- When Lawrence said there was a planned convoy down to Southend for an OLD FELLAS REUNION I really wasnt expecting it to be such an awesome turnout and a proper blast. It was like stepping back in time again when we used to head down their pretty much every weekend. Had a right laugh in the K20 turbo escort, unfortunate I couldnt take the Fez. But it did mean i could concentrate on filming for you guys... next time however I need to get it parked out the front of the Arcades for a better thumbnail pic!

im 32 and gutted i never got to drive in the old school southend days but i count myself very lucky i had older siblings into cars that used to take me. many happy memories of the car scene down there. great video!

Southend and Maidstone cruises were great in the 90s - I never had a 'highclass' or 'high power' car - I was always in a Mini with 10" weller rims - more power in my amps running a pair of twelves - than the engines had haha. Cruising up in a convoy was superb, gawd dayum - miss those days. Plus, I remember those guys with the bin-lid on a rope in front of that speed camera, just past a spped bump haha.
Thank you for posting this Mike - brought back a lot of superb memories - for me this is the UK car culture - not the pop-bang crew in carparks.

Great video, I'm with Adrian Flux for my classic car insurance...... All mods are declared with no NC bonus as i use that on my day to day car 160pounds for the year on a mk1 escort with agreed evaluation but i did hear that insurance is going up but i must of got lucky, hope you get it all sorted out

I think they are looking to do 2 a year. Which is best as it will keep the number up. Make it special and not piss off the locals. That said I think all the local shops down there were loving the crowds. The fish and chip shop said they had never seen it so busy down there.

I need to head down there soon and catch up with him. He had it on the dyno and they had an issue with the intercooler he fitted. As it was leaking on one of the welds. Think he’s re done it all now and is booked in to get it properly mapped

My brother had a red mk1 gte 8v I drove 90% of the time. I had a white nova saloon with a 1.6 gsi lump on carbs. Also Had mk 2 fiesta, mk 3 escort, mk 4 escort cabby 3i but mainly cav calibra nova and corsa b. Next for me has to be a mk7 escort.... i daily drive a corsa b 16v

You've probably sorted this out by now but if not, give Need 2 Insure a go. I've both my Mk1 RS's insured with them and have found them to be really stress free and fair. Boncaster who I was with years back refused to insure my car once I fitted a front mount intercooler to replace my chargecooler which adds nothing, if anything power wise. These guys were good as gold. 👍
Loved the nights out in Saarfend. 17 years old with my metro turbo, then the R5 GT turbo and then the different ford RS's I owned.
