Wow, thank you so much for the video Renfail!!! I went to watch the video thinking it was about everyone and not just about my comment 😂. Definitely made my day (my daughters think it's pretty cool that I'm in a RUclips video 😅). I was just giving my honest take, and that's how I found your channel in the first place because we have similar views. I didn't know if people would care what I thought or if they thought I was just a "bot" making it up. That's why I watch and comment on your videos because you always interact with your fans, and I appreciate that. I was just hoping my comment would get someone to give it a chance and see how great this game really is. Hopefully, more people will give it a shot because it's a great RPG, and I feel everyone should experience it at least once. Also, sorry it's not broken up into paragraphs 😅 it looks different on my end and comes out looking different on yours. Thank you all for the positive comments 🙏 ☺️!!!

You nailed it at @7:14. When someone recognizes they are not the target audience of a game, if they are unhappy about that they can say so (or not) and move on. But when someone spends time trolling or trashing a game they haven't played and don't intend to play, it means their anger/upset is not really about the game.
The difference couldn't be clearer than between a troll/trash post and SkillUp's reasoned review (where he concludes he can't recommend the game -- he played the entire game and it wasn't for him).
Because I thought his view would likely echo mine I avoided the game initially. But I sought out other views and saw your experience (and that of others) who I watched play the game. So I decided to give it a try. I'm not finished yet, but in the end I'm glad I've been playing it. Perfect? Hardly. "Woke garbage?" Hell no. Best Game of All Time? Another hell no. Polished product with a clear vision/direction. Absolutely. They have set a strong bar for a polished/finished highly performant release. And THANK GOD it is not a "live service" or microtransaction-ridden game. SO GLAD it is a single-player action-adventure RPG with party combat mechanics.

I love Playstation games, but I wish people who only own Xbox or a Nintendo Switch could play them and learn why I love them so much.
Taking it back to Veilguard: as a binary trans woman, as they say in the community, I'm glad we have the option to identify our character as trans if we want. Also, Taash's questline has got me to understand non binary people more and how wrong I was about them until recently.

It really felt like a gut punch, because I was so excited to gush about the ending with these other Solavellans that I've followed for the past decade. But y'know what? I'm not gonna let other people dampen or invalidate my experience. I felt very real emotions, and it resonated with me. I've really come to love my time with Veilguard. After the initial lightning push of the opening and gathering of companions, it really loosens up and has brought me right back to that great feeling of playing a Bioware game for the first time again. I can understand many of the critiques on tone, dialogue style, and role-playing options others have. But for me the consistent core of Dragon Age has always been the rich expanding world of Thedas and a strong companion driven narrative, and that's still very much here based on my 50ish hours so far.
I also wanted to thanks for putting your positive thoughts on Veilguard out there. I didn't follow any of the coverage up to the release, and was just pleasantly surprised that this game was released at all considering the development hell it went through. And for it to be a good single-player action RPG with no live-service aspects seems like a minor miracle! So for the "gaming zeitgeist" to decide that this game needs to be bad and a failure, even beyond the "anti-woke" crowd, seems really odd to me. Thankfully I was able to find your channel, which seems like a pretty chill positive place :)
I think there are a lot of people who would enjoy this game more if they can let they hype/anti-hype cycle die down, and in time give it a fair shake. There's a lot of Bioware goodness here, even if it's changed some. Just be open to what it is rather than focusing on what it isn't.

Personally i'm not a big fan of the so to say more 'woke' content in the game, but who says i have to right? People can do what they want and think what they want. It's a shame things are becoming so polarized that most people seem to lose all ability to just look at things with common sense. I waited a bit to see the steam reviews before buying the game because you never know with games these days. I was never a big dragon age fans in terms of gameplay, the previous games felt a bit stiff to me i'm also the player who is not able to get into BG3 for example because of the turn based combat it's just to slow and i have limited time in the evening to play a game. So i'm very happy they went with a more action adventure type of game this time, the gameplay feels very smooth and the combat is just stupidly fun. I also don't get why people complain about the character models i think they did a stellar job with the animations and characters, the style gives the game a very timeless look which is great. I wish more game would stop trying to make things look 'realistic', i much prefer a defined art style like this or world of warcraft, no man's sky etc. The story is also fine, it's easy to follow and it introduces things at an enjoyable pace. I see they tried to make this game for a bigger audience and i'm happy they did, the game is very easy to get into and easy to enjoy. If it's up to me we get more games like this, not every game has to be hard ( looking at you elden ring ), or tactically difficult like BG3 for example. I hope we get a lot more action adventure rpg style game that are just enjoyable to play.
I appreciate your videos, they are lighthearted which is exactly what we need. To much youtube gaming channels are becoming negative about every little thing complaining left and right. Let's just enjoy games :)

I played the game on nightmare difficulty and that really worked for me and made me engage with all the systems and use skill. The final 5ish hours are peak fiction imo and I might say this game is better than mass effect 2 . It certainly is on a personal preference list higher than mass effect 2.

Veilguard is my top game this year. Currently at 37 hours and I still have a lot to do. The lore is so damn good it keeps me hooked. Its all I've been playing since release. I would also go and change my difficulty settings when I get to a boss fight that I have trouble beating. I'm glad that's an option and I always put it back to normal mode after the fight.

People complaining that they can’t be evil but I don’t remember ever having the option to be evil in Dragon Age. But they could have more options to make people upset and break peoples hearts etc..

I usually don't comment especially in controversial topics but your wrong. Both games for the most part included neutral choices but DAO and DA 2 had a lot of evil choices. Examples:
      1. Dwarf noble/castless and Elven origins - you could delete people for dumb reasons and in the city elf you can even accept a bribe from the noble that assaulted your cousin!
      2. You can delete all your companions even Barkspawn!
      3. Erase the dalish elfs by siding with the werewolfs.
      4. Sabotage a relationship cuz of the lols.
That's not even mentioning DA 2 where you can sell Fenris back, erase Bethany and so on

@@reydavid12fh That's not an evil playthrough. That's making "bad" decisions along the way to a "good" ending. The same thing happens here. You can literally make "bad" decisions in Veilguard, such as the Mayor in the early chapter of the game. So no, it's not wrong. You literally cannot be an EVIL character in ANY of the DA games, you can simply make bad decision/evil decisions along the path.

@@reydavid12fh I think there is a difference between making a few morally questionable choices with characters who ultimately do the right thing in the end and, on the other hand, playing a consistently "evil" character from start to finish.

Re: controllers. I suck at using a controller. All my gaming experience had been on PC since the days of my Commodore 64 and DOS 386-SX PC. The first Xbox was my first console in 2001. I never enjoyed it due to having to use controllers.
I wanted to play Red Dead (1) so badly, I forced myself in my late 40s to suffer through playing it on XBOX 360 with a controller. I never finished it -- but now that it's on PC I may.
When Red Dead 2 came out, I was determined to play it on KB+M, so I bought a playstation KBM adapter just for that game. It still wasn't great but a bit better. Again, so glad RDR2 came out on PC.

@Renfail the VA chop was minor in only a few places, but it reminded me of the 90s a little in spots and the character faces were a little pixar for my taste (still better than da2). wish people would shut up aboit this game. My 50 year old ass is enjoying even more on my second playthrough.
