This month's Reading Japanese Meet was quite the eventful one. After dressing as a speed camera to capture the arrivals, I later ventured to the exit to join the vast crowd in watching the cars pulling out of the show. During this time, the police were less present than usual, perhaps resulting in the 3 crashes that occurred to happen! A motorbike, a Golf and an MX5. All in the space of an hour or two.

Ye I’m not surprised the police are trying to close this meet down, I love cars and some meets are good but this is ridiculous

90% of the accidents would be stopped if dumb kids stopped blocking the view out of the junction.

But they were still both stupid, the BMW for drifting when he couldn't see traffic and the Golf for going way too fast into an intersection

If you are unable to see what's up the road and still drive like an idiot you can't be surprised when you don't see the consequences of your actions till it's too late either.
That Golf was inches away from being launched into the crowd by the BMW. I dont think people realise how close they were to being seriously hurt.

how much longer can this continue? surely be better to be held at a racetrack at a weekend where theres safety people on call ,st johns etc.. This is starting to be a nuisance to locals and people getting to and from work in the area.. Not to mention the safety of people..
@@chefblanc Most the people who attend these sorta events don't a a single brain cell between them. If they think standing in the middle of a duel carriage way is fine then they're clearly too dumb to relize the risk. There's plenty of opportunities to drift/drag/hoon safely at various tracks and even more venues would put events on if their was demand, the only reason they're there is because they're morons simply put.

This is nothing on you Adam, you’re just making content and thank you for doing so but…I never thought I’d see the day where I actually see and understand why the police are coming down so hard on meets and also why a lot of owners just refuse to bring their cars out to meets nowadays because of utter idiots like said moron in his mums golf or what’s left of his mums golf now.
How many times do we have to see and hear about crashes leaving meets or even worse, when a crash takes out people watching and causes serious injuries or worse. I know there’s some, a minority, that find this stuff funny but the majority of us don’t want these dickheads anywhere near us. Sure we all like to hear and see other cars leave, what other enthusiast doesn’t! However watching and seeing this stuff just and this is me personally speaking, keep the car at home in the garage for meets and only bring it out for my own enjoyment or for a static show. More and more seem to be of a similar stand point too it seems due to the much more aggressive policing tactics towards modified owners and or this recent influx of utter stupidity that have become a fixture of a lot of meets.

I don't understand the Golf driver. He knows the meet is going on, he knows people are trying to make a cool exit, so he leaves, turns around twice and goes as fast as he can past the crowd, knowing that they're not there to see a boring Golf fly by and that the people leaving can't properly see the road. Then he tries to make a lane change on the roundabout while the car beside him doesn't even know he is there, because he's driving way too fast and bins it. 100% idiot.
The "fly by" show off is one of the worst thing people can do in front of meets.
Cars leaving are distracted by the crowds, maybe trying to show off a bit themselves, and to come flying up on that at high speed is asking for trouble.... Plus if you crash for whatever reason you are carrying so much more speed into a crowd than someone who crashes doing a burnout or a failed launch.
@@volvo09maybe just not driving like a bell end while leaving a static meet is the solution. Fine, accelerate to the speed limit, however too many people deciding to go sideways when they really have no idea how, or do so with too much margin for error. In the case of the golf driver he really just had no idea how to drive "fast", and through a crowd of people approaching a busy roundabout was not the place to do it in the first place.
I nearly witnessed an accident in the campsite at japfest by an Audi S5 that decided to floor it sideways in the camp ground, stepped out really fast and nearly hit the tents opposite us, flicked solid mud fist sized mud clumps up at my car and all.
There's a time and a place. I can see this meet getting shut down soon, for good reason.
It's a shame that cars attract so much low intelligence anti social behaviour, it gives everyone else a bad rep.

I have been going to the reading car meet since i was 17 i am now 37. It was/is a great meet for people that appreciate cars and the money that people spend on there pride and joy. How ever It only takes a few to spoilt it for the many. If they wish to race or mess around go to a track.
doesn't look like a great meet to me. Full of youths looking for drama. Furthest thing away from what I would bring my car to. I'll be sticking to the larger & organised meets.

Edit: I am also a traffic signal engineer; they did a good job on that! The connections at the top are called top caps and they connect to a signal head and cap that is probably in the bush somewhere. Local council will replace it and may want to know who bonked it! Each pole costs about £1000 to replace in total.
Second edit: Someone nicked the top caps and heads! Nothing valuable in there but would make an excellent piece for the living room.

This really shows the best and worst of the UK car scene. Idiots showing off result in a nasty crash but at the same time, the Landy coming straight out to help pull it clear.
From the limited footage I have to say that the Golf driver is still very much responsible. The E36 did get close but the Golf was going way too fast and still had plenty of time to slow down for the roundabout but we don't see his brake lights until he's already past the lights. I suspect he was trying to beat the red and didn't realise how much speed he was carrying.
What mindless chavvery. This is disrupting the general public and destroying public road infrastructure. People are seriously in danger here.

I thought the Brunel Reading meets got shut down long ago. I remember going through the roundabout not that long ago and the light were out maybe because of what happened here then.
I think the police being around is good for the meet. Because as this video evidence shows: People don't learn the limitations of their own cars before they drive like bellends.

And this is exactly why I don't go to these meets. Call me boring but I will now only go to properly arranged meets, ticketed at a venue, that are static.
Agreed, used to frequent some meets that were local to me, but they're all gone to shit. between people glorifying idiotic driving (such as drag racing on a public road), to some actual violent incidents between members, I'm fed up.

I used to enjoy watching these exit videos back when it was you and a couple of others watching the cars leave. And actually interesting cars leaving. This has gotten way out of hand now with the level of crowds and the absolute idiots driving. Just watching that golf pass the bmw with inches between it with some spaz hanging out the window going about 60+mph is horrible, the BMW only needed to have the back end kicked out more and there could have been serious injuries and maybe even loss of life. I really think people need to learn to be adults and realise they're driving a 1.5t death machine. Its scary to think these people are on the roads with the rest of us. I am into my cars, i modify them but i wouldnt dream of acting or drivng in such a way near so many people. The amount of damage also caused to the traffic managment system will be £1000s of tax payers money to repair. I dont mean for this to negativily impact you Adam as i enjoy the videos but I think you should try and keep distance from this sort of antisocial content as I think it could end up cauing a negative back lash for yourself, who realisticlty is just trying to get good car content for us. I really think this meet could come to an end very soon, as you said 3 crashes in one night, all totally avoidable if people would just not be bellends.
I think it's Adam's least good content anyway. The stuff where he's IN the meets and shows giving us the benefit of his knowledge, spotting the really unusual mods and engine swaps, and generally being daft is quality stuff. I loved the Goodwood revival one.
I suppose these are the ones that pull the big views though so it's difficult to just ditch them if he wants to continue making a living out of this.

Sad to see some of these meets devolving towards the standard of many of the American meets you see online with people flying past hanging out of windows, plenty of almost crashes (or indeed crashes), flocks of people running across the road in front of cars, etc. They’re contributing heavily to the death of UK culture

No one mentions that the breakdown of the traffic lights including the pedestrian crossings increases the risk of a third party not releated to the meet being injured or killed.
Its terrorfying trying to cross a road when you have german car tossers like that racing around at speeds at which they are neither in control of their vehicles, nor able to see the road in front, nor capable of stopping if someone does get in the way.
Wider society picks up the bill for the infrastructure destroyed.
