Also, I know the audio is mostly horrible - it’s the best I could do, please crucify me accordingly.

For those who can't handle the most realistic F1 mod of all time for AC & Sim in general, and who don't want to take the time to understand how a car works and learn how to set it up... you have two options, play with the non CSP version from VRC that's included in the FA24 download. Or go get the RSS FH which is a step up from Codemasters in simplicity but for AC. But this VRC FA24 is next level. Not just the overall design work, physics, and setup options. But also the apps they have evolved for AC that will and already have benefitted general AC community. Referring to the Extended Controls App and new VRC Advanced Setup Anyone who claims to be a F1 SIM racing fan, especially an Assetto Sim racing fan, and hates on this car then it says more about you than them.

The car has many issues. Admit it. A very wrong gearbox, terrible tyres and rear gear just don`t work at all.
I have modded it mixing Alpha 23 features and some custom wear curves. The car has a lot more sense now.

As someone who's actually a fan of this car (and has preferred VRC FA23 over RSS FH23), I can understand why it's too much. However that's what F1 cars are nowadays, just a multitude of systems on 4 wheels, so for it to be simulated and be adjustable to anyone's style is appreciated. Also at this point in AC's lifespan, CSP is basically a necessity now so I don't see why FA24 shouldn't take advantage of it. (Even independent/solo modders who do road cars etc. even use them for visuals and physics). FH24 will most likely be for those that want a more "plug and play" experience, and that's totally ok in my book. Not everyone is willing nor interested in the time and effort to get all nitty gritty, but that's what GTs and older race cars are for. For me, as someone who can deal and is used to the faff of complicated mods in a multitude of sims, I honestly dont mind the heavy and complicated CSP integrations. (Or I'm just a masochistic nerd, who knows 😂) I appreciate the POV of this review and the honesty of how some things are not for everyone.

I think this is the coolest car in AC. The detail and complexity make it seem more realistic than any other mod. I make indivual car specific controls for almost every car. I also have a GSI Hyper SL. So all the mappings work AWESOME! I would recommend you might try the non-csp version, sounds like that might suit you better? I enjoy your videos, thanks for the review.

Hi, thanks for the review, very nice and thorough as always. I do agree that it's a little much, but given that RSS is probably going to make a simpler, yet very nice feeling mod, having an alternative in the form of the very complex VRC car is a great thing in my eyes.
I also wanted to touch on at least one of the points you made not directly related to the car itself. At 11:30 you said that Halo is ineffective, since most of the crashes happened because of the drivers knowing it was there to protect them. I agree, to a point. You could make the same argument about any safety feature on a race car. I remember Sir Jackie Stewart (not sure it was him though) said in one interview how drivers back in his day really respected each other on the track, because they knew the consequences and therefore didn't risk so much when racing. Yet safety in motorsport has been improving year by year since. Why? Because not every crash is due to some driver doing a stupid, risky move. Accidents by their nature are unpredictable and sure, drivers would be much more cautious if they were racing in bathtubs on wheels, however arguing that an increase in safety leads to more accidents therefore increasing safety is undesirable is nonsense, because that line of thought does not take into account the severity of these accidents. Even though an increase of safety causes more accidents, it simultaneously decreases the probability of each of them to cause injuries or fatalities.

Yes RSS is very good, however it doesn’t even come close to VRC when it comes to prototypes and formula hybrid/Alpha. Also the beginning of the video, all that complaining threw me off. I dislike how complex this mod is and how they never fixed the tyres of the 2022 Formula Alpha or previous cars. I think it's pretty fun overall but I wonder how much I'm shooting myself in the foot for not tweak things while driving. Sometimes the behaviour is weird so I dunno how much is lack of talent and how much is not tweaking adjustments for the specific corner.

I think this car shows why RSS moved away from formula hybrid. They got what they felt was as realistic as anyone even us nerds could want without going overboard. Instead they are now branching out and doing more diverse and imo interesting projects than another modern formula car. Have to respect the craftsmanship but doesn’t mean I enjoy it anymore then say FH21. There’s a reason it takes a whole engineering team to set these things up irl, and not a guy in a sim rig.
