This shit is LEGENDARY i knew about Guru never saw or heard from him but instantly you can understand how someone like him is successful at what he does.
Didn't know him myself, heard his name & the oh boy ref makes sense now.. Great interview, It's a great example of how to use your own individual talents and create a career based around your passion & shows you have to be front & centre like the rapper & producer to have an impact on creating classic records .. Another classic show..
Through this whole conversation you can easily pick up the main theme thru Guru’s life, there was always a Brotha or Sista offering guidance or a hand in getting him to the next level and supporting him on his journey- priceless ✅💯✅💯✅💯✅
He was also open to receiving the guidance. Some people get guidance and push back or don't listen because their ego won't let them. He was humble enough to receive it.
Guru is very special human. His level of knowledge on so many things is mind blowing. The way he explained money as trust, battle rap fans, go-go culture, and so much more. Salute Math on another epic show!!!!
I heard of Young Guru but, never saw him. His knowledge and wisdom about money and the game is priceless and can't be brought. His stories about the game is second to none. I can listen to this brother speak all day and will be in tuned. Good stuff Math can't wait for part 2. This is one of my favorite interviews so far.
Sound like Gu is describing my Pops. His fav group was Parliament & The Beatles, super cool, never yell. Salute to all the Fathers in the world!! Most important job in the world.
Guru seems to be such a grounded, humble and genuine person. It makes perfect sense that he was consistently around greatness on his way up. His energy is the type EVERYONE wants around them.
So much DC History and culture in this interview. Chuck Brown, Junkyard, Backyard, Dave Bing, Go-Go, SE DC, Howard University, Chucklife, Ritz, Quigleys, Shrimpboat, Non-Chalant, Marc Barnes, Wale, IBEX, Blossoms,
Moved to DC from NY in 88...went to HU 90-96...DC is mad original, I remember my older cousins talking about Madness, Rare Essence, Rayfus(not Rayful lol) and the Black Hole salute to DC🔥🔥🔥
I ❤️❤️these grown black men conversations. Math you have given a platform and picture of the men who are producers, engineers who created the sounds we hear. It’s awesome to see these people who only get shout out at award shows or producer, engineer credits. They have some amazing stories and gifted individuals. Love it.💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Outstanding interview. It was great to see all the guys reminiscing over the Nonchalant track 5 o'clock in the morning. Everyone loved that song. Took me right back to 1997. Definitely stood the test of time.
For starters, I'VE BEEN ANXIOUSLY WAITING FOR THIS ENTIRE INTERVIEW! What I love is that I haven't heard many Young Guru interviews, but whenever I do, I ALWAYS record them because he brings the technical, life lessons, a great introspective on many topics, etc.! Guru is that dude and the name is so fitting. Thank you for this one Math!
I've never heard of this man! But just listening to him is like a breath of fresh air!! This interview was phenomenal! I watched this video at least 10 times! He spoke so clearly! and you understand everything he was saying! He only use 1 curse word and apologize for saying it You! You can see he appreciate everyone who came into his life! His story wasn't about jail, gun voilence, having beef with someone or being in a gang ! He is so spoke so professional and knowledgeable ! I can listen to him all day! Thank you Mr. Guru for this amazing interview!
Much respect to Math Hoffa. For all those people that hated on him for his mistakes then they started to blackballed Math. I’m happy for him right now cause he kept his head up and stood focused and disciplined. Look how My Expert Opinion show is going straight up.
Every installment of this podcast put it further and further and further ahead and out in front of the pod game. This is almost unbelievable. Salute to Math 🫡
Under normal circumstances, I wouldn’t watch a five hour interview, however, I been waiting patiently for this and now the second part. Salute to y’all!
Y'all blessed as hell to be able to have the og's usher y'all in! Down here in Tampa the og's robbed us we still scrappin! These stories are priceless, so inspiring 🙏🏽🤲🏽
I'm 38 years old and was born and raised in DC Uptown NW, and to hear Young Guru talk about the sound of DC which is Go-Go music just warms my heart man. I love my city. I remember hearing how my aunts and uncles going to The Black Hole going to see Backyard, Rare Essence and Junkyard. And he's right as well our sound has always been duplicated or taken but never has been infiltrated that's why it's still one of the most purest genres of music that's still around to this day that's made by us. 202 All Day Baby.
Most definitely slim it's time we been patient da city needs to move forward and start getting out of DC and go global. The industry just has to figure out how to market it to the masses. Once dat comes into play it's over💯💪🏾

I watched that GoGo LIVE VHS at least 5 times a day one summer just to see all the drummers and congo players in every band BIG respect to GURU Thanks Math and the MEO crew!
It's just like when you delete a file from your phone - you don't see it, but its in the hidden folder/trashcan still on the device. Which still takes up memory. And is still on your device even if you can't see it
Im a year younger than Guru, what he said about RE is facts. At 16 I had brothers ID he was 27, I used to get in Eastside to see RE I was mesmerized. Shout to that bouncer at the door, he knew i was bluffing!! Amazing show

“Better than TV”. I just told my homie the other day that this will be bigger than breakfast club. Content is like rare resources. 🔥🔥🔥
