HAHAHA. Brilliant. The sacred order of the Leguminati, undermining governments across the planet while they smuggle in their illegal plant-based contraband.
As a Christian, I'm often confronted by other Christians with "God made everything okay to eat", and to that I say that might be, but He also gave us what would be best " Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food."; in Genesis, sounds like a plant-based diet to me!
I thought I was the oldest vegan convert at the age of 61! Having said that, I haven’t eaten meat or dairy for a few years and finally gave up fish eight months ago. 😄
As a vegan my labs were so good my doctors were sooo supprised and asked me constantly what i did to achieve those blood levels im like"im vegan" and they'd ask about my supplements and exercise and all that and im like " i dont supplement aside from the daily vegan whole food multivitamin... Aside from that im just vegan" and theyd lose interest im just like "....."
Theveganflower Dope. Yeah, I went for a blood levels reading, and the doc said everything was good, and when I said I'm vegan she went back and said my B12 levels could be higher. 😂😂 What a joke.
Woo!! I need to get my blood levels tested. Pre-vegan I was low in iron and D3.. But I never stuck to taking those supplements. That was 5 years ago when I had my blood tested. Ive been a vegan for 6 months
@Dan Quayles ITS SPELT POTATOES! Please evidence these 'baseless beliefs' Veganism isn't a cult or a religion, I always have to explain this lmao. It's like saying BLM, or fighting for lgbt rights is a cult. A cult or religion tries to get you to believe something that isn't there, but all veganism tries to get people to see what they already believe in (animal cruelty is wrong) and align their actions with their morals. Encompassing all animals instead of arbitrary some. katch4n.github.io
Yeah. I guess he isn't all bad. In fact he seems pretty open and well intended for the most part, but it's pretty clear he is invested in this manly, "bro" identity, and I can't really find it in me to admire him. Perhaps paradoxically I can't really see him as a grown man. He's like this insecure overgrown 19 year old. Can't take it seriously.
It's really not Joe Rogan that makes the podcast, it's always his guests who are worth listening to. Not all of them, but like 20 to 25% of them. Some of them are real gems, but most have no idea what they're talking about.
@Ben Snider Ben, the level of ignorance you've expressed in your comments reflects directly on your lack of education about nutrition and health. I fully understand this, because 6 years ago I was like you. Thank goodness I listened attentively to the evidence-based science on the subject.
@Dan Quayles ITS SPELT POTATOES! I do believe being a vegetarian is unhealthy, because they still eat milk, butter, cheese, and eggs which are some of the worst foods out there. Your comments are based on years of food brainwashing you've received since birth.
I am not a Vegan, but I have changed 180° from what I used to be 3 years ago , I used to be on the other side of the diet and finally understood the amount of animal product we consume is not healthy in any religion :) I am 90% Vegan most of the week and I don't even crave meat, I used to eat a ton of meat a week. thank you for all your efforts , keep doing what you doing and more people will wake up.
Hello, I am a christian and a vegan and I am one of the very few out there! I do think that you can combine those two well. The main point here is combine! My Religion is something I believe in, something I can not be sure about because it is not about knowlege. Veganism on the other hand is all about the knowledge, about the suffering Animals, about Nutritions and the Environmental effects. All things I didn't know about before I got the informations! Before, I was a vegetarian (since I was 4) and BELIEVED that the Dairy industry would never harm the calves or their Mothers! Before I got informations, about modern Slaves, I BELIEVED it was a thing of the past! Before I got the informations, about fruit and clothes that wasn't proofed to be fair trade, I BELIEVED that most of it was still traded fairly - but that it just wasn't labeled as such! Before I BELIEVED in the Humans doing mostly alright in the industry, because I didn't had informations about all the bad things they were doing! You could say: Meat eaters are the believers! Believing isn't a bad thing, but in this case it is doing a lot of harm! [English is my self taught second language - please excuse my mistakes!]
Ritsu Frosch Christianity and Veganism is very compatible. In fact, there is evidence from scripture to suggest that both the garden of Eden and Paradise will both be Vegan because those are places without death or suffering of any kind.
TexanMetalhead Agreed. Christian vegan here. I tell other Christians that God never intended for us to abuse His creation or other people (the ones who suffer the most from the industrial ag industry)... It makes no sense to continue to support a lifestyle like that.. Let alone be a glutton... And when we live in an age of grocery stores, it makes more sense to buy whole plant foods
Beesweetbeeyou hi I am vegan as well and also Christian.. In all honesty I believe everything that is made here on earth should be received with thanksgiving read 1 Timothy 4. ... And to also not judge those who choose to eat meat vs those who eat only legumes. Read Romans 14:3 However I also agree that of course the factory industry is so horrid. All the suffering that occurs, I cannot deny it and I would not like to partake in it for as long as I am here. Lets not forget that is just not animals who suffer but those with a soul suffer as well and many of these souls are lost and yet to come to Christ.
20,000,000 vegans in the US vs 25,000 scientologists in the US. Also, there is a rapidly growing trend of veganism from people who are waking up to understand the impact of animal products on health, the environment, and especially the animals. Just like scientology?
Pop I a few vegan youtubers changing is your proof that veganism is going downhill? RUclipsrs in general change all the time. But the amount of vegans are increasing by a significant amount every year. So i wouldn't say the momentum is slipping.
I come from a decade + of competitive bodybuilding and you can easily say that the competitive fitness industry is rather cult-like, and I also used to believe that there was something special about red meat that I couldn’t get in other meats. I also took nutrition courses in university which taught me that only meta protein was complete and had higher bioavailability than plants..... which was actually debunked 20 years (!) prior to when I was in those courses. A year ago I went vegan and when I look back, I feel I was SO brainwashed. I was surrounded by such a meat-protein obsessed community (based mostly on bro-science). I get really triggered by the joe rogans because I used to be one of them.
First Joe Rogan is not a body builder, never been one. Second I doubt you ever lifted any weights just becuase of how you talk about it or you was in some really bad gym, or a friend's garage.
I'm a Seventh-day Adventist vegan. That guy is pretty mixed up with the way our church started. Scary how quickly people are willing to speak about something they haven't researched. Guess that's why he's not vegan yet!
When I was growing up vegetarianism was promoted by the church. As veganism becomes more popular and the health and moral benefits become more known, the church is shifting more towards veganism. Also, the church encourages a plant-based diet, but it's not a law. This is why some members are omnivores (No unclean meats), some are vegetarian and some are vegan.
I was raised SDA, growing up vegetarianism was somewhat popular within the church but even then there weren't tons of vegetarians. Lol, I knew many Adventists that were only veggie during potluck. Roz Is, I mean that question could be asked about any population. Why are some people vegan and some aren't?
Except respecting other with different views and who eat meat. Vegan community shows their disgust with people with different diets regualry. So no, you would be like all other religions with plenty of prejudice, even this guy said that he belies that diet is not a choice, means it should be forced, means people would die, spanish inquisition style. But keep living in your dream world where vegans are decent people.
It can't be us against them, ie making another wrong. Just thrive and allow them to see your thriving. Keep the science coming and welcome all transitioning at whatever speed they are discovering what can be.
Vegan Gains is an idiot most of the time so I dont trust his views at all. Humans have been eating animal fats for centuries with no problems. it was the turn of the century in the early 1900's when a lot of easily made, readily available processed carbs were introuced into the american diet(and many countries copied this) that we started to see a rise in heart disease and diabetes. Your body can break down saturated fat just fine. Your body literally needs cholesterol to function and make new cells. Your body is fine regulating this if you "eat too much". It has been studied that a diet high in animal fats AND high in processed carbs/sugar is the MAIN culprit of heart disease. Its a COMBO of both. Dietary fat and cholesterol BY ITSELF has no bearing on heart disease. Stop eating white bread, shitty pasta, and sugary drinks instead of meat.
Agressdaywalker what makes you think humans ate meat with no problems for centuries? That's an assumption which has been proven false. Eskimos and the Masai ate carnivorous diets and they had HIGH rates of heart disease. Eskimos always had a shorter life expectancy. Stop denying science.
Ken Jataimu you're wrong on the eskimo thing. www.cardiobrief.org/2016/07/29/changes-in-eskimo-diet-linked-to-increase-in-heart-disease/ How about you stop denying science and research for yourself. And the PURE study. 138000 people. 18 different countries. Over 7 years showed a diet higher in carbs lead to increase risk of mortality. www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(17)32252-3/fulltext Ever hear the keto diet? People have better managed/gotten rid of their diabetes, high blood pressure, and other heart problems eating mostly fat and protein. Stop using false claims to get people to not eat meat. Why not use the more truthful environmental effects factory farms and agriculture cause. Saturated fat isn't bad for you.
Damn, I hope Joe watches this. Every time people bring up these talking points when debating me on veganism I just want to throw your RUclips channel and all of your data and sources at them.
He'll probably conveniently ignore all the main points, and cut up the video to try and make Mike look like he hasn't said much. A bit like that video of Homer Simpson when he got falsely accused of sexual harassment.
Joe Rogan and the other dude are just too "american", don't get me wrong, but millions in the US have these massively fixed beliefs like, pro-guns, christianity, nationalism, totally unregulated capitalism, etc., that are culturally holding them back as a developed rich nation. You can see how their bodies speak for them, these "gym bros", look like the typical duche that hates cardio, leave their sweat all over the place and throw the wheight and scream, then go home and eat 8 scrambled eggs with bacon and a steak. I'm not sure I want to go by their advise, and much less for a history lesson, like they attempted here. Don't take them too seriously folks, just because they are big and noisy doesn't mean they are right.
I am not even American but you are such a nationalist that you hate other countries like you just blatanly showed your hatred towards USA and you are calling them nationalist? Not to mention looking down on them and considering them not as developed. But they are... they are the best country in the world, still. Also do atleast some research Joe Rogan is a gym bro ? the guy is a former Taekwondo champion turned MMA fighter turned MMA commentator, he does plenty of cardio lol, defiently more then you.
Thanks for being so blatantly prejudiced against Americans. Our country isn’t perfect but it’s pretty good. People die trying to get to America. It’s SO shitty that they risk their entire lives at the chance to be a citizen here and enjoy all of what our “douchey” culture offers.
Idk. It still really upsets me to know people would rather make excuses for hurting animals, instead of admitting their mistakes, humbling themselves and trying to do better 😪
Can you prove that hurting animals is a mistake? Literally nothing that includes emotion counts either. It is only by indiscriminately hurting animals that we have evolved the brain capacity to understand to empathy, sympathy, mistakes, corrections, logic, or even develop reasonable thinking skills to a point where this conversation is even possible right now. If hurting animals is a mistake, nature is. Literally every meat eating animal hurts other animals and in far more inhumane ways than farming them.
Omg you are so delusional. People simply have different views and make different choices. What is your excuse for buying plan based plastic packaged food?
@@valeria939 I made this comment 4 years ago lol. I was still a child and didn’t understand a lot of what I do now. I honestly don’t remember the contents of this video nor do I care enough to rewatch it, but I’ll say this: do whatever you want. I still don’t eat meat but I don’t judge anyone for doing so. You’re right, as most things are, it’s a personal choice. I hope you enjoy your day/night!
Lucas Nahuel Cerante I'll take that bet. I'd love for him to go vegan but he is way too selfish and just really really dumb. He sees absolutely nothing wrong with hunting for sport, which is a very specific breed of psychotic.
Funny how vegans are just as dismissive of people who value plant life as the rest of humanity is dismissive of people who value sentient life. Really gets your noggin joggin.
Joe Rogan makes me cringe, some people are so dumb. But your response, especially the end, really good and funny. One of the best videos I've watched in a while.
*I understand that veganism isn't a religion, but it it a huge part of many religions. For example, I actually came to veganism through practicing Hinduism. Hindus practice "Ahimsa" or non violence, and have been vegetarians for thousands of years. This concept of Ahisma was written in the vedas before the bible was written, so I do question the origins of the idea*
Saint Arcana I personally came upon the idea of not eating Animals from research, finding out the truth, and compassion not religion or being told what to do. However I do believe in the Golden Rule - "do unto others as you would have them do unto you” 💗
I think you would like Christspiracy. It's a documentary on different religions and their views on how to kill an animal in a spiritual manner. Free to watch at their website.
He's only interested of points that will support his already set view. So these are examples that he will ignore or try to disregard some way or another. He is to much in defence mode in order to handle the questions intellectually honestly.
Hi im Jogan... I look around me and see that vegans have morals and religious people have morals therefore veganism is a religion. I have no morals so im not religious or vegan. Also I am very concerned about the feelings of brainless plants... derp.
I could have sworn Mic called out Joe for using a strawman fallacy. Kinda what you're doing here... Those morals really can make people act like jerks though. I'm sure you've met dogmatic vegans who think non-vegans are less than them. lol the part about plants suffering is hilarious though. Eating meat requires that animal to eat hundreds of times its bodyweight in plants for you to have one meal. Now who's causing plant suffering?!
I didn't. I didn't meet a single vegan in my entire life. And I didn't see one of the "dogmatic vegans who think non-vegans are less than them" on the internet.
TwoSnakes OneSword A non vegan, non religious/spiritual person who has morals. Just not the morals that lead them to not eat animal products - less moral in that respect.
You crack me up! Thank you for your humour AND your intelligence! Those two (literal!) Meat Heads were unintentionally hilarious also! Bloody hell! How much ignorance can two no neck bros cram into one Short interview 😂😂🤣🤣
@@Jw-un8oh You do not speak for others. Only yourself. Only a child believes one can truly understand another being in all their aspects. You are no omnipotent entity, so you cannot.
Although veganism is not linked to religion, I do have to thank the Adventist Church for promoting healthy eating. As I child I was disgusted by meat and I wouldn't eat it. That put a lot of stress on my mother until she started attending an Adventist Church. She took vegetarian cooking lessons at church free of charge and she even bought a book about veganism. I was so relieved because she stopped pressuring me to eat meat and she learnt to cook delicious meals.
Eye Sees You lol the agnostic argument doesn't work as well here. There is an explicit in and out group in many vegan circles and veganism insinuates purity which gets many people acting moralistically and self-righteously. Veganism is a little less religious than Buddhism, I see many of the same qualities of purity and seeking a better life and not necessarily less spiritualism. Going through your day thinking what a good person you are, so much better than those filthy meat eaters, is a very moralistic position and there are a decent chunk of vegans that come off that way.
I really appreciate that you are giving a lot of great facts contradicting their opinions. Your videos are always so informative. I find myself writtings your references on paper and checking them out. :) Gaining tons of knowledge along the way. The only part I disagree with is when you were picking at Joe for having his own chickens. I feel that the best way for us as humans to allow change, is through transition. And his promotion of do-it-yourself meat products, is a step in the right direction. If we give too much push back, then people won't listen to what we have to say, and they will feel the need to be defensive.
Amy Louise i agree! It drives me mad. I have friends that flat out admit they dont care and thats easier to swallow than the other friends who say " i murder plants" "meat teeth" " thats what cows are for" etc
David M still got nothing to do with her comment or the video. Also your on a vegan channel watching a vegan video calling vegans preachy... yeah ok. Makes sense
I think a lot of people are over-complicating it. The sheer amount of ideas people sometimes place on the straightforward idea of just not consuming animal products, well it relates I think to people's worries about social stuff, not the basic idea itself. Maybe at times I haven't really seen this, but I'm seeing it more now.
Ok, I'm a Seventh Day Adventist and I'm vegan.! Not all Adventists are vegans, and not all vegans are Seventh day Adventists! Jo Rogan is a schrill!!! I like your videos as you tell it like it is. Some vegans go overboard with their activism but they have good intentions and are very caring people. God bless.
-Lol, the 70's indeed. How in the world can he still think that. That's just lame. -Oh gosh, he doesn't understand that the animals he eats actually eat way more plants then when he eats plants directly and then thinks he 'f***s' vegans with his argument... that's kinda sad tbh.
+brentprodz that would be great if it worked, but a lot of people I find just go through an ongoing "reset and repeat" cycle with their points. Something gets debunked, literally unambiguously at times, like someone says something doesn't happen and I post a link to a credible media report saying it does from a national newspaper. My post is ignored or they respond without acknowledging the link, and within a few days I check out the thread again and they're repeating in new posts it doesn't happen. Basically, debunkings have a half life of around 6-12 hours, then their point rises from the dead. It's truly endless at times, but all I can say is I keep at it when I have energy and interest, and sooner or later someone does actually listen, and it's worth it.
The only reason the plant argument 'f***s' vegans is because we're so tired of hearing that idiotic nonsense. I 1000% believe there is not a single self proclaimed 'carnivore' or 'omnivore' who actually gives a shit about plants' 'feelings'. Love Mike's comment about people's responses on someone kicking a puppy vs kicking a tree. THIS is why the "plants tho" argument is so supremely stupid. When we hear it we think 'f**k me! Not another moron!'
@12:00 he sais people give up on veganism because their health can't take it anymore. That's not true. If you observe a lot of video's and things people say about why they quit and you pay attention then you'll find out that veganism was great for their health but quite a lot of those people felt social 'pressure' for years and don't want that anymore. They for instance say: my vitamin B12 is low I feel weak (which is super easy to fix with a supplement) but at the end always talk about the social pressure and being different. That's the real reason you often discover, if you care to really listen to the arguments and watch the body language. I think that BECAUSE they are healthy, they quit. They forgot how they felt before they became vegan and were still sick. They don't 'need' veganism anymore. Therefore the social pressure feels heavier now in comparisson to before and they give in to the pressure.
I think everyone has periods when they feel down or weak, and you look for something to blame or change. If you are vegan it does come into your mind that maybe the 'you need meat' people could have a point. I happened to me, I ate fish for 2 years then realised it wasn't my veganism that was causing me to feel 'wrong' just my lifestyle. Lots of people go the other way too, they feel bad so eat less meat, which could actually be the problem if they are obese etc.
I agree, the "why I stopped being vegan" videos I've seen, and I've watched a few, have always included multiple distinct reasons. Now this could imply feeling a need to justify the choice strongly, or indicate a general lack of enthusiasm for it at the time. The flip side of all this however is the people who keep being vegan, some have been doing it for decades and the ones whose health has improved - like mine has. Now I think my health has improved for a number of reasons connected, but perhaps not dependent on veganism in this time (basically I cleaned up my diet, seemed as good a time as any when making changes and learning more about nutrition), but better health is better health, so I'm getting something right and feel motivated to stick with it.
Okto, I'm 40 and in great shape, no meat for 18 years (except the 2 years with fish). I know I made the right decision for the animals sake, which was my reason to stop meat, but I wasn't aware of the other benefits that would come with it. I was drinking everyday for 5 years from around 28-33, that's why I felt bad, but of course, I didn't want to accept that as I was having fun (I owned a bar), so I looked for other reasons, and I had a terrible doctor who said I needed meat. I did get pretty unhealthy but I feel my diet saved me in many ways from it being worse, just as I always had discipline around that when other aspects of my life were out of control. I've been full vegan for 3 years, I had a blood test today, just to see what's up. I get the result next week, I'll let you know if I'm as healthy as I feel. Or maybe I've gone full soy boy ;)
+The Neo-Epicurean Sounds good, I would be curious what you find? Well, I still like going to the bar, but little or no alcohol suits me, more than a couple of pints makes me fuzzy brained and very tired - even the next day. So, I have maybe one or two and drink soda water otherwise. Going to the bar is still fun :)
Notification squad here!! As an atheist vegan, I am "triggered" by Joe Rogan. Besides, being vegan means you think critically about your life. Whereas critical thought is the bane of all religions, so far as I have found.
Siyovaxsh En-sipad-zid-ana Preach brother! Haha I don't see veganism, or social justice for that matter, as actual religions. But both have highly moralistic and dogmatic tendencies. Being vegan doesn't automatically mean you are a critical thinker and are immune to confirmation bias and irrational beliefs. Only being a critical thinker means you critically think. Both of these perspectives have distinct in and out groups with rules of behavior that get you criticized if you don't follow them. This means some people will look down on others that don't go by their beliefs, god or no. Those qualities make some vegans seem awfully self-righteous, and this is coming from a vegetarian/vegan when possible.
When you look down on someone, you don't want them to get up. King vs peasants, rich vs poor, 1st world citizens vs immigrants. Vegans and atheists would equally love if more people did follow the righteous/rational path. For me, I just stumbled upon Christopher Hichens as a catholic boy and I thought "I can't disagree with anything he says, I guess I'm atheist now". Few months later I stumbed upon some info about effects of meat eating on health and I thought "I can't disregard that information, I suppose I'm vegan now".
"Veganism is a religion" is something people say when they have no arguments left. Even if it *resembled* religion, which it doesn't, it still isn't an argument against veganism.
I say this as an atheist: many atheists seem to think not believing in god makes them automatically logical and knowledgeable about everything, then they smugly announce their basic bitch thoughts as if it's a pearl of wisdom. They have little of value to contribute to a conversation so they usually do like Rogan did in this video, go ''herpp derppp it's dumb!!1!'' and liken everything he doesn't like to a religion.
Veganism doesn't resemble religion? Google "religion". One of the definitions: a pursuit or interest to which someone ascribes supreme importance. That can describe veganism and thus it is a religion. Conveniently, this is not mentioned by Mic. the Vegan. I wonder why? No arguments left? Dr. John McDougall has even said that potato chips and Coke are vegan, so vegan isn't necessarily a healthy diet. Eating a healthy diet is intelligent, and can be vegan. But eating a vegan diet isn't necessarily a healthy diet, and therefore isn't intelligent. So veganism is an unintelligent religion.
earthpet he did address this definition of religion. Mike said "you can study religiously, or exercise religiously, but it doesn't make them religions." Words can have multiple meanings!
janvierbam I think veganism was how we ate before the flood and how we'll eat in heaven... But I know what you mean, veganism is definitely not a religion.
@@AuthorThings Revelation 7:15-16 (Isiah 49 mirrored) [15]Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. [16]They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. I'm not sure the bible agrees with you that there will be consumption based on hunger in heaven. Revelation 22:2 - through the middle of the street of the city; also, on either side of the river, the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. Some have suggested the fruit of this tree will be eaten, in a reversal of Genesis 3. However that has obvious spiritual and knowledge based connotations, not hunger. It ain't just any old tree lol. Not specifically speaking of you, but I find people's perception of Heaven and Hell a little bit strange/ignorant. I've heard people state: "Heaven is a place that you get to do everything you like doing whenever you want." You see this in media based portrails of heaven. You can drink as much alcohol as you want, eat as much food as you want and have sex as much as you want. When this is the exact kind if person, the person who loves their life and fleshy desires more than God. The greatest portrail of hell is the Rich Man in the story of Lazarus. His soul burning in agony from his desire of status over God, still is in love with his status as a rich man and asks for Lazarus to serve him by dipping his finger in the water. Most people think he'll is a place where the Devil is (He's destroyed in Revelation 14 I believe) and demons poke you with pitchforks. Heaven is conversely a place to be in God's holy presence while worshipping him for eternity. Not worrying about the wants and needs of the flesh.
I dont underatand why people refuse or look down on veganisn. Wouldn't you want to be the best version of your self, speaking about health here. And there are so many vegans that prove that veganism is healthy. Not to mention, is there a lack of empathy in those people? don't they relize that they are takig lifes? Are they so blind or not capable of realizing it... Not trying to be rude, but if you are awre that you have the power to change things, and that in your hands lies the future of an animal..why would you choose to end it. Probablly due to the lack of good education and i guess people need a morals and values check.
+Ulalume i do agree with you. But doesn't the truth "force" or show them what is right? like, then can start all over and actually be healthy and do good. i do not understand the psychology behind it, why would someone choose to stay blind and in their comfort zone, over the fact that they are 'playing' with lifes, from animals and their owns. its odd how humans work
Barbara hello Barbra. I'm a meat eater and I would like to tell you why I'm not vegan. A few years ago I was in my front lawn just eating steak. My neighbor was a vegan. He looked out the window and saw me eating steak and he lost it. He came at me and started harassing me and started insulting me and my family. I politely asked to him to stop because he was overstepping his bounds. He got angrier and started calling me a murderer. A rapist. A piece of shit that deserved to get sick and die and knocked my plate out of my hands. That did it. I punched him square in the jaw. Really hard. Because he was harassing me, I was defending myself. That's why I dont want to be vegan. Because the way they overreact tells me that Veganism became a joke just to disrespect others. Thank you for listening to my story. My whole family are meat eaters. My great grandpa was in his 90s when he died. He only eat meat his entire life. He was a butcher. And he had no heart disease. No cancer, nothing. I love animals. I had a dog. I had her since I was only 8. She's been with me until I was 19. We had to give her up because the new house where we live in didn't allow dogs. I broke down when I got the news. I was crying until I couldn't cry anymore. My eyes were blood red, they were burning from crying so much. Just because I'm a meat eater doesn't mean I'm poorly educated. It doesn't make me fool who eats dead corpses. I eat meat because I can't plant diets. I can't force myself to eat that stuff. Why can't nobody look past our eating style and look at why we at meat. Why do we have to be constantly harassed when don't agree with Veganism diets? Always telling us"enjoy your cancer" enjoy your heart disease. " I'm gonna laugh when you die" Who even says that? I don't tell vegans"you don't eat meat? Your a hippy" I don't do that because I respect their decisions. Because they can run their life the way they see fit, just like I'll run my life how I want to run it. Thank you for reading.
Thank you so much for existing. Holy. Shit. This channel is such a support system for people who are hated or mocked for following their hearts(..and scientific facts). People that I love very much seem to think I am killing myself with my diet, and it is nice to listen to someone who is using research to combat that way of thinking. Makes me feel a lil less insane. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Gosh! I am so glad of how you're handling all this shit. It's frustrating how well known and respected people have these simplified harmful beliefs about these things. He is part of the intellectually dishonest group that is simply more interested in supporting his own diet, rather than really having looked into these things and add the mass levels of animal suffering into it. It's all pretty much just justifications and strawman, etc. Thank you man! For you energy, reasonability and important support!
Actually Pythagoras was known as an expert on the fate of our soul after death, specifically reincarnation in which human souls were reborn into other animals after death (transmigration). Therefore he believed the lives, psyches and souls of humans and animals to be the same and of equal value. Nothing to do with a 'religious cult,' he just happened to know many secrets of the universe, including spiritual ones. Note: He also realized that plants do not have psyches :)
Firstly, proselytizing is not even a characteristic of religion generally. This illustrates a Christian bias. I believe the connection between veganism and religion stems from a more universal desire to do good while we're here (and these desires are not mutually exclusive or dependent upon each other, rather just stemming from the same inclination).
And forget the fact that the FDA says the American egg board can't say eggs are healthy if they want to use govt funds to advertise. Or nutritious, part of a well balanced diet, good for you....etc
I was totally being sardonic but keto is certainly less scientifically based than whole-foods plant based veganism, i mean Joe has had an acupuncturist and a doctor with his medical license revoked on (the carnivore diet guy) to support keto. Yet he won't have Michael Gregor or Niel Barnard, actual MDs, on.
They still save more lives then any plant based diet can ever dream of and i rather trust experts who spent years studying the Keto diet over some salty vegans.
Wow a vegan saying the keto diet is not healthy what a shock, despite there are Inuits who have being doing the keto diet before it was a thing and yet they are not falling over dead despite eating more fat then most of the west. Diet is not all that important in the long run, if your parents died around 60 the odds of you died in your 60s are also very high, you may get a few extra years out but nothing to write home about.
I am so happy Mike did this video! Joe likes to bash on vegans while he and his guests present their points as facts when they are factually inaccurate. I wish Mike, Earthling Ed, or James Aspey would be invited on Joe's show.
My dad said he would go entirely plant based/vegan in a heartbeat if it helped reverse/cure his sarcoidosis. I've found testimonials but he wants more than this. Could you help?
I find it comical to see atheists who are annoyed by religious people say that "atheism is a religion" but also constantly say that "veganism is a religion".
Agree 100% Athiesm has qualities of being religious if you constantly pester people about being religious and look down on others, just like vegans can act that way. It's just human nature for people to be snobbish and if you aren't Christian, then you have to look down on others somehow...
Atheism is a REJECTION of all religion, so it can't be a religion and reject itself. Veganism on the other hand is a set of man-made ideological beliefs that people follow, so you are obviously just grasping at straws trying to deny Vegans are essentially all cult members.
Pestering people about stuff makes them fall under the definiton of religious? "It may be defined as a cultural system of designated behaviors and practices, world views, texts, sanctified places, prophesies, ethics, or organizations, that claims to relate humanity to *supernatural, transcendental, or spiritual elements*."
fuanshin Yes it is not literally a religion, I said religious qualities. Just dogma and beliefs that people will tend to simplify to calling it a religion as shorthand. Veganism definitely has most of the things in that definition before the supernatural part. And I think it is really hard to not see a spiritual or transcendental component in veganism. Tell me you don't feel irrationally pure and wholesome after a plate of veggies. It *is* healthier for you, but no doubt that wholesome feeling is disproportionate to the actual health benefit of one meal.
Joe Rogan is not dumb, I really enjoyed a lot of his podcasts, but most times, maybe even every time, he talks about diet and veganism, he makes silly comments and is bias. I do think he's getting support from the industry.
Completely off-topic but.. do you dye your hair Mic? I can't stop staring at your golden beard and jet black hair and wonder to myself which came first.

Yes! God also gave us a compassionate heart. 😍

Veganism isn't a cult or a religion, I always have to explain this lmao.

That sounds more fruitarian to me but alright! :)
Read Romans 14:3
However I also agree that of course the factory industry is so horrid. All the suffering that occurs, I cannot deny it and I would not like to partake in it for as long as I am here. Lets not forget that is just not animals who suffer but those with a soul suffer as well and many of these souls are lost and yet to come to Christ.

Yes just like Scientology

I come from a decade + of competitive bodybuilding and you can easily say that the competitive fitness industry is rather cult-like, and I also used to believe that there was something special about red meat that I couldn’t get in other meats. I also took nutrition courses in university which taught me that only meta protein was complete and had higher bioavailability than plants..... which was actually debunked 20 years (!) prior to when I was in those courses. I'm a Seventh-day Adventist vegan. That guy is pretty mixed up with the way our church started. Scary how quickly people are willing to speak about something they haven't researched. Guess that's why he's not vegan yet!
Brian Atwell hey! I’m just going through the comments trying to find fellow Adventist, hello!
One question. Why are some Seventh Day Adventists vegans and some aren't?
Ahmen bro
Lets say it is a religion..it would be the best religion man kind came up with..respecting all lives..i would be proud to say this is my religion.
same to be honest. no other religion has ever advocated so much for this cause
What A Weirdo not really, that’s just a generalization.

Ken Jataimu you're wrong on the eskimo thing.
www.cardiobrief.org/2016/07/29/changes-in-eskimo-diet-linked-to-increase-in-heart-disease/
How about you stop denying science and research for yourself.
And the PURE study. 138000 people. 18 different countries. Over 7 years showed a diet higher in carbs lead to increase risk of mortality.

Ever hear the keto diet? People have better managed/gotten rid of their diabetes, high blood pressure, and other heart problems eating mostly fat and protein. Stop using false claims to get people to not eat meat. Why not use the more truthful environmental effects factory farms and agriculture cause. Saturated fat isn't bad for you.

Joe Rogan and the other dude are just too "american", don't get me wrong, but millions in the US have these massively fixed beliefs like, pro-guns, christianity, nationalism, totally unregulated capitalism, etc., that are culturally holding them back as a developed rich nation.

Man can't wait for the next ice age so all you vegans can take a snow nap, have fun not killing animals when there's not more farm land.

Hindus practice "Ahimsa" or non violence, and have been vegetarians for thousands of years. This concept of Ahisma was written in the vedas before the bible was written, so I do question the origins of the idea*

I have an atheist friend who is vegan, she just says humans are robots and there is no afterlife as a materialist.

So true xD
Right its absolutely not a religion, its a cult
Eye Sees You lol the agnostic argument doesn't work as well here. There is an explicit in and out group in many vegan circles and veganism insinuates purity which gets many people acting moralistically and self-righteously. Veganism is a little less religious than Buddhism, I see many of the same qualities of purity and seeking a better life and not necessarily less spiritualism. Going through your day thinking what a good person you are, so much better than those filthy meat eaters, is a very moralistic position and there are a decent chunk of vegans that come off that way.

I think a lot of people are over-complicating it. The sheer amount of ideas people sometimes place on the straightforward idea of just not consuming animal products, well it relates I think to people's worries about social stuff, not the basic idea itself.
To his credit the absorption of plant protein is usually in the 75%-90s, but who cares. Most people are eating to much protein anyway.

Amazing as always! Thank you for everything!

Thank you for your intelligent, articulate and humorous videos.
I can see that happen, yes. I fell into that trap myself in other areas in my life.
Thanks for the reaction.
Uhhh I'm Christian and vegan. One is theology, one is philosophy.

As an atheist vegan, I am "triggered" by Joe Rogan.
Besides, being vegan means you think critically about your life. Whereas critical thought is the bane of all religions, so far as I have found.
Yes vegans are a higher life form.... Lmfao.
Few months later I stumbed upon some info about effects of meat eating on health and I thought "I can't disregard that information, I suppose I'm vegan now".
hello kind friend 😊👊🌱
Vegan Crocheter junglism is the only true religion.
Mike said "you can study religiously, or exercise religiously, but it doesn't make them religions."

@@AuthorThings Revelation 7:15-16 (Isiah 49 mirrored)
[15]Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.
Not worrying about the wants and needs of the flesh.
your videos always gives me strength. Thank you so much
I dont underatand why people refuse or look down on veganisn.

You’re the man mic, excellent video as always
Actually Pythagoras was known as an expert on the fate of our soul after death, specifically reincarnation in which human souls were reborn into other animals after death (transmigration). Therefore he believed the lives, psyches and souls of humans and animals to be the same and of equal value. Nothing to do with a 'religious cult,' he just happened to know many secrets of the universe, including spiritual ones. Note: He also realized that plants do not have psyches :)
Proud parent of a vegan gang member! I need the bumper sticker!
I always love your videos. Thank you for making them.
Logic always wins ... but do people want to listen? That’s the difficulty 😟🤬🧐🙄
Thanks for this video!!
THANK YOU! I was watching Joe's video yesterday was hoping that you would make a response.
And forget the fact that the FDA says the American egg board can't say eggs are healthy if they want to use govt funds to advertise. Or nutritious, part of a well balanced diet, good for you....etc
Thank you, Mic! You're fantastic! I'm going to go check out your backyard chicken video! :)
Keto is a religion.
Well! You told him. He's such a goober, with no knowledge. You are so funny. Love your channel.

WHY CAN’T I LOVE THIS VIDEO???? 😩😭💗
And you have not recently reviewed the definition of a "cult." SMH
fuanshin Yes it is not literally a religion, I said religious qualities.
