose you, with your flaws and all, for Islam and this is the greatest honour in our self-worth
    2. Fortify your imaan with the morning duas which incorporates seeking protection from ALL harm, ALL evil and ALL loss, particularly from shaytan.
    3. Waswas is from shaytaan, self-criticism that results in hopelessness is this very waswas. Seek refuge and make dua that Allah reforms you. Memorize and recite the prophetic duas in your sajdah.
    4. Be optimistic. Not losing hope in Allah means not losing hope in yourself: because Allah will never let astray and discard His servant, so long as His servant never discards Him.
    5. Always attribute your success to Allah. Thank Him abundantly through tasbeeh, tahmeed and takbeer. The more you praise Allah the more He will increase you in goodness - a promise of Allah in the Quran.
    6. Write down a list of all your good qualities, add to this daily. This will help you appreciate your strengths.
    7. Research cognitive distortions and identify the cognitive distortion by name each time you recognise harsh self-talk.
    8. Forgive yourself and forgive others.
    9. I saved the best to last so that you won't forget it. Establish an UNDERSTANDING RELATIONSHIP with the Quran and thus Allah. Meaning, ask around for the best tafseer and read it like its your medicine. Because it really is. "Verily in the remembrance of Allah do hearts rest; And We send down of the Qur’aan that which is a healing and a mercy to those who believe... "and it removes doubts, misguidance, fears and anguish from the hearts, so read it like Allah is taking to you directly.

Work towards something believing that Allah will help you succeed. If there is a 50%/50% chance of success or failure, if you trust Allah you should be hoping for a positive outcome, expecting the best and not become disheartened.

Guys over the last 3 years i have lost and destroyed both my confidence and happiness, after reading that arrogance is a major sin is islam. I constantly try not to be arrogant and never insult others, but in doing so have become weak , a target of bullying and a pushover/follower. Im 18 atm and really want to change , as i am going through a major depression due to this loss of confidence. Whenever i get a compliment i reject it, whenever i get insulted i accept it , with the illogical thinking that this will prevent arrogance and arrogance will lead me to jahannam . Please brothers and sisters , someone give me advice on how to stop this negetive way of thinking and regain my happiness :(

Asc brother, we are in the same train . From my experience and after listening to many islamic lectures from Ustadh nouman ali khan on understanding islam, and the mercy , caring and love of Allah to us . Your aim should be , to be the servant of Allah , and accept Allah as your master, so all these excessive fear will decrease. And the best thing is to do actions in consciousness, and not in emotional or repulsive ways. The last but not the least be positive always.
      Shukran.

    Self esteem in Islam:
According to the Islamic understanding self esteem is the confidence in ones own abilities hovering somewhere in between the two extremes of self loathing and conceited ness. Lack of self esteem can actually contribute to leaving a person in a victimised position. The person accepts that as part of their own makeup. It’s good to have self criticism but things have to be balanced.
