- The Geometry of Poi is an exploration of the triquetra, double infinity, and spiral through poi spinning. It was originally a 4 channel video installation displayed in downtown Chicago. It was created in 2009 when I was just learning some of these moves so the poi spinning is far from perfect, but it captures conceptually what I was going for.

Also, I have been doing a lot of research on the geometry of sound/music in regards to poi. There is an excellent little book called harmonograph which should give you some good ideas. A lot of the ratios of music when represented geometrically are the same as poi patterns. If we could develop a program to do what you have done visually in a clean way and also create music when the ratios are hit correctly, that would be wonderfully epic.. Kate, this is superb! It is likely that you have already seen this, but just in case you have yet to, search for poi transmissions on youtube. You should connect with my friend Alien Jon as he has done a lot of geometry of poi animation in 3d studio max. Also, we have been dreaming of a real time WII-esque poi spinning, geometry, music game for a couple years now. Let's all come together and make this a reality!

Great editing, but the geometry if a bit off...it's not to clean! But I love the concept of this video! great job!!!
Hopefully form watching footage of your own spinning it's made you aware of where to focus for bettering yourself! I love seeing long exposures and film of my spinning! Tells me what I need to work on! =]

The art of spinning a weight around in a circle is called "poi." In this video I used post-production to add the colored light trails, but, you can buy poi that glow!

Maybe he is just demonstrating a little bit. He could possibly spin better than you or you could possibly spin better than him either way, who cares!
