My heart accelerated a little bit when you showed the Go-Betweens! You're doing better than me, I don't have any on vinyl. Robert Forester does one of my favorite songs, From Ghost Town. Fun thread, Ed!
Wow ! Ann Peebles on Hi, very good and cool. Rattlesnakes ? I will listen ! Go- Betweens, I have been streaming here and there.. Great band, I want some too ! I love my MP3 players, and I like Nanci Griffith's cover of You Were On My Mind. " 😊
Both of those Nanci Griffith cover version LPs are wonderful. I was lucky to see her live here in CT at an outdoor summer concert many years ago. Just magical. In January I'll start up the vinyl hunt again: no shortage of stuff for me to listen to until then, that's for sure!
From '99 The Dust Bowl Symphonies duet with Darius Rucker "Love At The Five And Dime" is one of the most beautiful songs.. Ever ! So nice that you got to see her live.. "Late Night Grand Hotel" is equally as breathtaking off of the same album, as I'm sure you know !
Cool idea for a video. Good luck with The Go-Betweens. I never see their records. Glad to hear you're enjoying Lloyd Cole - such a great record. I used my iPod just a couple days ago! Interactions with other record lovers is the best part of VC. I enjoyed the video - thanks for the shout-out!
My pleasure, Randy! I thought a little recap might be fun to do. I'll definitely need some good luck for the Go-Betweens, for sure. That is definitely the best part of the VC, as you say. Have a great weekend 😎🎶
It was great to see that Ann Peeples record as I love the title track and "I'm Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down" is probably my favorite track by her. I need to pick up that one as I picked up the reissue of Straight From The Heart which came out right before that one. I don't have any Lloyd Cole on vinyl but I do have most of his albums on CD. I am jealous seeing those as I'm trying to cut down on my double dipping. Steve helped me get into Ian Hunter and Mott The Hoople as well although I did have a couple of Ian Hunter albums already. I think that Mott is my favorite album of theirs and the one I recommend the most. I have heard of The Secret Sisters but I have never checked out their music. I will have to check them out. I have been looking for The Go-Betweens as well and I never see them in the wild but this year I was able to run across two of their albums but not the one you showed. Nanci Griffith fan here as well. Take care.
@RandyforRoyals I know what you mean about double dipping: I try to stay away from that myself! Being exposed to new music or artists is the best part of the VC, and wanted to do a little year-end recap. I got to see Nanci Griffith live here in CT a few years ago. Fantastic. Mott The Hoople is queued up for 2025. Thanks, Randy! 😎🎶
I've been impressed with the quality of Fat Possum's releases for Hi Records. I have a few of their issues for Al Green, and they sound excellent. Jesse's album is right up JT’s street. The best thing about the Debbie Harry album is probably the jacket. I still have to check out the "Secret Sisters" album. I don't often see "Go-Betweens" records in circulation. Cool list and idea, Ed.
@@mad4vinyl802 Thanks, Mark! I have a few of Solomon Burke's releases when he recorded on Fat Possum (CD, though). A quality label, I find as well. I'm sure other folks do this type of video at a year end (maybe?), so wanted to give it a go myself. Plus, I really have nothing 'new' to show right now. 😎🎶
The Go Between’s discography 100% over the driveway 2025😊 Great thread and I will jump on this. Nanci Griffith I heard you talk about before and need to seek out.
Maybe I'll split the difference: 50% of The Go-Betweens discography, and only repave 50% of my driveway...ha! As always, appreciate the watch and comment, Shawn 😎🎶
Hi Ed! I had no idea on Ann Peebles, but she’s now on my list. “I’m gonna tear your playhouse down” is probably my favorite Paul Young track. I will be looking up Ann’s original. Rattlesnakes! It’s very good, and I’m in alignment with those other opinions of it. I have that Jessi Colter record. Very good! Debbie looks great on that cover, but it’s a lousy record. That French Kissing single is ok, but that’s pretty much it for me too. I have that Nanci Griffiths CD. Bought it at the time as I was really in a big John Prine phase that led me to that album. I have a Shonen Knife CD from the 90s. Great video Ed!✌️
@MGKBOSTON Thanks! If I didn't know any better, you'd think I grabbed the LPs I showed from your own collection 😆 . I'm thinking plenty of VC'ers always do some sort of year end wrap up, but like I said to others below, it's new to me! As always, I appreciate the watch and time taken to comment. Have a good week, Mike!
Hi Ed. I like Nancy Griffin, too. Beautiful voice. I am planning to make a video about the highlights of my year. I have written the script, but #10 was the concert I went to on Sunday. I would like to post this closer to New Years Eve.
Wonderful! Looking forward to watching it, Catherine. It's been nice revisiting Nanci Griffith's music again. I actually saw her live here in CT as well. Have a great weekend!😎🎶
Hey Ed. Great video! I love Ann Peebles and have 4 of her albums. That Ian Hunter album is great. Secret Sisters are great. Wow, Nancy Griffith! I haven't thought about her for years. I don't own any of her albums, but will now go and check her discography out! Great information about the albums and bands you showed. Cheers
Thanks, Bobby! I actually got to see Nanci Griffith live a number of years back here in CT. Just wonderful. Had fun putting together this little recap. Enjoy the weekend 😎🎶
Hi Ed, excellent idea for a thread! As I'm watching this, I'm already thinking of answers to your questions. I've seen Brian mention the Lloyd Cole and the Commotions Rattlesnakes album, definitely going to put that on my list as well as hopefully getting a copy of The Go Betweens album. I have the same iPod as you do, pretty cool to see someone still has theirs. Hope all is well! Best, Steve
@rallstonianmusicreport1975 Thanks, Steve! That iPod still gets a fair amount of use and goes everywhere I go. Wanted to do a little year end video. I'm sure others do the same and it's old hat, but new to me! Appreciate the watch and comment as always 😎🎶

Cool video really got me thinking about those questions! Jesse Colter and Nancy Griffith are awesome!
Excellent, Doug! I've picked up some additional Jessie Colter as well this year. Enjoy the weekend 😎🎶
Great video Ed, we all miss Steve! 🤘🏼
Have a great weekend!
Thanks, Anthony! Had fun putting this little recap together. Hope all is well on your end. Enjoy the weekend as well 😎🎶

Hi Ed, I can tell that this is a very interesting thread because I was thinking of answers to these as you went along. I agree with the Go-Betweens!
Happy to hear that, Brian! I'm sure many folks do something along these lines at the end of the year. But, it's new to me! Enjoy the weekend 😎🎶

@ I am a hypocrite so don’t listen to me😊.. the most I have spent on a non box set / individual record is 44 dollars.
