    This episode was a turning point for Alison. As she was dealing with something she's struggled with since the very beginning: her feelings of uselessness, inadequacy, and existential dissatisfaction.
    Before, she used alcohol and pills to cope with that feeling. Now, she's finally reached her breaking point.
    Much of the hour centered on Alison's quest to reclaim her position as the organizer of the Bailey Downs fall town fair from the usurping Nona Walker.
    When that failed, she quickly flew off the rails.
    Of course, like most things in Alison's life, her anger over the town fair issue was nothing more than an emblem - something concrete and minor to focus on in light of her larger, more serious problems.

    We cut Helena a lot of slack (like overlooking the whole serial killer thing) because of her incredibly abusive upbringing. Now that we've met Alison's mother, surely it's only fair to offer similar slack to Alison!

    • @KelseasComments
      @KelseasComments  Год назад +7

      Absolutely not. I cut Alison a lot of slack as well. But not when it comes to her being a shitty mother. And no one should. Excuses like that are what keep the cycle going. I mean if her mom is so awful.. why is she fine with her kids being there with her? Why is she not focused on getting them back? Why is she totally cool with them growing up with the same abusive mother while she goes and Eat Pray Loves her way into escaping her problems? She doesn't get to blame her trauma on her mom while also letting her kids live with her mom. That's so pathetic. And trust me, I would never let Helena get away with being a shitty mom either. I let them both get away with murder 🤣 but Helena has had her babies at the top of her priority list since the moment she found out she was pregnant with them. She would NEVER let her babies live with her abusers while she spiraled in self centeredness. A mother's past is never and will never be an excuse for her being a shitty mother. Again, that's what keeps the cycle going. You think Alison's kids aren't being traumatized by what they're being put through because Alison can't get her shit together? And again, we don't get to act like her mother was so awful while also acting like it's totally cool that Alison's kids are now living with her. And Alison's pathetic mentality that being a mom to the kids SHE ADOPTED is somehow a life that is beneath her is one of the biggest problems with society today. Children are the greatest gifts, which she KNOWS deep down and we've seen she knows in the moments that she struggles with her fertility. And being a good mother/parent to the children we bring into the world is the greatest purpose that humanity and the continuation of it relies on. Adopting two kids and then constantly whining about "how did I end up here??" and "I must have a purpose greater than this lowly, boring life as a mother!" is so ungrateful, immature, and selfish. And it should be obvious by now that I do not have ANY patience for parents that refuse to fight their addictions. She behaved atrociously in this episode and it was all HER CHOICE. She needs to grow the hell up and be the mom her kids deserve, otherwise she doesn't get to act like her mom is so terrible. You don't get to blame your shit on your past while refusing to take responsibility for your future.

      @@KelseasComments Phew! I wasn't expecting such an intense response to a throwaway joke! But yes, I agree with you. Although to be fair to Alison's character, she's probably suffering a bit from the lack of availability of the two child actors, so the scriptwriters are making her seem worse than she is.

      @KelseasComments I get where you are coming from regarding Allison needing to grow up and stop being selfish and ungrateful, but what I don't understand is how you could miss the point of someone like Allison, who has grown up with an abusive parent, sets out to be and believes she is, the opposite and be a loving mom to her kids. However, wanting to do differently and having the necessary tools to see it through are two different things. You can only ignore what's broken in you for so long as you can see because the minute something happens that she can't control, she needs a crutch (drugs) to cope thus, affecting everything & everyone she had set out to give what she never got. Her core self hasn't matured and I find it so off putting how judgemental you are as if nothing in your past has affected one second of your mommy role. No one is perfect

      @KelseasComments  Год назад +1

      I feel bad for most of what she's going through, but a lot of what she's going through is her own damn fault lol. And she's being so fucking pathetic in so many ways. She's so much better than all that. She's reaching some serious lows that are hard to stomach. I've been told I can't even guess where her story is going now so.. I'm intrigued and hoping for the best with her. But this episode just really focused on all the most enraging and pathetic parts of her mentality and then right when I thought she was snapping out of it.. she decides to check out and Eat Pray Love her way into "finding herself" while her husband and kids lives are in complete shambles BECAUSE OF HER lol. I didn't really expect to get so mad at her either because usually she's my favorite other than Helena. This one was hard to watch. 😭

    The fact that Allison is more of a psycho then Helena, is amazing. Helena in season 1 was hunting her sestras and killed... i think 4 of them, and is still more sane than Allison. Sarah left her daughter for a year, while doing drugs, and is still more responsible than Allison. The writers didn't need to make Allison such a disaster. I got the feeling that her kids could've disappeared and she wouldn't care. Messed up writing.

    I feel like the writers forgot that Allison and Donnie even had kids half the time. Anytime they're even mentioned, it's kind of a throwaway line. I'm assuming there must've been some issues with regards to the availability of Oscar and Gemma's actors, because why else would they be *completely* absent, without so much as a video call or something? And the whole "oh they're at my mother's" thing further solidifies the fact that the writers just pulled that explanation out of their asses, because how can you introduce us to the she-devil that is Connie and then make us think that the kids are safe and happy with her? Just give Donnie an unnamed brother or sister that lives in the states so we can at least assume they're in a happier environment. It just kinda takes me out of the story a bit. That's probably why I couldn't be that mad at Allison in this episode because I had less "Allison is making bad choices" feelings, and more "The writers are shoehorning extra bad decisions into Allison's character" feelings. Not that she's a paragon of good choices or anything, just that some feel a little....left field.
    Yikes, that was wordier than I wanted lmao. I hope it was coherent enough 😅

    Lmao i get that her storyline went in a way that touched on sensitive strings for you but why were you acting like Alison drugged Donnie or "put him in danger" on purpose 😭 all of that aside Alison was really on the brink of relapse since Donnie was in jail (she kept being around alcohol too, namely through Adele) and living with an addiction genuinely isn't that simple

    • @KelseasComments
      @KelseasComments  Год назад +3

      She put him in danger and drugged him because of intentional actions on her part. He wouldn't have had that happen to him if she wasn't engaging, by choice, in psychotic and dangerous behaviors. Alison was a pathetic, selfish mess in this episode. Period.

    I was also kind of dissatisfied with this episode. The big plot was that Alison was feeling out of place and useless, like she had kinda for a long time. So I feel like this episode's duty would have been to resolve that problem. But it was just pain no gain.
    We almost got there when Alison confronted Rachel and solved the problem she and Donnie created. But then it didn't really pay off, since Alison seemed to learn nothing in the end and would rather bugger off and "find herself". Why couldn't she find herself in this episode? Which was clearly made for that.
    It doesn't really sell as a turning point either, where Alison realizes that there is a problem that she needs to fix. Because that she has known for a long time, she just doesn't know how to fix it. And making a boiling point episode like this requires that enlightement.
    Also, hardly any mention of Cosima and/or Delphine, so I already can't rank the episode high.
