What is the Kurzweil Pitcher? A Comb Filter in disguise?

  • A RUclips user asked if the Pitcher from Kurzweil is really just a Comb Filter. I just had to find out what's really going on with that effect.......and how it can be used.

    Appreciate the analysis, but I'm curious how these sound on program material or tracks. That buzzing fly noise doesn't really give me a reference on how or where to use it. Thanks

      Yes that's the most important question, how does it sound on a track for example. If you watch towards the end of the video, I use it while playing a synth pad. I patched a rotary encoder to the fundamental pitch in the Pitcher, and played a simple melody over the Pad. It's quite fun to do. This is the last minute or so of the video.
