Sawasdee ka! I'm thrilled to hear that you love Thailand ❤ You’re absolutely right. Chiang Mai is a popular choice among digital nomads, a lower cost of living compared to Bangkok, with loads of expat community and co-working spaces. Phuket also has many affordable accommodations but it can be more touristy in certain areas. If you're planning to spend quite a long while, I’d suggest considering many secondary cities, for a more affordable and relaxed experience. They might not popular for tourists, but most cities have charming cultural atmosphere, temples, markets, and beautiful natural surroundings. If you prefer Bangkok but still want to connect with people from your country, there are specific areas known for their expat communities. Sukhumvit road is popular among Japanese, with many Japanese restaurants, supermarkets, and community events. Silom and Sathorn areas have a significant expat from Western countries, with many international businesses and co-working spaces, etc. By the way, I'm currently in London, but I'll be back in Thailand very soon and hope to see you guys in Thailand!
I like this. I ve only seen your Kdp vids and this js much more about you while at the same time giving very easy info on an intersting topic. Lots of us do KDP to be digital nomads. Also us older people
I love the detail to the practicalities that matter the most to me. I love visiting anywhere, but as a budding nomad, I appreciate your in depth analysis
Thanks, Sean. Although I’m not a digital nomad at this time, I love your detailed reviews. I’m retired and pretty rooted to my little piece of paradise on a beautiful river in SC, but I do love to travel. I always feel I’d like to stay longer everywhere ( most places) I travel to really get to know the place and the people, so your reviews satisfy some of that curiosity for me. I love your KDP videos, too, because that’s what I do! I hope you have a pleasant experience in Maylasia, can’t wait to hear what you think of it.
A warm welcome to Malaysia! I am your big fan here and have been following through your videos for the past 6 months. Hope that I can have a chance to meet you and bring you to places that you might like to visit. 😊
I stayed in Phuket for 6 months, then moved to Malaysia (Melaka) for 6 years. Loved it but it's extremely hot and humid and after 6 years on a tourist visa and visa runs every 6 months, I moved to New zealand. There is the " my second home "visa option if you have $15000000 rm in your bank account.
Very insightful video, I agree with everything you said except Koh Phangan, I myself more a chill person and not party type, there are many places to relax without loud annoying parties like in Haad Rin, I recommend you to try Haad Yao beach area or Salad beach if you want quite, nature, and amazing beaches not overly crowded. Thanks again for the info.
Very cool! Happy you had a great experience in Thailand. This video makes me want to move to chiang Mai lol. I’m super excited to be moving to Hanoi next week, and considering hopping over to chiang mai in the next few months.
I've been around the world to 50+ countries and lived in many too. You just hit the 2 best countries in the world for affordable, convenient living by the beach. Bali is best for me because there are waves to surf, plus you missed some of the most epic spots that most STILL don't know about where there is no traffic and still all the convenience, but Thailand is definitely right up there too and you're right, in general locals in places like Phuket are not going to be quite as nice as the north, although you can still find tons of super nice peeps, they are just jaded by millions of idiotic tourists who have rolled through there the past 20-30 years, and the southern thai are a little more stubborn in general (you know who you are southern thai peeps haha) You might actually like a few spots in Ecuador and Mexico if you haven't been as digital nomad who needs good wifi, good food options, chill vibes, etc (I've been to almost all of central and s america), but for sure Asia really can't be beat when considering ALL factors. Philippines has a few epic spots too, but Bali and Thailand as a digital nomad is hard to beat. If you wanna mix it up and try something away from the beach, there are some random spots like a little town in Bulgaria that is becoming pretty well known at this point. Few spots off coast of Europe but that water is too cold. South Africa could be worth a visit, etc But yeah, Thailand and Bali cant really be beat as a digital nomad in your 20s-40s. It is what it is.
Bali is problematic because not all passports are allowed to enter Indonesia, so that's a big issue for many people, that's why Thailand is the best and also Costa Rica and Mexico.
Great review of Thailand, I really love it here. You're right about Phuket, in the last year thousands of Russians have come over to Thailand mostly landing in Phuket. Many locals there are not happy with them and there has been a lot of issues and tensions. Apparently there are so many Russians in Phuket Russia has opened a Consulate. I know the Thai government has extended an invitation to Putin to come over for a visit. The Russian Foreign Minister came over to open the Consulate not too long ago. Really appreciate all your videos on KDP I'm just starting my journey with publishing. Thanks for all your time and effort. Stay safe.
You have not been in Medellin in a while. It changed to eternal summer. Not humid. But hot. We left it for Oriente towards the international airport. Better air and wealthier people, safer, better quality of life.
Hey Sean! I'm currently living in Thailand (Chiang Rai). I did the opposite to you. Lived in Bali and then went to Thailand. Spent some time in Malaysia too. The internet in Thailand is better than Bali but we found food was much easier in KL in Malaysia. Looking forward to following you more and learning about KDP (we have a coaching business so looking to do KDP to keep the kids busy and out of trouble!) Safe travels and enjoy! 🎉🎉

Wow 😊 Sawasdee ka.🙏🙏 .. Very glad to know that you visited our country. Your review proved that you were happy with Thailand trip. We are more than happy to welcome you again na.ka. ⚘️💛⚘️🙏🙏😊😊 ❤❤
BTW, it’s a 60 day Permission to Stay stamp that can be extended for another 30. I spent 60 days in Koh Samui and concluded the same thing for the same reasons as you did Phuket. I don’t know how Putin is fighting a war. All the men left to avoid the war. All of SE Asia is full of Russian draft dodgers. After a trip to Sri Lanka I returned to Hua Hin, Thailand and wow, way better here. I’m getting my Retirement Visa here. I just rented a nice studio apartment for 9500/$273 p/month. Price of food and Grab is 1/2 what Koh Samui. Safe travels!
I have the same feeling about Phuket. It was a nice place to visit for a holiday, but not a good place to stay for long with expensive prices and unfriendly people. BTW. I think Koh Phangan is more of a spiritual hippie mecca than a party place these days, I didn’t like that either, and it had the worst Thai food I ever had (though a good choice of vegan western food).
Hey there. Great video. Im planning to spend a few months in thailand an i was wondering if you could share the name of the airbnb you stayed at in Koh Samui? Been searching in the area you mentioned, but there are so many.
The first time you’re about to use an abbreviation, you spell it out. After watching the whole video, I still don’t know what KDP means XD Just a tip. By the way, are you like native Spanish? Because there are a few quirks in your speaking that make me think English is not your first language, such as “People is” instead of using the plural form. Thanks for the great review!
I think you are comparing a country to a province so i think it’s natural that there are more options in Thailand, but I’m Thai and I have never been to Indonesia so I’m just guessing here.
Hi Sean, I think cookbooks have lost its demand comparing to earlier days. I am talking about a newly published cookbook. What are the beginner friendly non fiction categories we can try?
most prolly ego sense of accumulation, u know how it's an 'achievement' for the ego to accumulate stuff - be that money, travels, knowledge, information, experiences, novelty items/food, etc. That's why in Buddhism or zen it's called the 'hungry ghost' haha. I've met people like that, always on the run, always on to the next thing, seeing everything (including human beings) as commodity to use/consume, to collect, until death, eternally filling the void deep within :)
I have booked plane tickets to Chiang Mai in February for 34 days. But I heard about the smokey season. Should I find another place to stay or it's not that bad?
Thank you Sean. I'm Thai. I love the way you display your info, combined with your personality that make it way trustful. But my observation is that you are comparing a city (Bali) with a country (Thailand). It's relatively not quite, imo.😅
Enjoyed the video. 2 questions/ 1. I sell fitness and personal training purses on line. Would that work on Amazon but with a personalized touch. 2. How’s the eating live in Thailand for single men? Normal relationship type of girls. Not looking for rachet girls lol
Phuket is a popular destination for Russians with money especially now when most of Europe is closed along with a lot of other destinations. Which is not always a good thing - having to many of us in one place.
@@johnnyzaza I suppose because there are direct flights from major Russian cities to Phuket. Phuket and Pattaya in fact are most popular with Phuket being a more expensive option.
I don't agree with you regarding cost of living. Bangkok is more expensive than Bali. But then of course it depends on locations etc, but overall, Bangkok more expensive than Bali. Jakarta more expensive than Bali too. Of course if you rent a Villa is different than if you rent a 1 br or studio.
