SCP 966, also known as Sleep Killer, are predatory creatures that resemble hairless, digitigrade humans, possessing an elongated face with a mouth lined with needle-like teeth. Their hunting methods consist of emitting a burst of a previously unknown type of wave which permanently inhibits the ability of the affected creature to sleep .

Actually that happens because you've stopped breathing in your sleep, the falling feeling happens when you take a deep breath.

Its true, sleep apnea sucks like that. You really have to concentrate at breathing properly. Also magnesium seems to help. At least with the muscle twitches; that i also sometimes get but maybe apnea too.
I like scps like this that aren’t just “It is infinitely strong and can’t be damaged, and if you look at it you die instantly” much more interesting when it’s not just completely op.

My favorite scp is either 3008, the bird that necks rotates and clicks, and while I forgot the number, they are chicken human hybrids that have an indestructible egg at all times so it can never be wiped out, and the eggs explode in acid, I like the last one because of its unpredictable, it is spontaneous and deadly

"Doctor's can't help him" lol wut? They'd be prescribing Ambien like it's candy. And in extreme cases, they'd use hypnotics or barbituates to get the person asleep. Look up fatal familial insomnia. Doctors take persistent insomnia very seriously. No doctor would say, "there's nothing I can do for you". That's extremely difficult to suspend my disbelief.

probably THE most clever way to obscure the face of Dr. Bob I've seen yet
I know this channel doesn't write these and has no input on the content, but I hate the fact that the effect of the sound waves is permanent. It ruins the whole point of making the rest of them so "grounded".
It might as well be magic at that point because it makes no sense. If they are stalking their prey, I find it would be way more interesting if the sound wave immediately activated the prey's fight or flight response.
The point is that this would mean that it would always be there, stalking you, watching you. If it can just permanently take away your ability to sleep it could just fuck off for a week and come back later, it pretty much killed you already. Infact it could just be some dude in normal clothes, follows you home then hits you with the no sleep wave the next morning and comes back a few days later and beats you to death.

The thing I love about Dr. Bob’s videos is how we see it from a victims POV and then the curtain is removed by the SCP Foundation. It puts the often clinical nature of SCP logs into a situation where they could be told as folk tales and I love it.

My insomnia and sleep paralysis monster: Finally a worthy competitor
I had something odd like this that was a kind of apnea that was actively preventing sleep… every time I’d start slipping into that minute long transition into sleep I’d wake up to a gasp because I’d stopped breathing. I had to watch tv and sort of fall into sleep “unplanned” instead… it eventually mostly stopped happening for some unknown reason, though I still occasionally experience it.
