If he stood in the Evil Ryu state he would have probably won. Oh well. The next match is going to be fun. Because it would show how dark the Kirby series really is.

anthony gonzalez Neither has Evil Ryu. Only as a what if character when it comes to games. Movies, both Evil Ryu and Power of Nothingness has been shown in the SF4 movie. Too boot, there is strong evidence that Ryu can access it. First, a SF4 ending has Gouken sealing up the Satsui No Hado in Ryu. And in SF3 (which takes place after SF4), Ryu doesn't seem to worry about succumbing to it. Also remember that Akuma doesn't chase after Ryu in SF3. That is because in an ending in SF4, he faces Gouken for the right to "the pup". With Akuma not going after Ryu, it seems he lost that fight. Add to the fact Ryu acts more like Gouken in SF3, and the possibility is there.

Kirby not only copies abilities, but he also enhances those abilities into other type of stuff. Like Fighter, he can use a mini Hadoken, but the enemy that he sucks to do that can't. IF he sucks up buu, (And i know this is bias) he would Turn that Chocalate move into like a Punching CHocalate move. You never know....The creativity is real. XD
What's funny about Street Fighter is there's another incredibly popular franchise that's basically a mirror image called "Killer Instinct". Even Jago is a clone of Ryu, he says in the outro "Your path ends here" as a reference to Ryu lol

I found the outcome of this a little fishy. if scorpion can teleport from the one move that would kill him everytime why wouldnt we say ryu speed (which can dodge bullets in normal mode and would be enhanced with the power of nothingness) will avoid all of scorpions attacks. If ryu is so fast wouldn't it make sense that he could get scorpion with the raging demon at least once?
Ryu dodging bullets is a reaction feat, not a speed feat. He can AVOID them, but he can't move AS FAST as them. It's like, you could outrun Robocop really easily, but are you able to catch a bullet straight out of the air?
He has the reaction speed, sure, but that doesn't mean he's going to dodge every last attack Scorpion throws at him. Yes, it's entirely possible that he could, but Scorpion would probably take the fight to the Netherrealm at some point, which would not only power him up but also weaken Ryu, eventually to the point where he'd be incapable of dodging or attacking.

Daniel Witten No, no, I'm not saying it's unfair. Ryu has a bullet timer feat, Scorpion doesn't. BUT, like I said, he can dodge a bullet, but he can't move nearly as fast as one, not to mention Ryu doesn't have that much experience using the Raging Demon, so the chances he could still hit it are still rather slim. As for where it's established that Ryu weakens in the Netherrealm, if you pause the video at about 10:02, Scorpion clearly says that his strength rises in the Netherrealm while his opponents' fades.

***** ok, here. Majin buu survived an attack from goku ssj 3. Fat buu isnt as destructive as kid buu, but is basically invincible. The only time he lost was to an evil version of himself. Just regular fat buu. But kid buu, like I said, is SO destructive and ruthless that goku SSJ3 wouldve lost, because he needed a LOT of help to beat kid buu, whom is much more powerful than ssj3. The only character in dbz (not gt, it isnt canon) that is more powerful than him is vegito, who is a fusion of goku and vegeta from use of potara earrings. Kid Buu would easily defeat kirby, for he has much more stamina and so destructive, he blew up the earth ( which came back cause of dragon balls which can grant any wish). Even majin buu has a huge chance. Any one who can survive ssj 3 can beat kirby.
I remember when this match was announced as a Next Time. I, and a lot of other people, were expecting them to pit Ryu against Liu Kang, the two poster boy protagonists for the rival fighting game series. I'm hoping they'll do that match at some point in the future, which is made more interesting by the further developments of the two characters since this match.
I predicted Scorpion would win, even if I did silently hope Ryu would win. It was a closer fight than many MK fans would let you believe though. Ryu was far from defenseless. I however do prefer Street Fighter. This was a great battle, really enjoyed it. Cant wait to see the next one and rooting for Kirby!

Great commentary. Yeah, I was kind of leaning towards Scorpion in this fight, mostly because of my personal beliefs of ninjas having a one-up against karate fighters. I like how the battle played out, it was really fun to watch. Looking forward to your next DB commentary.
@Ris Grestar, the other guy is majin buu, a villain from dragon ball z. He was firstly summoned by Bibidi, the greatest alien mage of all time, and absorbed all the Kayoshin tribe, getting from a child-like form to a chubby evil ball . The last Kayoshin remaining, Kayoshin the Sage, sealed him into an orb for centuries to come. He was then resurrected by Babidi, Bibidi's latest descendant. Alas, he was no longer habituated to the mage's branch's orders, so at the first attempt of failure, he snapped and killed his new master Babidi. He has been a good guy (he used his powers to turn people in candies) and lived with Mister Satan (i would like to see him against dan hibiki) until some guys from Satan City army nearly killed a puppy they were raising together. Thus generated a clash between his good and his bad side (a lump, grey version of him). The bad side prevailed as he absorbed the good buu himself. then we know what happened later: Goku and the gang came to rescue, yadda yadda, back to the childish form, yadda yadda, the earth blew up, yadda yadda...
I decided to watch this first with you, you have pretty a good analysis about these things and I don't know much about the other characters themselves. But the most important thing? KIIIRRRRBBBBBYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!

I told all you guys before that Evil Ryu won't make a difference against Scorpion and Final Bison didn't do shit against Shao Kahn so what makes you think Evil Ryu will be any better?
I think buu will outlast kirby. Unless kirby can completely annihilate buu, hes got no chance. Buu has come back from oblivion on multiple occasions and is nigh un-killable. His hyper regenerative ability and near infinite stamina means he can take whatever Kirby can throw at him
I get the feeling that Buu's ability to turn things into candy will backfire with Kirby's invincibility candy, and Kirby can get powers from mooks as weak as Waddle Doos and Parasol Dees, so I'm kind of leaning to Kirby. Then again, I know nothing about Buu except for the candy thing and blowing up the planet from Kami's place (while Kirby had to do perfect in Megaton Punch to crack Popstar in half), so Buu's sheer power could earn victory. I look forward to the fight!
Keep in mind I have played neither street fighter nor mortal kombat. I feel like they immediately wrote off ryu's shon goku satsu as always missing. If it hit once the battle would be over. Even if ryu has little experience with it, if he could catch scorpion off guard with it like EVERY OTHER ATTACK he uses that hits, thats gg. It was never said to be slower than his other moves, infact (at least how I think they explained it) it phases through attacks as well. He could have fit it into one of his combos. And if scorpion can tele away from that then ryu couldn't have gotten a hit in anyways.
Of the three Mortal Kombat vs Strret Figter death battles, this one is my favourite. And YAY! Kirby! I'll let you know right now though. His opponent, Majin Buu, is among DBZ's most powerful characters. Go figure that it'll take such a character to fight Kirby.
Scorpion can't die from physical attacks. The only reason he won is because he took Ryu to the Neatherrealm, which some people call hell. In the Neatherrealm, Scorpion's opponent loses health and becomes weaker by the minute. Also in the Neatherrealm, Scorpion is capable of having a endless life because of the spirits of recent opponents making him revive and resurrect after his death. Basically like Quan Chi and Ermac, except making him stronger in elemental attacks. Once again, that's why Scorpion won. If he didn't take Ryu to the Neatherrealm, he would've lost.
Daniel Yogi Before this, the only thing I knew about Ryu was his uppercut punch and I knew a lot about Scorpion. His "Get over here", fire powers, teleportation powers, hellish powers, I knew all his weapons, and knew he gets more powerful when he's in hell.

Both characters are my favorite from each franchise, though I would've preferred Ryu winning. Still, I always had an inkling Scorpion would win, so kudos to him I say. The only thing that bothers me is that they didn't focus on any of Ryu's goodness or sense of honor, like they have with other DB fighters. Ryu didn't just decide to break out the Satsui no Hado for the sake of winning. Wiz and Boomstick even pointed out that it's a constant struggle for him to contain the power, and only loses control when the desire to win overcomes him. So near the end of his fight with Scorpion, he managed to come to his senses in order to use the Power of Nothingness.
Buuuuuuut this is death battle. So murder is a thing that just happens. No sense in having another disadvantage. I was so hoping for Ryu to win. WHY CRUEL MORTAL KOMBAT STORY WHY!?!?

His name is Majinn Buu. He just has multiple forms, with the two most famous being his trademark Fat and original Kid selves.

***** ok, here. Majin buu survived an attack from goku ssj 3. Fat buu isnt as destructive as kid buu, but is basically invincible. The only time he lost was to an evil version of himself. Just regular fat buu. But kid buu, like I said, is SO destructive and ruthless that goku SSJ3 wouldve lost, because he needed a LOT of help to beat kid buu, whom is much more powerful than ssj3. The only character in dbz (not gt, it isnt canon) that is more powerful than him is vegito, who is a fusion of goku and vegeta from use of potara earrings. Kid Buu would easily defeat kirby, for he has much more stamina and so destructive, he blew up the earth ( which came back cause of dragon balls which can grant any wish). Even majin buu has a huge chance. Any one who can survive ssj 3 can beat kirby.

I remember when this match was announced as a Next Time. I, and a lot of other people, were expecting them to pit Ryu against Liu Kang, the two poster boy protagonists for the rival fighting game series. I'm hoping they'll do that match at some point in the future, which is made more interesting by the further developments of the two characters since this match.

I predicted Scorpion would win, even if I did silently hope Ryu would win. It was a closer fight than many MK fans would let you believe though. Ryu was far from defenseless. I however do prefer Street Fighter. This was a great battle, really enjoyed it. Cant wait to see the next one and rooting for Kirby!

Great commentary. Yeah, I was kind of leaning towards Scorpion in this fight, mostly because of my personal beliefs of ninjas having a one-up against karate fighters. I like how the battle played out, it was really fun to watch. Looking forward to your next DB commentary.
@Ris Grestar, the other guy is majin buu, a villain from dragon ball z. He was firstly summoned by Bibidi, the greatest alien mage of all time, and absorbed all the Kayoshin tribe, getting from a child-like form to a chubby evil ball . The last Kayoshin remaining, Kayoshin the Sage, sealed him into an orb for centuries to come. He was then resurrected by Babidi, Bibidi's latest descendant. Alas, he was no longer habituated to the mage's branch's orders, so at the first attempt of failure, he snapped and killed his new master Babidi. He has been a good guy (he used his powers to turn people in candies) and lived with Mister Satan (i would like to see him against dan hibiki) until some guys from Satan City army nearly killed a puppy they were raising together. Thus generated a clash between his good and his bad side (a lump, grey version of him). The bad side prevailed as he absorbed the good buu himself. then we know what happened later: Goku and the gang came to rescue, yadda yadda, back to the childish form, yadda yadda, the earth blew up, yadda yadda...
I decided to watch this first with you, you have pretty a good analysis about these things and I don't know much about the other characters themselves. But the most important thing? KIIIRRRRBBBBBYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!

I think buu will outlast kirby. Unless kirby can completely annihilate buu, hes got no chance. Buu has come back from oblivion on multiple occasions and is nigh un-killable. His hyper regenerative ability and near infinite stamina means he can take whatever Kirby can throw at him

I get the feeling that Buu's ability to turn things into candy will backfire with Kirby's invincibility candy, and Kirby can get powers from mooks as weak as Waddle Doos and Parasol Dees, so I'm kind of leaning to Kirby. Then again, I know nothing about Buu except for the candy thing and blowing up the planet from Kami's place (while Kirby had to do perfect in Megaton Punch to crack Popstar in half), so Buu's sheer power could earn victory. I look forward to the fight!

Seeing peoples reactions to Ryu vs Scorp makes me happy. Whether they're positive or negative.
Keep in mind I have played neither street fighter nor mortal kombat. I feel like they immediately wrote off ryu's shon goku satsu as always missing. If it hit once the battle would be over. Even if ryu has little experience with it, if he could catch scorpion off guard with it like EVERY OTHER ATTACK he uses that hits, thats gg. It was never said to be slower than his other moves, infact (at least how I think they explained it) it phases through attacks as well. He could have fit it into one of his combos. And if scorpion can tele away from that then ryu couldn't have gotten a hit in anyways.

Scorpion can't die from physical attacks. The only reason he won is because he took Ryu to the Neatherrealm, which some people call hell. In the Neatherrealm, Scorpion's opponent loses health and becomes weaker by the minute. Also in the Neatherrealm, Scorpion is capable of having a endless life because of the spirits of recent opponents making him revive and resurrect after his death. Basically like Quan Chi and Ermac, except making him stronger in elemental attacks. Once again, that's why Scorpion won. If he didn't take Ryu to the Neatherrealm, he would've lost.
DAMMIT! For a second I thought the next Death Battle would feature the Hulk.

Yay to scorpion, and omg majin buu! He is really powerful, it took the universes power to make a spirit ball that buu threw back to goku and then they had to make a wish for goku to get his energy back and it took all of that to beat him!

Both characters are my favorite from each franchise, though I would've preferred Ryu winning. Still, I always had an inkling Scorpion would win, so kudos to him I say.
The only thing that bothers me is that they didn't focus on any of Ryu's goodness or sense of honor, like they have with other DB fighters. Ryu didn't just decide to break out the Satsui no Hado for the sake of winning. Wiz and Boomstick even pointed out that it's a constant struggle for him to contain the power, and only loses control when the desire to win overcomes him. So near the end of his fight with Scorpion, he managed to come to his senses in order to use the Power of Nothingness.
Buuuuuuut this is death battle. So murder is a thing that just happens. No sense in having another disadvantage. I was so hoping for Ryu to win. WHY CRUEL MORTAL KOMBAT STORY WHY!?!?
