@@lrcolville1not really. I'm a long time simulator llayer. Stuff like lock on flaming cliffs 2, ka-50 black shark and so on. Yeah, you def need a flight stick, but head tracking is not really required cause you can move your head with a mouse and controll throttle with mb1/2

He probably has multiple HOTAS controllers and found the cheaper plastic joystick to be the best.
My $250 X56 joystick feels pretty awkward sometimes. Its hard for me to toggle buttons while Iam pitching forward and twisting for YAW. I kinda want to those rudder pedals.
But by $140 X52 feels a lot easier to control but has less buttons. It also has a 2 stage trigger switch.
Ive seen ppl complaining about their $500 warthog joystick too.
Thats just my guess.

This is probably what real dogfights look like. I've heard that fighters don't carry a lot of ammo, so you only have enough for like 6 solid bursts.

@@woahhbro2906 Yeah, but the amount of ammo the game gives you is pretty close to the amount it's irl counterpart would have.
I fly WW2 and the US fighters which carry tons of ammo get 15 seconds of trigger time before the guns are dry. 109s and Spitfires get maybe 10 seconds trigger time.
In a dogfight, you lose long before you get shot down most of the time.
It's insane how far warthunder has come.
It's only gotten worse over the years

@@tb46475True, and btw, the f5 pilot sucked, he came in with alot of speed which is what gave her the overshoot, she didn’t even have to do anything to get him to overshoot, if that guy had a slight understanding of the importance of energy management, he would have gotten her six, and she would have had no choice but to nose counter, which (if the other pilot is patient and doesn’t throw) is a death sentence. Her gunnery skills are good though.

Tbh, its not really that hard. Its just like sim but with a joystick and vr wich make it easier. you can look around just with your head and control the plane with the joystick unlike both at the time with the keyboard + you can bind the extra joystick space for something else instead looking arround wich can be a changer most times.

Lol no. "Realistic" is an arcade mode. 3rd person view, fly-by-wire mouse controls, "laser-aim" due to perfect stability control. No worries about things like wingtip stalls.
In Realistic you're not actually "flying" the aircraft, you just tell the Instructor where you want it to be and the game does it for you. Realistic is much more similar to Arcade than it is to Sim.

I’ve tried simulator maybe 2-3 times on a joystick and it’s so insanely difficult. Opened my eyes to the skull it takes to fly in combat, trying to pull in a dogfight, only for my plane to cartwheel in the air and flat spin lol

It’s Air Rb, with a lot more control over the aircraft. Once the player knows their plane, and how it’ll react, it can be flown nearly exactly like RB, and the other pilot stands little chance.

He's using a Quest 2 and a PC for the VR part of it. The flight sim stick, throttle, rudder pedals is cool. I wouldnt even know where to get this kind fo stuff from though thats decent but not too expensive like they usually are it seems.
You can get a Quest 2 headset/controllers for a great deal used if you are alittle patient..
I have them and its awesome using them while playing MSFS and basically any other game on my computer, VR or not, just with the Quest 2 as the VR screen instead. I use the Wireless link and it's perfect
I got mine when it first came out before the price went up, but i don't use it as much as i used too..
This video makes me want to go use and try out War Thunder, i didn't realize it was this nice of a game for graphics and multiplayer online..

Dude is playing War Thunder, which can be played with any setup, from standard mouse and keyboard or controller, OR movie arcade style flight simulation cockpit controls.
This setup appears to use a $1k-$3k VR headset for User Interface to replace a computer screen or TV and has replaced the mouse and keyboard with a joystick and speed lever, both of which are built into the desk, and some custom foot pedal abomination that does something I know nothing about in this setup.
If I'm reading the clips right, the dude is piloting a Mig21, notices he's being pursued by an F5 fighter, and proceeds to use his plane's agility to use a maneuver designed to get his plane behind the pursuing plane. It works, and he shoots the F5's wing off, resulting in a kill, and he flies away, awaiting the next motherfucker to try the same thing. :)
Whats crazy is that sometime in the future when we have fully operational and functioning unmanned fighter jets, this man will be an ace😅

@@newlchipson2900you can link the quest 2 to pc without a cable by using virtual desktop. Gotta have em both on the same wifi and it has to be a 5ghz band wifi modem/router.
Anyone wanting to do vr with pc would find the quest 2 to be a great entry to vr as long as you have a mid to high end pc and but all of the vr games on your pc and not the meta store(they have limitations when played through the headsets hardware and not the pc)
