The first thing you need to know before you use brush pens for lettering

I ruined so many brush pens because I had NO idea that paper was important. Duh. I don't know how I missed that memo, but I still see people daily making the same mistake.
So don't ruin your pens, switch to a different paper.

Hey I’m wondering if it is okay to use brush pens on drawing paper. The paper I have is textured so I’m worried this will fray my pens. Thanks!

You can try to practice in regular notebooks with lines so that it won’t be frayed .

I have a sketch pad that's like a medium point, its not as rough as watercolour paper but is not as smooth as the papers you named.Do you think I could use that without ruining the brush pens quickly?

I tried that. It doesn't ruin the pens at all. Sketchpads are perfect for these pens.
