I wouldn't call it a trend. Music tends to do that and has tended to do that for centuries. I would also point out that the source music does exactly that. I do get the desire for a huge blast right off the starting line though. I could use one of those.
The real problem is the brass playing literally only 20 seconds in the first 3 minutes of the show. The brass is not 11% of a drum corps. Make it make sense.
@@jordankay4754 Yeah, for once I disagree with a JD Shaw book. I don't think that the percussion pieces add anything of value to the show. They could be removed and replaced with original material and it wouldn't make a difference. The brass material is good but I would have preferred more of Equilibrium and a real developed ballad. But I'm not JD Shaw so what do I know?
Are you joking? The drill in this show is already 10x better than last year. There's already far more drill than last season and today is the very first show of the season.

Same reason action movies don’t usually open with fighting or battle. The buildup makes the release better. That applies to like 99% of things

It’s literally doing what the source music does. A horn line is only 33.3% of the drum corps, why not feature the other 66.6%?
