Here's how you improve the line city: fold it in half. If you're at Km 1 and need to go to the barber at km 170, that's a long journey, but if you fold it in half, the barber is right next door. Of course, at this point, if you're at km1 and the pet store is at km 85 (the new opposite end of town), that's still a long haul, so fold the line in half again. You know what? Keep folding it in half until that line is a square. That way things are as close to each other as possible. Just make a grid, like a normal city. Much more efficient.

This is plain stupid. There's reason why cities are round rather than lines.
The Line's city area would be 170*0,2 = 34 square km. If you build a circle-shaped city with same area, it's diameter (and longest distance from one part of the city to another) would be 6.6 km. In The Line your worst trip would be 170 km. Which one is more efficient?

I think the idea is to have modules for housing and recreation and work, and they'll just stick you near your job so you can get there fast. Drives me nuts when people actually defend cities as a *good* thing lmao they literally only exist to make us more like slaves

No one in their right mind would want to build or live so inefficiently. The only gain would be prestige, and that would soon be replaced by all the negative factors that come with such a looney idea from people who have too much money yet sadly waste it on such ludicrous projects instead of helping the poor in their own country.

Why are they investing more in advertising than it will cost?
If they had an open way for all wildlife etc… to go through the city to the other side unhindered, that would be helpful. Perhaps several more stories of open ground for them to pass through. I mean ON GROUND LEVEL. Of coarse there would still be an extreme structure but it would be open to animal traffic and and people to walk or travel from one side to another. Unhindered.
New York discouraged to feed pigeons but, the rat are getting more out of hand!
Perhaps certain ways for birds and other flying creatures to pass through to the other side and nest as well on every story. But there has to be a way that they will not get confused and hit the structure.
A lot of the bird species of the would travel around there yearly, and it would be necessary to give these living creatures safe havens, including from the other birds. Thus it would have to have so many structures, for each type of species. That is that will be aid full in the long term to all of them
There would need to be as well an immense forest on both sides full or the most ancient organic species of plants, with more ancient species increasing in seasonally
And for these plants an immense beekeeping program like in parts of europe, structures that can be on the sides of the buildings and underneath, my proposed several stories openings al the way through. And well as places for every sort of wild life including wasp and every helpful insect
The sewage system would or should not destroy this ecosystem. Toilets that burn the sewage would be more necessary. As well as a hundred percent of not smelling it, through some sort of filtration system, so as not to increase disease. And a way of transporting this waste to a designated spot that is on a hill that should be a distance and as easy as water but no water used at all.
and trainable animals should always be used instead of droids, so that there species will not become extinct in time. Plant life should be on every level, this is necessary because that microscopic things that take care of the soil need to be connected to the ground level to properly give nutrients to the soil.
There should be an extensive below ground levels as well to store crops excess crops, like the giant sillohs in Ancient Greece.
Not counting the necessary places for fermenting things like cabbage etc… or any fruit or vegetable.
This would need many wells that could provide for the city by if their salt water salinization didn’t work. So there would be no lack of water under any circumstances,YHWH willing.
Each house and room should be set up for for zones and codes. As far no extra tax. So you can all do business in your house and live there. An Arabian paradise.
If there are birds on every level there will be an extreme amount of fertilizer. Which with proper design will be easily cleaned and moved to either side of the city for there crops.
The cities trees and agriculture, including Aquaponics, should support the cities needs a thousand times over, even if packed, with ten to a hundred times the estimated inhabitants.
Aquaponics should also be in every level of the city. And flowers year round, considering it will be able to have a green house for each house that has openings and closing as each inhabitant chooses
This city should have the ability to have access to all weather, without this sickness will increase, in the long term.
