Thank you Kyle, I really like these videos and I'm really hyped for part 2. Also if you don't know Sweet Trip I really reccomend.
The Fishmans album is called Uchū Nippon Setagaya if you wanna add it!
@@FemaleHachi i added it thank you 👍
thank you so much for this
Sweet trips velocity design comfort is so so so so good
sweet trip has multiple 10/10 albums
I look forward to the next part(s); you've got great taste in music.
Wasn’t expecting Africa Brasil. I was really into that album a couple of weeks ago. Great record.
This is super random, but for like the past half hour I had been looking for one specific album. I had seen the cover at one point but forget any details about it. I asked an ai, looked on reddit and couldn't get any jumps. I vaguely had the correlation between this specific album and your channel so I decided I would click this video since I had already watched it. You mentioned fishmans and though it was a different album I knew that must be it so I looked on spotofy and found the album art I had been looking for which was "Long Season." I don't even know who they are but since you mentioned then I might as well check them out. Thanks for helping me find that cause it was starting to bother me 😂 I know I trailed off but awesome video as always!
I literally clapped my hands and screamed "YEAAAAH" when you mentioned the Books
The Way Out is the one album I havn't listened to yet, simply because I started listening to their discography by playing a little game. If I wanted to listen to any of their albums after Thought for Food, I would have to buy a physical copy, be it CD or Vinyl. I bought Lost & Safe a year and a half ago, and I'm still hooked on that thing, and I'm so excited (and kinda sad) to listen to The Way Out. But, since it's their last album, I need to make it count. Im going to buy that vinyl in mint condition, and listen to it with some bomb ass headphones... that I dont actually own yet. In total, about $380.
It's going to be worth it. I'm so excited.
Dude you are going to absolutely love The Way Out. Sounds like you're going about it the right way as well
Great picks, I love more than any other day by ought and am so glad to hear you enjoy it too ! boards of canada is amazing and the green day pick is very based
.I cant wait for part 2 :)))
Dude I didn't know you listened to Ought, that's sick!
@@KyleReidMu Tysm ! I got into them after first hearing deceit by this heat around 2019ish.
WOOOOO! This is the kind of content I love! 👌👌👌
3:06 That "Oh my God, there's ants on my computer" straight up sounds like a Death Grips lyric to me. I hope this gets sampled whenever they make a new album... at least, I hope they will return...
I guess here's a bit of my list:
25. Microphones - The Glow, Pt. 2
24. Grouper - A I A : Alien Observer
23. Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Allelujah! Don't Bend! Ascend!
22. Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Yanqui U.X.O.
21. Sweet Trip - velocity: design: comfort
20. Sweet Trip - You Will Never Know Why
19. my bloody valentine - loveless
18. Pink Floyd - Meddle
17. Pink Floyd - Atom Heart Mother
16. The Alan Parsons Project - I Robot
15. Agalloch - Ashes Against The Grain
14. Boards of Canada - Music Has The Right To Children
13. Fishmans - 98.12.28 男達の別れ (or Long Season)
12. King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King
11. Steven Wilson - The Raven That Refused To Sing
10. Klaatu - Hope
9. Radiohead - OK Computer
8. Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon
7. Godspeed You! Black Emperor - F# A# Infinity
6. Olivia Tremor Control - Black Foliage: Animation Music
5. Radiohead - In Rainbows
4. The Caretaker - Everywhere At The End Of Time
3. Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Hands Like Antennas To Heaven
2. Radiohead - Kid A
1. Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
Yeah, there's a lot of Pink Floyd, Radiohead and GY!BE because they're my favorite bands. Also this list might shift sometimes (I only recently listened to Black Foliage and I really connected with it, it skyrocketed to my top 10s) but that's the basic idea of it and especially the top 10s (almost) never really change.
The album I’ve recently been getting into is Quarantine by Laurel Halo, it’s so otherworldly, like a future dystopia where ads are still playing on billboards, and the cover art goes hard.
Also all the people saying rym chart, your music taste is less rymcore than mine that’s for sure, pretty unique albums here
I am so happy you made this one
some great albums you like, also love the video man! Reminds me of the time I did not have 60 kilos of cocaine in the trunk of my car.
Shoutout to mukimukimanmansu for real. Also regarding Africa Brazil, you would probably vibe with these albums:
Seu Jorge - Carolina (esp the title track)
Indio da Cuica - Malandro 5 Estrelas (esp Cuica Malandra / Encantada)
Dope vid!
Thanks for the recs!
The Life Aquatic soundtrack, which has Seu Jorge covering Bowie, is phenomenal.
I was just thinking if you would put Big fish theory in this list because it's definitely in my top 15 so I'm very suprised to actually see it :)
It's sooo good!
Don't know if you know this, but '1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours' by Green Day is a compilation of Green Days first album '39/Smooth', and the EP's '1,000 Hours' and 'Slappy'.
I completely forgot about The Books. I remember listening to A Cold Freezin’ Night a few years ago and being very interested but also confused since my exposure to music at that point was just the radio. Definitely gonna go check out that album now that my music taste has grown a bit
I couldn't imagine listening to A Cold Freezin' Night after only being exposed to the radio lmao that must've been a very interesting experience
@@KyleReidMu yeah it was kind of terrifying
Nice list! I own a buncha these, and for the reason of Why Not, I'm gonna list 'em. For a few, I have a different album pick for favourite, which I'll put in brackets:
Four Tet - Everything Ecstatic
Björk - Homogenic
Death Grips - The Powers That B (Bottomless Pit)
Boards of Canada - Music Has the Right to Children (Tomorrow's Harvest)
Daft Punk - Homework (Random Access Memories)
Dismemberment Plan - Emergency & I (Change)
Big Thief - Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You
Cocteau Twins - Heaven of Las Vegas
Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
The last thing I expected on your list was that Mukimukimanmansu album, that's really a gem
if you like brazillian pop i would definetly recomend "Construção" by Chico Buarque de Hollanda! the album was written during the brazillian dictatorship soon after Buarque was back from his exile from the country, wich happened because of the content of some of his lyrics. i think it's my favourite brazillian record, beign a brazillian person myself, also Clube da Esquina is pretty good too, i see someone already recomended here in the comments. Cheers, nice video!
This my top Top 50 Albums of All Time video of all time.
sheeeeesh big ups for the Showbiz pick, Muscle Museum still goes hard
For real
You should definitely check out some of the 70s 80s argentinian rock like invisible or la máquina de hacer pajaros
I just discovered the band Tindersticks. A British band from the 90s with a very dark sound (maybe because the vocals are really deep). Anyway check out the self titled album from 1995, its gooooooooood.
Huge W for The Powers That B. My personal favourite album
Immediately sold when the video started w/ it's all downhill from here, finally someone who loves ol Jimmy
W list as always 😘
Mid-Air Thief needs to make another album frfr.. discovered seismic about a week ago and white room has been my favorite song throughout winter last year..
so fucking awesome seeing mukimukimanmansu here
also one of the singers (minhwi lee) relases her own music, her album Borrowed Tongue is really beautiful u should check it out
Have u dived into The Cure? They had an amazingly dark early Discog and a mid career renaissance with "Disintegration" and "Wish". Really consistent until the last few which are just okay
Totally agree with lots of these!! 🫀
ought making your list is off the henny, habit is one of my favorite songs ever
If youre gonna go shoegaze, Ride Seagull is excellent. Anyway. Thanks for doing this. Heard most but there were some Im excited about hearing, so thank u. Havent heard freak folk in a min, think i'll cue up some Tuung. Cheers.
I actually don't think I've heard anything from Ride yet. Thanks for the suggestion
@@KyleReidMu The whole Nowhere album is great. 1990 I think. They sit firmly in the shoegaze best, that album at least.
Don’t forget Going Blank Again either! Maybe a bit more poppy and warmly bright than their other work but it’s an insanely consistent collection of great tracks. The eight-minute opener might be their best track ever
@@ahnmensch3115 Yes! I was listening to Smile today, so theres another and Tarantula? I really only loved Nowhere and Going Blank. It is poppier but they were good at balance, cheers to u!
Marque Moon is indeed fantastic. 👌
Kyle what other sufjan projects do you like? I fell in love w him on Seven Swans 🦢
Honestly every single project he has is great
Wow Kyle, was really surprised that you picked Day69: Graduation Day by 6ix9ine to be in your top 50 albums but you do you I guess
100% agree with The Powers That B. Also my favorite Death Grips album.
i love ur vids ❤
my fave album is sound of silver
right now im listening to frank turner
u should check out the song "long live the queen" by frank turner (and the album its from) i think u will like it a lot !!!
I'm glad you're enjoying the content! Sound of Silver is a great album
I would pay exactly 5 dollars to see a Books discography review. I love them. They were the best man.
If you like 70s Brazilian pop music you should check out Milton Nascimento and his album Clube da Esquina. It's hard to explain what it's like, but it's kind of pop rock, with some prog qualities. It even has reoccurring motifs. At times it's super mellow, like you're living on a farm in autumn. Other times it's dramatic and emotionally powerful. Highly recommended.
Sounds sick! Thanks for the rec
YESSSSSSSSSSSSS
@@KyleReidMuBrazilian music from the 70s is one of the most culturally rich periods of our history. You'll probably have a lot of fun diving into it. I'm biased towards the stuff made in the northeast, since i was born there, but the entire country was boiling with creativity back then
@@KyleReidMuomg hope u do get a chance to hear this. milton is incredible and easily my favorite mpb artist. he has one of the most heavenly voices that go over some of the most beautiful and life affirming arrangements ever. i saw him perform last year and herbie hancock pulled up to jam with him on stage and afterwards he said to the crowd “no one makes music like this man!” and i couldnt agree more
if u like that album, i definitely recommend hearing his other albums like Minas or Travessia as well as exploring deeper into other MPB artists
@@xvw777 Damn I had no idea, sounds incredible!

You rock man !!
big fish theory is insane! glad to see it here, the production literally sounds like your underwater
For real
Dang and I thought I was the “cool guy” for loving Mukimukimanmansu bro you should’ve gatekept it 😂. Jokes aside I really the more stripped down freak folk like this and sung tongs where they can be mysterious and playful at the same time, along with the really cool percussion stuff going on. Any of albums like those two?
It's too good to be gatekept
@@KyleReidMu So true, also while Mukimukimanmansu hasn't made anymore albums a member of the band (Minhwi Lee) has made an album called "Borrowed Tongue". She also does movie soundtracks I think too
HE TALKED ABT DISMEMBERMENT PLAN 🎉
HE DID THE THING!
yesss mukimukimanmansu is such an exciting project.
Yes, Ought does not get talked about enough!! More Than Any Other Day makes me feel alive
Television is always a great choice
My top 10 (at least for now):
1. Gorillaz- Plastic beach
2. Kendrick Lamar- To pimp a butterfly
3. Genesis- Foxtrot
4. Devin Townsend project- Deconstruction
5. Frank Zappa- Hot rats
6. Kanye West- The life of Pablo
7. The Beatles- The white album
8. Between the buried and me- Parallax II
9. Mastodon- Crack the Skye
10. Opeth- Blackwater park
Lots of albums I haven't heard on this list. Very cool!
I thought I'd never see the light of day, when I asked for your top 100 albums
I'm honestly surprised I made this video
@@KyleReidMu it takes time to think it through, btw is this ranked?
@@Manays Absolutely not lol that would take way too much time
I’ve been really big into shoegaze for the past uhhh 4 years? Of my life and Cocteau twins pipelined me into the genre despite the fact I’d say it’s just very shoegaze adjacent I’d still call it straight dream pop, regardless in my top ten, if you do want some neat shoegaze stuff to see if you vibe with check out Yukari Telepath by Coaltar of the deepers, it’s my favorite album ever though tbh Coaltar have a ton of genre fusions you wouldn’t expect, all natural lemon and lime flavors’s self titled is another super important shoegaze album for me I think is very good
For the love of Fantano pls make a spotify playlist in the description so I dont have to make it myself
I don't use spotify :(
Kyle have you listened to kerplunk? It’s basically what Green Day was doing on there first album but with better song writing imo
I have! Idk why but for whatever reason I still just come back to 1,039 instead. Green Day used to be my favorite band back in the day though so love all their albums to some degree
@@KyleReidMuthat’s fair. They used to be one of my favorite bands so I can get what you mean when you like coming back to their first album. Now I only really come back to kerplunk and nimrod lol
@@Phanta5112__ Nimrod is another great one
Think my favourite shoe gaze album is probably Kinkoteikoku's debut album. If you wanna listen to another class shoegaze album you should listen to eureka or the debut by Kinokoteikoku.
THIS I LOVE EUREKA TO DEATH
@@ilyas.7z170 yeah its sick init
@@fermi7776 oh yeah for sure, this album and mass of the fermenting dregs' world is yours is what got me into the jp shoegaze/alt rock scene, still some of my favs to this day
I still need to listen to Eureka and I can't wait
Showbiz was the last album I'd ever expect to be here 💀
happy for jorge ben being here, as a brazilian, i think u should like Belchior, Tim Maia and Novos Baianosm s=oooooooooooooooo gogd
Have you listened to any Deerhunter? I think you would like it
I've listened to Halcyon Digest and I do in fact like it
I’m surprised [insert obscure/local artist here] wasn’t on the list
If you want to hear some great punk music, you should listen to the band Fugazi. They essentially created the genre of Post-Hardcore. The same genre that Slint's music is classified as. TL;DR Fugazi walked so Slint could run.
Heard so much about the band but I've never checked them out. I need to do that
@@KyleReidMufugazi is my all time fav band! Def should check em out, not a single bad album!
They are so good, I'm listening to all of their albums and it seems like you can pick up any album and you know that it will be good and unique, and different from the other ones.
Powers that B is a classic, but Year of the snitch is slightly better 😅 probably their weirdest album but it's a super interesting experience
10. The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
09. Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
08. Iron & Wine - Our Endless Numbered Days
07. Nick Drake - Pink Moon
06. John Mayer - Continuum

04. Radiohead - Kid A
03. Josh Ritter - The Historical Conquests of Josh Ritter
02. Radiohead - In Rainbows
01. Iron & Wine - The Shepherd's Dog
heaven or las vegas is one of the best albums of all time... OBJECTIVELY!!! if you haven't listened to blue bell knoll by cocteau twins, i'd recommend that one too
HoLA is the only Cocteau Twins album I've heard but I've been meaning to get more into their discography for a couple years now. I just can't stop myself from going back to HoLA though lmao

That would actually be so sick dude. Make sure you send it to me if you actually end up doing that
I'm subbed cuz The Way Out IDK{T}
first time saw a white guy know about mukimuki manmansu lol.
they have been used as a korean internet meme a lot of years ago people to make fun of . but i think this album really pushed forward the avant-gard back then.
if you are korean and knowing cultural backgrounds, their lyrics are into super-korean-realism. so people kinda loved it, even to *normal people* who are not really a music nerd.
and i was a music nerd at that time lol
fun fact : gong joong dodUk which means "public ettiquete" , changed his name to mid-air-thief("gong joog dodOOk" in korean) after releases his first album. because of a popular korean hiphop tv show single had same title. just a one syllable tweak to his name
Sounds really interesting, might have to check out his music
Hmmm this is really interesting. I honestly know nothing about the album other than it's a good album from South Korea lol so it's cool to read a little bit of lore about it
@@KyleReidMu i cannot say they were genuinely loved or something, but they got some attractions from the mass because of crazy performances and musical ideas to laugh about. but i never thought them performing because of making humor like other normal people thinks. i feel there were very violent and sad rages in the performances.
furthermore, i have to recommend you an album "borrowed Tounge" by Lee min hwi. she is the member of a mukimuki and this album got a lot of praises from korean critics. very different vibe but i guess youll love it. its one of my favorite.
maybe more than mukimuki
@@WiloPolis03 yeah. especially mid-air-thief. its like korean sufjan stevens age of adz

Gonna be honest... I forgot about Sleep Cycle but I'm relistening to it right now and I might just need to make some adjustments to my list
JORGE BEN MENTIONED, YEEEEEEEEEES. MY BRAZILIAN HEART THANKS YOU KYLE, let me give you some reccomendations bro.
If you wanna a artist that sound like that jazz funk Cortex album and with the atonality of This Heat(basically, John L by black midi but more jazz) I would recommend an artist called Arrigo Barnabé and the album is Clara Crocodilo(Clara Crocodile in english). The album sounds like an manic comic book world with all these characters addicted to sex, and the last two songs are the story of a villain crocodile that came from an scientist experiments and now he is going to destroy the world. Is pretty funny sounding, but the instruments are just brutal, groovy, dissonant and brazilian(obviously).
Also, since you like CSH so much, a 10/10 for me is Vocação - Lupe de Lupe, they are the brazilian car seat headrest basically. They did some amazing shoegaze albums(Sal Grosso is one of them, the song Tedio Bom has one of the most orgasmic endings in indie rock history) and Vocação is a way more complex album with more complex lyrics and instrumentals, the opening song, Fragua is just one of the best songs of all time.
Please Kyle, I beg you man, if you talk about one of those albums, it would make my day.
Thanks for the suggestion dude! I'll be sure to put these albums on my list of albums to check out in the future :)
I'm a metalhead, so my favs are most likely different than yours... but that's totally fine!
Lmao ya they'll definitely be different

Marquee moon is underrated
With the average music listener? Probably. But I think it's rated properly when it comes to like "music nerds" (for lack of a better term). Like it's one of the top rated albums of all time on rym. But honestly, that's still not enough, everyone needs to hear this thing for sure

@@KyleReidMuthank you.

I think I might be the only CSH fan who _doesn't_ fawn over HTLT. It's _okay,_ it doesn't suck or anything, but there are so many better albums (Nervous Young Man is the best). If I don't get excommunicated for the above take, I will for this one: The Ending Of Dramamine is _boring._ Out of all of WT's discography, it is the _only_ song I skip. I get what he is trying to do, but imo the build up does not result in a satisfying payoff. Opening the album with this 14 minute snoozer def colours my ranking of the album as a whole (which otherwise has some solid tracks).
The NYM take is pretty based but the Ending of Dramamine is kind of crazy. Although I do understand where you're coming from
No joke, I listened to Music Has The Right to Children for the first time while playing Minecraft and it was the closest experience I'll ever get to doing drugs. Like I'm 100% serious, it was hypnotizing. Incredible album, one of those things that makes me feel so many conflicting emotions at once
Dude that sounds incredible
Nimrod is Green Day’s best
I used to feel this way too back when I was super into the band
I want to be friends with you. Wow.
For every Post-punk or Post-hardcore Fan:
Fugazi - 13 Songs
Farside - Rigged
La Dispute - Wildlife
At the drive-in - Relationship of command
Mars Volta - De-loused in comatorium
Tool - Aenima
I've been a Rock-music listener most time of my life and these Albums I know
better than Nirvana, Radiohead, REM or any other famous Rock-band.
Why ? Because they don't show you everything at first listen, they are like a secret
garden, you can find new things everytime you come around !
This is just a rym chart lmao
True
8:21 It would be my pleasure. 🫡
