Dirtbike editors are way behind. SERVICE HONDA has been building AF since 1997. Aj Waggoner is still building them today under a new company name Built500. Where was Dirtbike magazine when Travis Pastrana raced the 500 during the RedBull Straight Rythm?? Where was Dirtbike magazine when Robbie Maddison used the Service Honda CR500AF for Two long Distance Jumos?? So, a New person decides to build a one off of his own 500af. Then Dirtbike magazine gives him reviews. Aj Waggoner has built more 500af's than anyone. But, for some reason you give credit to someone who has built 1. ??? I question your motives. all i can say is--why is it legal to run a 250 four stroke in the 125 class, and a 450 four stroke in the 250 class? think about that.... 2 strokes make more power per size, period. dont believe? go ride an xr80, then a cr80...
2stroke vs 4stroke, it's legal as it should. 2strokes: 2 strokes for each ignition, 4 stroke has twice as many strokes. Meaning cubic inches also doubles to "basically" get the same engine. difference being powerband and weight, 4 strokes genereally has more horsepower but higher weight, 2 strokes has weaker powerband down low but pulls just as hard on higher revs. it's a preference. Combining 250 4strokes and 2strokes in the same category wouldn't be fair either.

Me in the 90’s riding a CR500 laughing at this short. But I must say the 250 2 stroke had a nasty power band in the mid 90’s

A Big Fat "DITTO" on all that = All TRUE
Travis pastrana rode a 500 in straight rhythm. It was just in a Suzuki frame
Yes! And it had a custom rm500 engine that was never in production.

Great video. Sounds like that AF needs some jetting.

try 250allo frame put 500 in it
Either that’s a tiny frame/bike or that rider was very tall…

To be clear nobody has worked with Honda of Japan. Aj Waggoner is the only one who has the rights of Honda to produce the CR500af.

Right! That's why I don't take 450 riders serious when they brag about beating 250 2T. I'm like, "you're supposed to beat them you have 200 more cc"

All that work, and still slower and weaker than a factory stock crf450. Cool build though.
If only they fuel injected it like a ktm tpi. I wonder if it would have more power
