Paperback Writer/Rain is one of the best singles released by the Beatles. I keep coming back to this single again & again. Love both tracks.
Rain and Im Only Sleeping are two of my very favorite John Lennon songs. Admittedly among many.
I totally agree. Rain has always been my favorite it's a perfect display of Paul McCartney's amazing bass skills.
John Lennon said one night while smoking pot, he mistakenly played the tapes for the song “Rain” in reverse and liked the sound.
The backwards part of the song Rain is just the line "When the rain comes they run and hide their heads," played backwards.
However the opening line of the song is “If the rain comes”.
Australian band Missing links used backwards tapes on their album which came out in December 1965, in fact they have a whole song backwards.
