Himmel decided that making statues everywhere they go and save, was the best solution he could come up with, to keep Frieren accompanied for hundreds and thousands of years into the future. His thoughtfulness for such a far a way time just for Frieren is gotta be one hell of a character trait. The fact that he couldnt lift the hero sword but became the greates of heros of all time is prove of his good character. Frieren didnt just cry for herself when Himmel died. She also cried for Himmel when she realized she had deprived him from her company relizing that only at the very end that Human lives were fleeting far quicker than she thought. That is why Frieren goes out of her way now to do everything for her friends. Himmel the hero is probably one of the best characters to ever be written with so little screentime he had. before you say there is no growth. yes. there is non we were told. But we saw the man he was. And man was he a legend. And is someone i look up to
I keep wanting to think that Himmel is dramatic for getting on one knee to put the ring on her finger but I honestly can't because each time I try to think of him doing anything else, it just doesn't fit. It doesn't work. He loved her and he needed to get on one knee to put that ring on her finger to show that. Himmel is dramatic, but in that instance it was 100% necessary. It feels like their whole journey was his love note to her and she's only now tracing back the lines.
Himmel. As refreshing as a sunny blue sky. Shine cheerfully on people like a gentle morning sun. It's as gentle as the setting sun, yet somehow lonely. And in the darkness of the night, she notices its brilliance.

What's truly tragic is that Frieren realized Himmel's eternal love for her far too late.
Himmel like his name, embodies the meaning of his name......he was like the blue sky that looked over everyone...helping and helping...
