Blackwood sounds like maple and mahogany had a baby. Coupled with that spruce, it's wonderfully rich and balanced. Perfect for his nuanced playing. Beautiful.
Wooooow, I am such a sucker for African Blackwood. I played an OM Grand in it against my advanced x italian/cocobolo grand in Austin TX..... African blackwood brings out the best of santa cruz in my opinion, better than rosewood mahogany or maple. Really cool with that ancient sitka! Nice build
The best sound I've listened to in a while. You have the best choice in tonewoods for this model. Great job on all points and excellent playing skill !
Can we make requests? I was wondering if maybe you guys could do a tone wood comparison. Like showing us the different tonewoods and what you should expect to hear and playing them side by side. Almost like teaching us how to hear and appreciate the difference not like a "compare to see what's better" but just some more detailed explanation on what to see, know, and expect from these gorgeous tone woods.
I always enjoy your playing. You get the best out of a guitar. This one sounds great and a real, over the top, beauty. Can't do better than snakewood and african blackwood. Glad to see they bagged the winpy OM style pickguard, not my favorite. There is style and class, this guitar has both. I am also a great fan of sitka and prefer it to other spruces.. it is "manly" : ). Curious how Santa Cruz presents this "ancient" spruce to you. Ancient how? Age, condition found etc. I have owned many guitars to include 15 Martins, I think it is time I owned a Santa Cruz considering I lived there for 4 years in the late 80s and less than a 45 minute drive for another 36 years.

Wow. This guitar has such a unique sound. It really suits Matt’s playing.

Haven’t heard that 1st tune for a while. One of my favorites. You played it on the Martin D28 Authentic 1937 VTS demo. Fantastic!
neat to see a 3000 year old piece of wood be used on a guitar

This is a great idea^^ I second it
Thanks Matt
Beautiful playing and what a beautiful guitar. Sounds great.
OK. It sounds as beautiful as it looks! How does it smell? (Isn't African Blackwood in the rosewood family?)

InstaBlaster...
Terrific sounding guitar
Is this the same 3000 year old sitka that breedlove had ?
🔵 beautiful ❕💙
🔵 this build looks very similar to "the Ghost" custom build ❔❓🐸
I'd like to buy one but a new Kia is a lot less expensive.
True . But where would six strings go on the Kia to make this sound ?
If the Kia was a hatchback, your question is answered. Medium gauge would work perfectly.
Is the bridge and inlays the same material on that guitar?
Can we get some DADGAD playing?
