Do Pit next. He’s a good character who people are sleeping on. He easily has one of the best off stage games and can actually kill now. The only things that are bad about him are his recovery and his air speed.
In practice, Ness and Lucas's PK Fire actually has VERY short range. Usually its 1/3rd of a battlefield stage. And it is very telegraphed since there is like hakf second of startup and a voice line.
@@Crit_Phil I couldn't think of much for ness so I threw that in there. At a less competitive level I find that ness is harder to use. Lucas has loads of gimmicks and cheese that are hard to avoid without experience and also Ness' recovery isn't as great as lucas' one cause he doesn't have a tether and it's shorter so you need to be more careful offstage
This is honestly just a “bought a Nintendo switch yesterday” kinda guide, seeing as the game was very new at the time this was made. He missed a lot of things, like the second pk thunder if he hits the side of the stage, the fact that up smash can be charged for a second to deal much more damage and KB, the properties of off-stage stalling with pk flash, how early his f-tilt kills, etc. As I said, extremely basic guide.
There are some important PK thunder edge guarding tricks you forgot to mention. If you hit an opponent with the tail of a PK thunder it stops them in place, and it won't bring them out of helpless. It's really good for gimping double jumps and recoveries. Also, the head of the PK thunder always knocks the opponent in the direction it came from. You can stage spike an opponent by hitting them with a PK thunder that's between them and the stage.
@@desklime3026 Problem is, no matter how good you are with a character, everyone else just remembers the spammers that the character has. Even though the character has tons of tech into it.
For the pk fire, down throw to fair, you can get three fairs which can kill at medium - high percentages. Granted, you need to recover using pk thunder, but it’s doable
I wanted to pick up ness so i searched for a guide and your channel popped up, really good guide. you got a new sub and btw I would like a villager guide
I love this series. It’s informative but not an overload of information. It’s not barebones, but also stays on track. I think I found my new series to teach my friends how to play new characters
I am a ness main and you got most of it down. The thing I want to talk about is dash attack. Is is not safe on shield if you are up close and personal with it. Unless they are trying to land, try not to get all 3 hits in. If you use dash attack on shield up close, the you would get punished. The last hit of dash attack is disjointed, which makes it a good pressure and bait. Dash attack also combos into forward air, at low to medium percents but is it is not true and your opponent can air dodge or jump it, which can set up for reads.
heres a tip for ness mains (like me): lets sayn ur fighting sumone, and they lke doing dash attacks, you can read them and short hop and down air, which will stun them for a while
OMG he's so broken, Bair is safe, Fair is safe, Nair is safe and great out of shield, Magnet is a kill confirm and combo move, PK fire combos or if they can SDI well, Just don't use it, But up air also kills super early
Super underrated combo imo is dair on an enemy on the ground, jump immediately when you land and uair, only launches them enough after like 30% to combo. Its easy to get a kill off of at higher percents
Also, Idk if this was already stated but: His bat also acts as a reflector for projectiles as well as Lucas's bat Ness's up smash works on the ledge while facing towards the ledge I'll add more if I think of any. Nice video btw
Oof I’m a ness secondary and really good with him I’m trying out new stuf and thought ur vids always fun didn’t help lots tho I see how it helps new ppl really cool!
Another tip for Ness, his up smash is good for breaking shields as well, knowing that it can hit multiple times, and if the opponent holds shield, fully charged, Ness' up smash can break it. I know from experience
One thing is that down throw->forward air can combo into another forward air if you jump. Also, with some characters and depending on di (I think?) you can do Pk fire > down throw > forward air > (jump) forward air > pk fire You can’t consistently follow up on the last pk fire but if your opponent messes up you might be able to pk thunder
