    Good video of how to disassemble especially only using one hand, you're a magician, ha. diff090 made a very good point, with the work involved always replace all the lamps when you open up the instrument panel, they are not that expensive when compared to the time and effort involved to disassemble and reassemble. One important point is not to touch the lamps with your bare hands, wear nitrile gloves or use a clean rag to insert the new lamp into the holder. Oil from your hands/fingers get on the lamp and when heated it eventually caused hot spot and premature failure. Keep up the good work with your videos, I enjoy watching so I can keep my '99 R170 going.

    Fupabox your videos are great! I'm 60+kiwi girl with limited mechanical knowledge. But also limited funds so yr videos have helped me lift centre consul and clean circuit board '97 c200 after the new puppy ate it! You explain SO well. Shame you're not my age, rich and single. 😁 You have a talent 4 teaching. Great work. Thanks. If you come down under anytime let me know! I'll shout you a coffee/ beer.

      +Girl600 Show I did a video on my w202 playlist regarding the stuck key issue.. It;s a crude repair but costs nothing if you can get the key to turn just one more time.. once the key will no longer turn the dealer or a good locksmith would need to be called..using a little lubricant on the key you may be able to get it to turn ,,,then the video link below can hopefully help ruclips.net/video/Qn7FzkTqUA8/видео.html

    Good tutorial with one mistake. You missed one screw underneath the ignition lock. Without loosing that scew you break the tacho cover, which you did (see approx. at 5:07 min) and unfortenutely me also following your tutorial. So it might be a good idea to add at least one big comment in your video!

    • @cwickgo9
      @cwickgo9 5 лет назад +1

      Do you have to remove the lower panel to get to the screw you're saying is missed in the tutorial?
      Also, so everyone knows, there are two plugs on the back, one on either side at the top. You cannot pull the cluster out and unplug them. You have to reach in (at least that's the only way I could do it) through the hole created by removing the left side air duct and work by feel. It was probably the hardest part for me, especially the farthest away, closest to the ignition switch. The other thing was that since I had cruise control, I simply could not get the cluster out, at least, I dared not push against the odometer stems any harder than I did. I pulled it out far enough to rotate it forward to get to the bulb sockets on the back.

    Very good video. Do you know if there is a led replacement bulb for these? Thanks

    • @fupabox
      @fupabox  6 лет назад

      the larger bulbs can just be swapped for leds , the smaller ones are built into the bulb holder.. The larger ones would be a T10 led... the smaller ones a T5 led . The small ones you would have to get the specific ones with the holder built in .. heres an example depending on the colour you want www.ebay.ca/itm/10Pcs-T5-B8-5D-5050-SMD-LED-Dashboard-Dash-Gauge-Instrument-Light-Bulbs-Blue/253589146995?fits=Make%3AMercedes-Benz&hash=item3b0b174d73:g:M9cAAOSwPHxa4~NB&vxp=mtr

    • @fupabox

      194 wedge ...make sure you get the same wattage bulb ..the wattage is marked on the back of the cluster at each bulb ..2w 1.5w etc. too high a wattage bulb can melt the plastic

      yes.. how they will look glowing through the orange on the gauges may look weird . you can try out different colours and see how it looks . Blue mixed with the orange numbers on the gauge should turn out kind of purple
