The podcasts with Larry W have been excellent. If I had any comment it’d be to extract more words from the guests, somehow; but also not to contribute any less yourself bc that’s all important stuff too :)
The nefarious statistics that the good Colonel just cited from the Brown University analysis would make many Americans weep in shame - IF they were aware of them! The myth of the American "good guy" still prevails in America. The larger world KNOWS better because they have been the victims of it. When objective truths "evaporate" we are ALL in jeopardy!
Great episode Dr. Good. I am in the middle of reading American Exception. Excellent work. Do you think the inception of the 2003 Iraq war was essentially a neocon project to serve Israeli regional interests (by breaking a potential competitor: i.e. an economically and socially robust Iraq) as well as to provide a boon to the corporate interests of the MIC and oil service industries? What are the factors that you see as operative in the early motivations of the Bush admin. to go into Iraq? Forgive me if this is covered later in your book as I am still on "Academia and the State" chapter.
I think that Vogler and Wilkerson have it right--that it was essentially an oil war for Israel so that W. Bush wouldn't be a 1-term POTUS like his father.
Ironically, I envy the bulk of the American People who naively believe that our domestic electoral process is relevant to their futures. The geo-political and socio-economic dynamics that are now at work are global in scale and they have nothing to do with the "aw-shucks", corn pone view of Americana that prevails across the electoral landscape. The myth is a "beautiful idea" that represents the most noble aspirations of humanity. However, the reality is such more Machiavellian than many (most?) could ever imagine.
First off, thank you. For this episode, and EVERY episode. 1:23:57-This, I suspect, is what really gets under the skin of many of those within the American oligarchy and their policy minions. They have no real answer to the "common prosperity" doctrine. Nor do they want to answer it, in any meaningful way. It's the nation state equivalent to what the Gracchi brothers tried to do in ancient Rome. Which infuriated other members of the Roman oligarchy so much that they killed them both, and really sent their republic spiraling towards ruin. Of course, America is in no such position to respond in this manner to China. Other than to try it, and likely commit utter suicide.
The British story imo reads with the following ingredients. Hereditary oligarchs see history as the exceptionalism of their blood line. Whatever they do is naturally tied to grandpa and his ancestors. That's to explain that they are dealing with lt history. The other ingredient that I think one should keep in mind is that effectively, the city is the actual financial centre and therefore the most powerful force in the financial world (debtors can be turned into serfs, like in the hood old days). Finally, like any hereditary oligarch, the banker is a key player in their book. Just throwing this here because I think it's often overlooked (at least by the general public, where the tendency is to believe every generation is history and the past never existed in a meaningful way, yep we are dumb😉)
"Bill Clinton pardoned Marc Rich, popularly known as the “fugitive financier,” and otherwise known as a large-scale tax cheat and buster of sanctions." Ironically Rich was born to a Jewish family in Antwerp, Belgium.
Gary is very incorrect about the US not stealing Iraq's oil money : it is still controlling that account to a very significant extent (and you can rest assured that it does everything in it's power to benefit itself to the detriment of the Iraqi people etc. ) - Iraq's sovereignty has not been restored yet...
I think his point was that the USA Big Oil economy was not taking the oil (at discount), and to your point, he's right because he didn't understand they were taking the money instead. He is an oil man, not an economist along the lines of Michael Hudson.
Amazing podcast. Should & hope it goes viral. Thank you.
important information, thank you all.
This one's a real banger. Thanks guys. 😎👍

…plus the fact the Saddam Hussein and Muamar Gaddafi both wanted to start using gold dinars instead of US petrodollars to sell their oil.

I don't know Roman history well but it does feel as though we are living in time of the collapse of a military empire.
Those who control the biggest arms dealer networks control the character of the Great Game? Excellent scholarly work - thank you.

Clinton did not pardon Leonard Peltier of the American Indian Movement AIM or Mumia Abu Jamal of the Philadelphia Black Journalists Association.
Your point?
Jesus... my mind boggles at Israel and its abilities to get the US to do what it wants. The criminality, the lies are blowing my mind!
Chinese merchant marine - even if they aren't armed, the scale represents a strategic Pacific Ocean comms network.

American Nuremberg by Rebecca Gordon charges the U.S. officials responsible for the Iraq war😢
The last 30 minutes got way off the book
