- Of course Tim sounded amazing, but did he commit the ultimate guitarist sin by using a Solid State Amp, and a Crate nonetheless? I couldn't believe it. We may need to rethink what we understand when it comes to finding good tone.

Great little amp! Crispy cleans and crunchy drives..miss mine.
“A shitload of kickass amps” lol
My first band I gigged with an Acoustic 134 with 4/10’s A SolidState Amp. I didn’t have money for a pedal. I used a Gibson SG and a coiled chord plugged straight into the amp. That was it. It sounded great and the feedback was totaly usable. Fogerty from CCR used Kustom Amps.
That's terrific Ron. And right now there seems to be a tube shortage so we may end up forced into SS amps or even more sinful......Amp Sims using laptops. :)
Has technology caught up and produced amazing sounding SS amps, or have we gotten used to the tone and accept the limitations of SS amps?
One thing is SS amps are more reliable than tube amps, weigh much much less, and are much cheaper. The next few years are going to be interesting to see.
lately I'm living in a small place and don't have much room so I've not used my big tube amp and used 2 small SS amps that take up less space then my tube amp but some of my pedals have an amp selector and they sound good as far as I can tell, I use 2 because some of my pedals have stereo output
Once you experience stereo, its hard to go back to mono. Glad you're having a good experience with SS.
