Great video Coach, thank you! Question: So if you are essentially mirroring the guard when you're 2 gapping, does that mean you have to delay your getoff in order to be able to react and step/strike to his step?

Thanks Big Dawg!
Am a middle school defensive line coach, thanks for the video, quick question what the best way to get my guys in the perfect three-point stance
good analysis. I've always questioned the use of stance depending on which side you're on. so based off what you've said, would you encourage players to switch stances depending on the side they're playing on? per say: LE puts his left hand on the dirt and vice versa?
edit: this is in regards to playing end on not only base stance but pass rushing as well.
Thank you and great question. I don’t base stance off of side, left or right, for me the stance is based on the scheme and the objective of the defense and that DLinemen.. Right or left, if the objective is to attack the man, than that Defensive linemen should be in a man hand stance. If the objective or scheme is to attack the gap, like on a stunt for example, than a gap hand stance would be better suited for that defensive linemen. If the Defensive Scheme causes for the DL to line up head up and 2 gap, than a balanced stance would be better because of the versatility the stance provides to work on all attacking planes.
Pass rush stance is a whole different concept n my opinion. For pass rush, what becomes important to know is what is the strike or pass rush move or at least know what type of pass rush move. The that DE a power rusher or finesse? Are they a speed to power rusher or a speed to finesse? Or all power or quick finesse off the line. I don’t want to get into to much detail but that rusher, if they really know what they are doing, can really put themselves in a great position if they know how to prep their steps with a good stance.
Again just my opinion.
Again, great question that I can really expound a lot on but wanted to keep it simple.
Thanks for watching, commenting and questioning.

@@FiveStarLinemenAcademy great response. so if the DE was more of a power rusher that's twitchy but has a power step off the line & uses the long arm, bull rush, push pull & occasionally the double hand swipe, how would you put that kind of player in the best position (hand strike) & stance to succeed?
Big Dawg, hope you get this. What sort of stance would be more appropriate for a 3 - 4 front as the end?
Big dawg need your help.. my step son just strted freshman football and i coach but dline in the past and he plays DT.. I want to help him but he doesn't really want to watch film to get better but I don't want to push him away from it.. he got the tools to be good though
Bearded soul78 what’s up BIG DAWG! I hear you. I wouldn’t push him. I would just try to point a few things out while watching a football game on TV. I’m not sure how long your watching film with him or what kind of film. Is it his game film or the team they are playing? What grade is he in m? Maybe try a few plays only? Does he have a favorite player?
@@FiveStarLinemenAcademy he's a freshman and no favorite player really.. I call him over to watch a game with me then point stuff out break down rushes etc.. he like ok then go back to his phone... I want give him what I didn't have a real mentor
Hey people still watch this my son just started
