The Indians singing "Wigwam Wiggle" One of there most popular tracks. Sung by Noel Brady - Aka Big Chief Flaming Star Recorded live at Pontins Brean Sands' in 1990 Enjoy, :-) x x x
Fri 29 sep 2023 i am listening to this great show band brings back memories of going to see this great band with friends good times miss those nights thanks for the memories ♥️♥️♥️♥️
First saw this band when working for pontins in presstatin in Wales then took the family there twice over the next two years what a band they knock any other country band in to a top hat brilllliant
Seen indians in93 they were brilliant but that was is dad seen them again in 97 when is he was losing is voice in pontins his son took over and he has done a good job since
I forgot about Wonderly wagon we were easily pleased back in them days 40 coats the crow and judge the dog and the rest of the crew good days they were. We had great freedom out in the river all day 😂
He is from Dublin as far as I am aware, he was only 17 when he joined the Indian Showband, it was actually his brother Sean that the talent scouts were interested in first, but the night they went to hear him sing at a talent contest, he was sick and Noel was stepping in for him and that's how he got the chance to front the Indians
Jaysus, you must must have a great life to have to go back in time to find something racist. Did you look up this vid to trigger yourself or did you come across it by happenstance?
@@johnoneill3654 You don't think ignorantly appropriating "Indian" garb (via Hollywood costuming cliches) and naming yourselves Crazy Horse, Sitting Bull and the like, while singing about "squaws" and "wigwams", making up and attributing cheesy dances to Native Americans, is racist? As for going back in time, these performances didn't happen a hundred and fifty years ago. This outfit can still be seen today, working onstage in their phony regalia, doing all their "Indian" material and hurling defiance at any and all- that would include Native American critics- who find their act insulting. Here's a suggestion. Let's start a crowd-funding appeal to send this band on a tour of reservations throughout the US and Canada. I'd be very interested, as I'm sure you would, to see how they're received there. Let's let the people travestied by the band decide for themselves. Are you with me?
This is an amazing band from the seventies that gave great music and pleasure to many over 50 years they are not racist you don’t have to listen to them nobody is making you do so too much political correctiveness in my opinion far too easy to play the racist card seen it many times without foundation especially in the medical profession I’ve always loved the Indian band still do Noel is an amazing singer the best front man from any band from Ireland or anywhere else love and best wishes from an Irish fan 💕
@@jocondie2069 How'd you like to see a band of Englishmen dressed as leprechauns and calling themselves James Connolly, Padraig Pearse and Michael (Mickey) Collins? They come out, introduce themselves and go into an insulting number called "Shanty-town Shuffle" complete with cheesy dance steps. That's pretty much the equivalent of what this band was doing. Sitting Bull (Tȟatȟáŋka Íyotake) and Crazy Horse (Tȟašúŋke Witkó) were real historical figures, leaders of a people who resisted ethnic cleansing and genocide at the hands of American soldiers and settlers- many of whom were Irish, by the way. Appropriating their revered names and legacies for a trashy music hall performance is bound to provoke a reaction.
@@vestibulatewe’re seen and heard worse no blacks Irish or dogs need apply is one there was so many bad jokes terrible pictures of us as leprechauns ugly ones at that 😂we just got on with it. This band meant no harm.
unfortunately Europeans dont typically understand the racism behind stereotyping and impersonating American Natives and it seems most of the old fuckers in the comments either heres an old article on them: newspaperrock.bluecorncomics.com/2010/06/most-racist-musical-group-ever.html
kerrysuzie Neither the band members nor their audience had the least awareness of how this grotesque appropriation would be seen beyond the island of Ireland. In fact, they actually regarded this sort of travesty as a form of identification with Native Americans. If you tried to explain the racism involved, you'd need time and patience in order to get through.

This band are not racist they started in 1971 when political correctiveness was hardly heard of (far too much of it now ) in my opinion they are a lovely group of guys that gave great pleasure with their music to many all over Ireland and England 50 years on the road how many of today’s bands will match that I wonder Eamon and all the band past and present are amazing loved them in the seventies still love them now don’t listen to them nobody makes you they have a large fan base and are loved by many from an Irish fan love to Nole 💕

@@marycuddy6920yes that’s what I know from hearing the band say it. It wouldn’t matter we’re In Ireland he came from but he is not from the north 👍
why does the lead singer have an irish accent?
Because he is Irish
lol
Because he is Irish 😂
4 people are getting scalped
Not only is this song (and the band itself) extremely offensive due to its racist portrayal of Indigenous people, it's also a really shitty dance.
