- Kathleen opens the show drinking a Beignet Au Lait Blonde Ale from Faubourg Brewing Company in New Orleans. She reviews her fun weekend in New Orleans, touring St. Louis Cemetery No. 1, buying art in Jackson Square, eating gumbo at the Oceana Grill, and a sold out show at the Joy Theater.
QUEEN NEWS: Kathleen shares Mardi Gras beads with the Court, and advises that Queen Tanya Tucker helped Wynonna close The Judd’s final weekend of touring.
“GOOD BAD FOOD”: In her quest for delicious not-so-nutritious food, Kathleen samples Zapp’s Evil Eye kettle chips, Elmer’s New Orleans CheeWees, and Swamp Dragon Bourboon Hot Sauce.
UPDATES: Kathleen gives updates on Pablo Escobar’s cocaine hippos, and Ralphie the Jerk Frenchie’s training progress.
“HOLY SHIT THEY FOUND IT”: Kathleen is amazed to read about the discovery of a new Moai statue on Easter Island, a rare Jurassic-era bug is found at an Arkansas Walmart, mysterious 60-foot dragon bones are uncovered in China, and an 1869 shipwreck is found in Lake Superior.
FRONT PAGE PUB NEWS: Kathleen shares articles on the history of New Orleans’ Krewe of Zulu and their lucky Mardi Gras coconuts, the last surviving original member of Lynyrd Skynyrd dies at age 71, a new report finds that only 50% of murders are solved., Prince Harry broadcasts a live session with a trauma expert, the governor of Tennessee signs a historic bill restricting drag shows, Adidas has $500M worth of Kanye sneakers and no good options, and the Beanie Baby founder is holding a legendary California hotel “hostage.”
WHAT TO WATCH THIS WEEK: Kathleen recommends watching her new stand-up Special “Hunting Bigfoot” on Prime Video.
🥳Congrats to Mama Termite for making 78 episodes more from when she said she may close the pub around ep.50 🤣
So glad she kept going, highlight of my week🍻🍺🍻
I am so happy she’s kept the pub open 😊 it is hands down the best podcast IMO I always look forward to it
Just watched your set on Prime and never stopped tearing up from end to end.I needed that so badly. Thank you!!!!!. Glad to find you here now in Tubesville too!.New sub.
Wooohooo!!! Listening now at work. These are the highlight of my Wednesdays
The Tennessee drag bill is cause there were events at public libraries where drag performers would read stories to kids. No shows, no lip syncing, just a drag Queen reading “green eggs and ham” frankly, I would be more worried about many other things than that!
Highlight for the Hump day!!!! Thank you Momma Termite
I'm born and raised in New Orleans! Living in Texas now. I miss it for sure. Love your specials especially the Catholic jokes. LOL
The PubCast is obviously a lot of work , THANK YOU for doing this for us.
Thanks to the pubcasts for enlightening me on Mothman. I've found the festival in WV and they also have a 5k race. How can I pass that up! Well I can't and have registered for it. Can't wait to visit the Mothman Museum.
And I love New Orleans too. I loved being on the Krewe of Orpheus one time. It’s Harry Connick jr Krewe. One of the best times of my life. I didn’t see any coconuts but threw plenty of beads. Brought some home too. I did a haunted walking tour too. Great vacation
In 6th grade at St. Louis, 1966, our nun showed us the second reel of "The Guns of Navarone" right after lunch and recess. It was unscheduled and unexpected. Apparently, the convent rented both reels from the library for themselves and watched them the night before. But our nun missed the second reel because she had a meeting somewhere. So, the only way she could see it was to show it to her class the day it was due to be returned to the library. Imagine 50 eleven-year-olds trying to follow "The Guns of Navarone" starting with Part 2. We would have been better off with a drag show. That was one loud movie.
What surprises me most about the new law in TN against drag shows is that TX didn't do it first.
Thank you for posting this so early. Happy Wednesday for me. You did great work on your math today. Don't be ashamed about counting with your fingers. I have a masters in math and I still count on my fingers. Some people are tactile when they process information. You do whatever works for you.
THANK YOU for keeping the fun coming. Enjoying the pub cast every time.
OMGOMGOMG Kathleen did you see that Netflix has a Malaysian flight 370 documentary out today girl I know you’re happy
I saw that as well! 🎉🎉
She had a post of her watching it
Will watch it later this week hopefully
Watching it. Sad to say, I wouldn’t put anything past Putin, knowing what we know now.
I love the range of stuff you find. From the jerk dog getting better all the way to drag queen laws. When and where do you find this? I wish Jeopardy had questions in your categories. It would make the show more interesting even if nobody knew the name of the ship found at the bottom of Lake Superior. Stuff you didn’t know you wanted to know, but are thankful Kathleen Googled it for you.
Hump day pick me up. I LOVE some updates mama Termite
UPDATE!!! Raspberry Rallie Cookies. Love the pubcast. Have been a termite forever. Am also a troop leader for the girl scouts and wanted to clear up the Raspberry Rallie drama. So....... Girl Scout Cookies are sold year round regionally. My region is Heart of the Hudson, here in NY. Each region was given a certain amount of the raspberry cookies to sell. In our region the cookies went on sale in mid-february. The raspberry ones were only available for ordering on-line for direct delivery. Here, they sold out in 1 day. The little brownie bakers (yes, that is what they call themselves) didn't anticipate the demand for the cookies and under produced. So most likely, the ones that you are seeing on ebay are from other regions that also sold out early. The Girl Scout organization is super miffed about the whole thing for many reasons. These kids bust their bottoms to sell these cookies and earn .50 cents a box for their troops. Its a super bummer that people are taking advantage of supply and demand. Any who, should you find yourself in need of thin mints again, just let me know, my little trooper would be more than happy to be your dealer, I mean, supplier. I mean, support the girl scouts! forever your termite, me.
Dear Ms Madigan, I'm a big fan and have been for years! I just had an amazing experience while listening to your podcast. I was exhausted, and sitting at my desk I fell asleep, but my dreams were you telling me all this things, I kept talking back to you, but you didn't listen to my comments... LOL. It was perhaps a 2 or 3 minutes sleep, but the dreams were sooo vivid! I was even with you in a car while you drove. Anyway, thank you so much for giving me such a thrill dream!
Wow, J.B.! I thought I was the only one who dreams about MaMa T when I fall asleep late at night listening to the podcasts. Dreams are crazy. Kathleen just makes them nuttier.
I have had 4 dreams, so nice to know I'm not the only one dreaming about Kathleen🤣
Maybe it's voodoo LOL
Oh My Dog!
I’m watching MH370 on Netflix
I can hardly pay attention because I keep hearing your voice in the comedy bit you did. You nailed it!
Watching Episode 128 now, while I type this. Regarding voodoo, we went to New Orleans in the late 80's and loved it. Got my cards read in Marie Laveau's House of Voodoo. Voodoo and Santeria (a cross between Catholicism and Voodoo) have a strong presence in New Orleans. Being raised Catholic, after my visit, I researched and read a quite a bit about them both. They're both like any other religion, you can take anything to a bad place or a good place, depending on your intention and what you're praying for. I know quite a few Catholics and self professed Christians who pray for bad things to happen to people for all sorts of reasons. FWIW, I agree with your thoughts about not opening portals.
You are " it shit" in the verbiage of my youth. Rarely post but never miss your readings or your being you being a bloody excellent ride. Thank you xo 😸
Pubcast is getting hard. So much to Google. Always have my airplane bottle of Fireball handy since it’s my Madigan drinking word.
Loved this podcast as it was an especially good one. N'awlins is a great place to go. You owe it to yourself to visit during Mardi Gras. The parades build up to Tuesday's parades. Tuesday's are just wow. The food is excellent year 'round.
Thank you for loving my home town Mama Termite! We love you here.
I watched both your Netflix shows this morning while catching up on cross-stitch projects, then discovered your RUclips channel and I have to say that you are tons more funny (
Welcome to the termite treasure trove, on my third trip through and always hear some hilarious thing I missed🤣
🎉 Happy Lunch time to me!!! Long John Silvers, Mama Termite and Paddles... Happy Hump Day indeed! 😁
🍻🍺🍻
@Debra Helmlinger Cheers! 🍻🍸🍻
Hello Momma Termite! You made my Wednesday! Travel safely!
I don’t understand parents that are worried about drag queens but will bring their kids to eat at Hooters! Talk about exposing them to a sexualized environment! And don’t get me started on toddlers in pageants! 🤣🤦🏻♀️ Yikes! love you Kathleen!! ❤
Nobody pronounces r’s like this lady. Real pirate! Arrrrr! Firrrrarrr! 🔥
☠️🍻🍺🍻☠️
"This pubcast doesn't guarantee anything is right" 🤣🤣🤣
I’ll see you in the FL panhandle in April!♥️🙌🏻
Congrats on the Yoda grass 👏 yes cats love it
If you ever have the opportunity to, try Frogmore stew. It is a South Carolina dish of hot sausage, shrimp, potatoes and corn. (No frogs)
Love your podcasts. Thanks for taking the time to bring me smiles.
We saw you in NOLA. Fabulous! Also ate at Oceana after your show. I'm going back to NOLA to see Stevie Nicks on April 2. You should come!!
Fun Fact: The Catholic Saint Joan of Arc was ultimately burned at the stake for wearing men’s clothing. They tortured her for days trying to get her to recant her visions of God, but when they couldn’t make her say that her visions were from the Devil, the accusation they used against her as an excuse to burn her, was that she wore men’s clothing into battle.
So ethically, the Tennessee governor is really no better than the men who burned a saint.
I mean, this is that old school, Dark Ages-level stupid. 🙄😡
Love N O LA! Our daughter went to college there and went for many years!at Mardi Gras too!
Our newest fav show is Shrinking on Apple tv- so good!!!!Harrison Ford and Jason Segel
Funny I’m from Houston Kathleen and we are the same age…..in mid 60’s and 70’s we once had lighting bugs galore ,now they are all pooped in the city….gotta go 40-50 miles north to see em now…..and yes we have large flying tree roaches
Poofed*
Yeah, when I was last in New Orleans, I went looking for Anne Rice's house, too. I was sure I'd found it, because they had a big dummy standing on the balcony -- I can't recall if it was a vampire or a witch. But they made it easy to find, which was great of them. I wish I'd attended one of her Vampire Balls, she was such a generous person to her fans.
If ya wanna hear a voodoo story, I got a voodoo story for ya. I think voodoo is both good and bad, just like life. But yeah, once a doorway is opened, it's not so easy to even find that door again, much less close it.
Here’s the thing about voodoo, Kathleen: if you do it, and you don’t know what you’re doing, you’re going to have a ‘rebound’ effect (you’ll experience a degree of the curse you send to anyone else). That’s why you pay a Santeria priestess to do your dirty work. And while you *can* plug into all spirit energy, good and bad, you’re here to learn how best to use your own spirit energy. If you’re doing that (in your case, being the light of goodness and humor you are for the world, and you’re *killing* that), you won’t need voodoo. Also, Marie LaVeau’s shop won’t sell any black magic services or artifacts because they understand their customers don’t know what they’re doing with voodoo. They’re very ethical (and they know the people who do practice voodoo in the area don’t need their wares). The worst thing you could get there is a justice wanga (charm). Finally, be happy you don’t know more about voodoo than you do because it means you don’t have a reason to know. Trust me, you don’t want a reason to know. Be like Jim Henson and thank the spirits (your lazy fat ass guardian 😇) that are protecting and helping you each morning, if you don’t already. 🙂 Can’t wait to see you in Boston April 1st!!!!!! (Masked and vaxxed.) PS: pretty sure Lee’s ‘drag show’ performance law is a step towards criminalizing trans people. 😔 So on the list of sh*t to care about, we need to be good trans allies. 🙂
Got my tickets for the Wausau show! So excited to see you live! 😅😂🤣
My husband wouldn't allow our son to hang a dream catcher over his bed...no open portals 😂
I would love a shirt with tiny frogs drinking beer. Novel 💡 🎉
No ouija boards were allowed in our house (also no liquor). However, we were also told no physical item is evil. It's what you believe about it that matters. I laugh about any of that stuff now. None of it has any power in my world.
I love this perspective
@Kathleen, Santa Barbara is so beautiful, you should definitely go. Their Mexican food is top notch.
Used to live in NO years ago near AR in the GD later moved to SC across from the GD. Can recommend anything from Abita Brewery, especially Purple Haze, Turbodog, and Abita Amber. Just watched your special, Hunting Bigfoot. It was fantastic. Lafitte's is great. If I am not mistaken, One Eyed Jack's recently closed. The Victorian lounge in The Columns Hotel is great. Le Bon Temps on Magazine is a low key watering hole. Too many great places to mention. Mardi Gras was great in the late 90s when I lived uptown on St. Charles.
Just announced- Ranch flavored ice cream. I NEED you to try some on the podcast. Van Leeuwen Launched a Hidden Valley Ranch Ice Cream!!!!!
Phillip was a Mountbatten, Diana a Spencer, Queen Elizabeth was a Windsor. You just ask Google what was their name at birth.:-)
I missed it somehow... What happened to the Chaka cutout?
You have to check out a spotlight type series of articles about a cold case of a Monsignor killed 1965?, in Buffalo, NY, and after 1 mon case is shut down!!! Very, very interesting!
Loved your special. Couldn’t figure out how to leave rating. St. Pat’s in St. Louis is the best. ❤️
Have you seen this Mama Termite? Hidden Valley Ranch flavored ice cream.?
I think you should review it for the pubcast please!
Have only been to New Orleans once, so far, in 2006 with the American Library Association after Katrina to help get their public Libraries get going again. Great time, only got a little drunk, drunk the 1st night. I had a couple of Hurricanes on Bourban St. during the day but felt nothing, ended up for dinner a place called Port of Call near our B & B, the Banana Courtyard on the last st of the French Quarter. Anyway the Barmaid recommended a Tsunami, calling it a Pirate drink, that was enough for me but after drinking the whole drink, I read the fine print on the plastic cup that said to be consumed by 2 people, wasted and hungover the next day and late for my convention🤣 had a great time at the convention, finding great hole in the wall restaurants and live music bars, riding the trolley out to the retired float playground for kids, getting in free to the photo exhibit of the aftermath of Katrina and the highlight, visiting Marie Lovoue's grave. SPOOKY, all kinds of offerings surrounding her cyrpt made by people that got a wish granted by placing their hand on her cyrpt, if it comes true you must return with an offering😱 mine hasn't been granted, yet
My friend used to clean Ty Warner's house in the Chicago area. She had all sorts of weird stories about him and his ''rules'' for his house.
Love everything you do. Looking forward to seeing you at the show in Connecticut . If you would like a feel good story, look into the Tamworth, NH Community Nurse Association .
Not that it really matters LOL but Prince Harry's last name is Windsor-Mountbatten.
Mountbatten-Windsor
WhatsApp is just like texting but you don’t have to have an iPhone. I guess some mobile phones don’t ‘support’ WhatsApp, but it’s really handy to have in Mexico, too, because you may be wanting to communicate with people that don’t have fancy phones.
Very proud to be a loyal Termite
i'm a native and still go to Oceana...very good...oh and to sound like a native it's "praaah-lean" not "pray-lean".
Another fun episode.
There was a Drag Queen Library Hour. They would read stories to kids.
My great grandma bought a plot at Valhalla in 1909. North St Lou
The Royal last name is Mount Batten Windsor. (Learned that watching the Crown!)
The bar in E St Louis? Was it Faces??? I used to go there all the time, from high school on until it was closed down.
I was just wondering the same thing. Had to be Faces.
There is an article today in the Washington Post about what it is like driving the Oscar Meyer wienermobile for a year...thought of you!
Is Tennessee aware that Dolly Parton is essentially a drag queen? And she has done a great deal for the state and children the world over. Plus, not all drag queens do sexualized/adult oriented content just like not every comedian works blue. The bill seems bonkers.
Yes, she does so much for so many but she is not a drag queen
@@debrahelmlinger6256 Dolly Parton to RuPaul in an interview* See, you’re a drag queen. Those are like costumes to you. This is my living self,” she said. “I am a living drag queen."
Uhhhh As a Nebraskan I had no idea about the 12th Victim. Checking it out!
As a Nebraskan I think you will find Charles Starkweather’s story interesting. He was actually held overnight in the old jail here where I live.
Hi Kathleen! His name is Harry Mountbatten Windsor. Cheers! Roy xo
Lake Superior hypothermia cold even in summer. Wade in to cool off and your feet get ice cream headaches. You have to go beyond triple dog dare to go up to knees.
Chris Rock is great 👍 he said what he said 👏 finally 👏
See you in Huntington!!!
Holy shit you forgot about Yoda plant? Holy shit I was on the road again and forgot to watch from hotel. Must be your only follower who has forgotten. Now I can chat with myself again 🙁
Hey Kathleen! 10 of us are going to be at Huntington tonight to wish my husband a happy 60th birthday at your show. Any chance you can give him a shout out? His name is Mark and he is the judges husband that you poked fun at episode four because he made fun of my handwriting, we were the ones that brought you the chips from the Guinness factory. His name is Mark Quigley and they were 10 of us coming tonight. Can’t wait either way.
You can collect unemployment if you quit under certain circumstances, and depending on the regulations that vary by state. You can also collect if you're not receiving wages like that and claim you were laid off. Basically, you file a UI claim and it's up to the employer to deny, or not respond, to the state when questioned. There might be a problem if no wages were reported and the employer doesn't respond, but as long they paid into state under your name and SSN during the qualifying lookback period, you have a shot.
They sweep you off the top shelf to the bottom and put the next one on top to cook.
I love yr anna delvey accent...i now love to use it at wrk...but had 1 person truely has natural anna delvey accent and i couldnt stop fan girling ....she has no idea who anna is and i couldnt explain it....
Have awesome... safe weather weekend...
Its sooo nasty out
I saw no coconuts 4 years ago.
I wonder who came up with the experiment to see if a hippopotamus could bite through a canoe. Aluminum or wooden? Probably tried both.
Don't ya' just love the Catholics.
Coming from Nazarene upbringing, no smokie, no drinkie,, Catholic is the only organized religion I would consider joining🤣
Those darn shoes cost about $15.00 to make..
Where do I send my picture of my husband and me watching Searching for Bigfoot?
What do you think if this name for a show
I WANT MORE MADIGAN
Kristi Noem and South Dakota State University .. drag show. She got a bit excited about a drag show on campus.
BOOM!
Irish happy parade 😉🍺😃🤩
Graceland !
Voodoo is for entertainment only. What was the movie with Al Pacino & Lisa Bonet ? from Cosby show? Dark Heart or something. Super spooky with many snakes and crazy eyes
I love your podcast! And agree wholeheartedly about shoes from some despicable companies being given to needy.
I respectfully request that you not whisper as I may be missing something really important. 🙃
Some or maybe all of the legislative activity targeting drag queen activity & children relates to drag queens reading children's books to kids at libraries. We often fear what we do not understand. That fear all too often leads to hate.
What is up with the fire? I'm a newish follower.
royals go by Mountbatten-Windsor
yes, the royal last name was Mountbatten until it was changed to Windsor in an attempt to make it more Brittish sounding when being German fell out of fashion due to the world wars. So now the British monarchy asserts that the name Mountbatten-Windsor is used by members of the Royal Family who do not have a surname, when a surname is required.
Harry Mountbatten-Windsor
Plant then leave for a few days. May work for ya
Tower Grove ?
The rules are for thee, not me!! crazy-pants!!
I look forward to hearing your comments on the mh370 Netflix show…..
Harry...Mountain Batten-Windsor
Kathleen, I sure hope you will review/critique the three episodes of Netflix's documentary MH370. So many theories!
Harry’s last name is Windsor
