Same here, i've got both Stone God and Hot Leg albums, two fantastic albums, saw Stone Gods support Airbourne, aswell last year, awesome gig. I miss the Darkness. Anyway keep on rockin everyone and lets keep Rock alive!!!
I love the Darkness. The only albums outside of the 70s that I would advise buying. Get ya some Thin, Lizzy Deep Purple and Darkness and you are well on your way.
I love these guys. They rock. Permission to Land is one of the best rock albums ever (falling behind to Blackbird by Alter Bridge). However, these guys deserve massive props on sounding almost just like the album version. Great job guys.
i don't think they would have necessarily done better in the 1970's; they're a revamp of classic rock for the 21st century. I mean, they made it this far... It's a shame that they didn't take over and rise to the next level. The Darkness could have been giant!
the dakrness will always be one of my favourite bands. i bet that apart from being musicians they must be really nice people - i just love when people make fun of themselves. it says a lot of good about their character. life's not that serious, after all, is it? anyway, i think it's really sad for anyone to say that love's only a feeling. i hope that's not what they truly believe. or if they do, i hope they'll admit one day they were wrong. take care :D
hey guys, the darkness are maybe reforming, justin and dan are currently doing demos at justin's studio and their gonna see if they can get label attention =) if they do they may do it again
I totally agree! I use a Gibson Classic with 500 496 ceramic humbuckers ran through a Marshall AVT150 1/2 stack and split through an ABY to another Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier half stack. There's no other way to create that true rock sound if you ask me!
I think it's a "Justin Hawkins Signature". It was on the Gibson custom website a while ago. It's a very unique silverburst with tree of life inlay and vibrato, not just a normal silverburst. :) but you're right it's very nice
Wow JH dressed as Beetlejuice! Aww I miss these dudes. And I agree with whoever said JH would have been a better replacement for Freddie Mercury. His voice is perfect and he's a real showman.
It's an indie band. Much less pressure. Which is also why he's not "like yay we r gods." They're just screwing around and I doubt they take themselves that seriously.
i get really bummed wen brilliant bands break up before theyre time...some should be going long into the futr...but drugs usually decinegrate these great bands
yeah theyre still gd but it just doesnt fell like the old guns n roses. without slash , duff and izzy its not the same. but the songs are still great.i seen them live in 2006 and it was amazing simply because axl was there
Justin sometimes REALLY reminds me of Freddie Mercury's voice. On the recordings, the higher parts especially reminded me of freddie. Live, eh, not to much. But on the recordings, yea there's def some influence from Queen ..big time.
im not sure if they would get back together coz every1 seems to be getting along ok apart from slash and axl (and i dont think duff likes axl) all the others hav got back together really even steven adler. im hoping it would happen but i would kill to see them all back together
i mean that the darkness are kinda glam rock. i know GN'R were glam to start but i think they did that just coz it was like fashion or sumthing. i do like the darkness but
yea but now hes in Hotleg, which is like yay we r gods, and y wouldnt he just rejoin The Darkness? they formed Stone Gods cuz he was not coming back, plenty of artists have gone to rehab without lving bands, ie. Anthony Keidis
meh, i dont kno any of this for sure, im just making a guess-stimate, still dont see y he couldnt have just got back with The Darkness but oh well, and lol, if i had a voice like Justin i'd prlly be pretty full of myself too
meh, the whole ultra ego Hotleg seems to have turns me off it, and yea, Stone Gods just cant compare to the amazingness of Permission To Land, one of my favourite albums of all time
Wen I have kids, music by then will b all computer created (even the person), nothing will b real, If they buy the latest Lisa Autotunebot CD, I WILL destroy, hopefully then they'll hav gd taste, i.e. from 50's Rock n roll to the The Darkness (I'll accept BVB, Within Temptation n Amaranthe)
They can all they want lol, John Bonham was really good, but he's not the best by far, and Keith Moon, again, while extraordinary, not the best by a long shot
Don't listen to people who don't make their own music. Darkness rules!
In the 70's, they would have become the greatest band. But to me, they were the greatest band anyway
it's so amazing that they are back, especially because frankie is back too... just like the old times!
His voice is so uniqueeeee, awesome band!
I used listen to this song while driving down the desert in Iraq.
Such an under rated band
this performance is awesome! And just picked up Hot Cakes today. ive been listening to it all week on Rolling Stone, its so good!!

oh god i fuckin LOVE this band...... one of the best gigs i've ever seen. miss them so much...
u are right actually. no1 will ever b as gd as gn'r were back then and still are now
me encanta esta cancion... i love it!!
I love these guys. They rock. Permission to Land is one of the best rock albums ever (falling behind to Blackbird by Alter Bridge). However, these guys deserve massive props on sounding almost just like the album version. Great job guys.
its such a shame, they were seen as a blast from the past. this band could have started off the 70's all over again.
I want The Darkness back! They were so fucking cool!
I LOVE THIS SONG
i don't think they would have necessarily done better in the 1970's; they're a revamp of classic rock for the 21st century. I mean, they made it this far...

beautiful guitar

take care :D
THE DARKNESS IS PERFECT!!!!
hey guys, the darkness are maybe reforming, justin and dan are currently doing demos at justin's studio and their gonna see if they can get label attention =) if they do they may do it again

Great! Thanks a lot!
trojan guitar from hot leg is awesome!
Esta muy padre el video saludoss!!!
awesome
wow i reckon that sounds better than the plugged in version.. man justin has such a brilliant voice
Wow JH dressed as Beetlejuice! Aww I miss these dudes. And I agree with whoever said JH would have been a better replacement for Freddie Mercury. His voice is perfect and he's a real showman.
the vocalist's les paul looks damn awesome!
this is real fucking rock and roll, YEAH BABY!!!
Why not? They are both great guitarists.
they learned from the best...
gary moore R.I.P
because dan (guitarist) has a capo on like the 7th fret and the outro solo uses notes lower than where the capo is
muito bom
buenos tiempo todo se acaba menos en nuestra mente todo quedara
i want reunion tour!!!
Matter of opinion, you're right. So respect mine. I'm not forced to agree with you and so as you. And many people use Fender basses, just compare.
Looks like he is playing a Les Paul Silverburst. Very nice.
@weenusmusic I couldnt agree more.
yum
It's an indie band. Much less pressure. Which is also why he's not "like yay we r gods." They're just screwing around and I doubt they take themselves that seriously.
heh, they should do a reunion tour!
yeah buddy rich and joe morello
these guys are so fuckin bad azzz
Wow Frankie is using a fender lol sounds very nice
Join the darkness group on facebook!
justin is using a gibson goldtop which by the which signature of slash...
@jariari live is live ;)
i get really bummed wen brilliant bands break up before theyre time...some should be going long into the futr...but drugs usually decinegrate these great bands
how does the guitarist get a totally clean acoustic sound from his guitar? 2 amp system?
aww dude thats so fuckin cool...
Its a shame they broke up. A damn shame.
but it's not the one in this video...or he modified it with a piezo bridge. at least you can clearly hear him playing something with a piezo bridge...
yeah theyre still gd but it just doesnt fell like the old guns n roses. without slash , duff and izzy its not the same. but the songs are still great.i seen them live in 2006 and it was amazing simply because axl was there
click the thombs up if you like the silverburst les paul
is it a silver burst??
i know what u meant but theyre just not guns n roses lol. theyre like glam rock
Justin sometimes REALLY reminds me of Freddie Mercury's voice. On the recordings, the higher parts especially reminded me of freddie. Live, eh, not to much. But on the recordings, yea there's def some influence from Queen ..big time.
all three are apart from Justin (the singer)
Justin Hawkins FTW.
@zylla1307 yeeee sameeeeee laaaaa kiteeeee.....tdngr kt hitz.fm..........
i'm so sad they splitted up
02:23 - 02:57
i thought they reformed under a new name without justin
im not sure if they would get back together coz every1 seems to be getting along ok apart from slash and axl (and i dont think duff likes axl)
all the others hav got back together really even steven adler.
im hoping it would happen but
i would kill to see them all back together
i mean that the darkness are kinda glam rock.
i know GN'R were glam to start but i think they did that just coz it was like fashion or sumthing. i do like the darkness but
Why they sent Justin off the band?
he's like 50% of the band... ¬¬
have they split up????
yea but now hes in Hotleg, which is like yay we r gods, and y wouldnt he just rejoin The Darkness? they formed Stone Gods cuz he was not coming back, plenty of artists have gone to rehab without lving bands, ie. Anthony Keidis
how does he get his voice that high....ouch
meh, i dont kno any of this for sure, im just making a guess-stimate, still dont see y he couldnt have just got back with The Darkness but oh well, and lol, if i had a voice like Justin i'd prlly be pretty full of myself too
fuck, my ears! almost killed me, I'm using phones.
or maybe he is using a piezo pick up ( it's an "acoustic simulator" )
ta cheere , pero creo ke falta la mandolina
I'm able but I'm nut J.Hawkins that's the difference :)
They are good musicians and permission to land was a good album. Kinda went the wrong way after that imo. Shame, as they know how to write songs well.
he'll have something in his rack or one of his pedals
meh, the whole ultra ego Hotleg seems to have turns me off it, and yea, Stone Gods just cant compare to the amazingness of Permission To Land, one of my favourite albums of all time
I said coke was the reason he left, not the reason he didn't rejoin.
@beautifulgarnier because thin lizzy fuckin rule..
no lol, Justin seems to have an ego problem now, the whole im a god of rock thing has gone to his head i think
the singer did a better job at the soloing than the guitarist....
that fill is the same but is absolutely out of time
Nice fuck up by the drummer at 1:30 ;p He wasnt the best was he... ?
Honestly he’s all over the place here
please never say the darkness remind u of the mighty GN'R again lolol
They can all they want lol, John Bonham was really good, but he's not the best by far, and Keith Moon, again, while extraordinary, not the best by a long shot
If Justin had stayed off of coke, they'd still be going.
He can't even double kick well lmao
bissl arm dass eine damals eig. gute band wie the darkness in so ner miesen show auftritt.
Justin left the Darkness so he could get off of coke. I doubt he would've left otherwise.
Man, Hawkins is wasting such a good voice right now, then need to make some more shit and come back
And you should probably listen to more metal buddy...Even though slipknots nowhere near metal but whatever lol
i dont get why does the singer has to play a solo.. cant he just shut up?
lmao Grunting about nothing eh?
I never knew iron maiden, metallica, iced earth, or skid row were all grunting...
