Girl you are so amusing you need more subs I’d watch you all say .. My hubby and I have had so many ferrets in our lives. We just adopted three sisters yesterday and I love the tube idea .. definitely gonna get that going on our cage thanks you
This is super helpful. I’m fighting the urge to just buy all the things for ferret ownership before I get the house cleared up and ready for it to fit in... I’ve been planning to get a couple of ferrets for over a year now but I want to take my time and really prepare for it.
I love your video... as an experienced ferret owner, I agreed with all your advice, you definitely know your stuff! Grats on your sponsor... I kinda chuckled at the end of the sponsor spot when you mentioned everything from your sponsor is 100% Fleece... which I know is pretty much the standard with ferret things... except MY FERRET... one of my ferrets has an obsession with chewing on... yep... you guessed it... FLEECE! So everything in my cage has to be of the non-fleece variety. Instead of fleece bedding and blankets, everything in my cage has to be made from cotton/cloth (he won't eat cloth, just fleece... go figure).
My old room mate's kit was the same way! He once ate a huge hole in a fleece blanket and we had to run him to the vet 😓 thankfully he passed everything! That's exactly why I stress making sure you know your ferret in the "what not to put in your ferret cage" section. It's unfortunate that some ferrets are like that
Just found this channel. Love Ferrets. Me and now ex wife had 23, she still does I believe. Will watching for more vids. These little guys helped me through some tough times and will be getting 4 or more of them again.
I just recently started watching your videos and you make me laugh. Love these videos. Thanks for all you hard work and effort to make these videos to help us with our little bungies.
oh my gosh tysm for this video- I've been looking all over for a video with good advice on ferrets- and I've finally found one- I might be a year late but- this.is.amazing!! im getting two ferrets, as I go to school during the day so they can entertain each other and this video really helps
Thank you for these tips ive been wanting someone to hang out with during quarantine because I'm a social person and I have a lot of free time so I know I will be able to give them enough attention I'm planing on getting two ferrets so if I'm gone for a while they can be with each other and not get bored
Another thing for the cage cover that you can do is take an old bottom sheet of a twin sized bed and put it over the top of the cage. That way, you can have half the cage covered and half not
I have a Ferret Nation Cage model 181 and recently added a level to it... A Critter Nation Add - On Unit level model 163... They fit perfectly together, and My Ferret Fluffs love it.... And worth everything I've paid for it, which is $180.00 with tax / free shipping on Ebay.... P.S : Ferret names are: Rhaenys nicknamed Luna, & Drago nicknamed: Kuro...
Can i leave them out of the Cage when their home alone? And what about vacation? And how much is the Total of buying an ferret (inclusive the cage and toys and blankets and that kinda stuff)?
1st time ferret owner, just got the little guy just under a month ago, and I have a question... you said to remove anything in their cage that they start chewing, and as a Ferret Father I want to do the right thing but what if the ferret is chewing a food bowl? hey thanks for this video i do have a kaytee cage and i am in the pazu discord and i know how bad it is but i dont think its worth getting the double ferrets nation because they are fully free roamed and sleep in it only some nights and are very happy thank you
Lets talk tunnels, I have a tunnel I got for my ferrets. Both recently adopted, one is 9 weeks and took to the tunnel in a matter of minutes. the other ferret has yet to tolerate it, so, is there a way I can teach them that tunnels are safe, and fun?
Hi! I’m a new raw feeder and I love your channel! You mentioned that you don’t leave their food out at night and I’m trying to figure out how I should keep my ferrets food. Mine are eating bone right now and I’m starting a meal plan soon(using Pazuandfriends mentoring). I was wondering if you keep their food bowl out all day or only at certain times?
I leave their food bowl out all day. I put down food at 9am and then at 5pm (8 hours later) I put out their dinner. I clean up their dinner at 10pm when I start getting ready for bed. I think a lot of first time raw feeders get worried about their ferrets going hungry at night, but what's important to remember is that ferrets take longer to digest raw than kibble. Kibble has a bunch of fillers that ferrets cant digest, so the food flies right through their system which is why they need to eat more of it and you need to keep it out. Because they can properly digest all of the food in their raw meals, it takes longer to go through their system so they can go longer between meals. I'm glad you made the decision to switch to raw!
Friendly Neighborhood Ferrets Thank you so much for the response! I think I’m going to follow that, but they only have one bowl since they are still transitioning. I’m so glad I did too, they seem so much happier now, and fluffier!!! Thanks for all your videos and your response! :D
hello i was wondering should i not get a ferret if i have work and school? my mom has no job and stays home all day, but even after i move out what if no one is home?
It depends on how long you're out of the house for, to be honest. I got my ferrets when I was in university and working part time, but I was still able to give them 12-14 hours of free roam time because my room mate would watch them. So long as you can give them a proper amount of free roam, you'll be home to feed them, and you have time to clean their litter boxes and play with them every day it should be okay. Ferrets are a big time commitment though, so I would recommend waiting until you're out of school.
Got a question About the blanket on the cage they won't suffocate right? I mean i have a blanket on my window cause i like my room dark when i sleep too so i might not have to do that anyways .....so another question......do ferrets need light when they are awake or is it ok to leave the blanket on the window during the day and night
Use a thin blanket like the one I use in my video and you'll be fine. You should uncover your window during the day so that they can have natural light, but make sure that they still have a few beds in dark corners that they can sleep in if they want to be in the dark.
Hello! I know I am watching this video from along time ago lol, but I wanted to ask a question. My friend recently got a ferret and she (in my opinion) is doing a wonderful job, but I had one concern. The cage she is using is quite small, but her ferret has access to her entire (ferret proofed) house at all times and only goes in the cage when she is away for no more than a couple hours. Is it still okay to keep her ferret in here only for a few hours?
I have a question: I go to school for 6 hours a day and so does my mum [she’s a teacher] would I still be able to let them out for 6 hours after I get home from school
What happens if I work full time 8 hours and the ferrets have to be in the cage all 8 hours? Also should I put some pp pads in? I’ll have a liter box inside the cage
i have to keep my cat in his cage cuz i still live with my parents, and my mom is allergic and idk why she got him anyway, to keep rats and mice away? atleats he likes his cage tho its a pretty big cage to.
Question, what can I do to get mine to potty train? I got her as a baby I believe to be 12 weeks now. I would love to get her trained. Currently looking at doing different setup. Thanks in advance
Check out my video on clicker training! Potty training is all about positive reinforcement. If she's having issues in the cage I recommend just filling the cage with more things to block her off. Put beds, blankets, and water dishes in any of the corners that you don't want her pooping in to encourage her to use the litter box.
Would it be okay to keep my ferrets in a shed outdoors? (I don’t have them yet) I’m planning on getting 3-4 male ferrets. I wanted to keep them in a shed with the cage inside it and have the cage open 24/7 so they are free roam all day and all night...would that work? Xx
It really depends on where you live! In places like the UK, keeping ferrets outdoors is quite common, however in North America it isn't. Ferrets from the UK are bred to be able to handle living outdoors, whereas the North American ferrets we get (normally from mills) are not. I would recommend getting in touch with a local ferret owner community and see what the experienced owners in your area have to say. The most important things to keep in mind are temperature, wildlife, and ticks/fleas. Where I live it would be unsafe because of our extreme temperatures and dangerous wildlife, but that might not be the case for you where you live. EDIT: sorry for replying to this comment so late
@@boredsis6061 Sheds are a perfect housing solution if you live in a suitable climate! One of the most common diseases in our pet ferrets is adrenal disease - this is linked not only to desexing, but to prolonged and incorrect photoperiods. In a shed your ferrets will not be subject to prolonged periods of artificial lighting, instead they will only be subject to natural lighting from the sun, and this is the number one way to prevent adrenal disease (besides desexing). Many people in the UK & in Europe keep their ferrets in outdoor enclosures with great success! However, as Kenya said, this is only because our ferrets are bred to be able to live comfortably in our climate (and because polecats are native to our countries, ferrets are naturally suited to our climate(s).) x
I love your videos I might get ferrets also can you make a video about bringing your ferrets home for beginners or is there noting that you really have to do
In the UK, your ferret cage if advertised as a "Blenheim" cage, it's what I have as well 😁 But I'm not getting my ferret for another 6 weeks, gave the breeder a deposit a few days ago and I can't wait to meet my danger noodle 😁😁 She's going to be fed a raw 80-10-10 diet and she'll have mice, chicks and eggs as treats haha
Play super hard with your ferret before bedtime! If it's a baby they have CRAZY amounts of energy and they need to play really hard, so I'd start dedicating about half an hour before cage time to hardcore play. If you have a lone ferret, you might also want to consider getting them a buddy
@@FriendlyNeighborhoodFerrets Thank you so much! I really want to get another ferret but i’m worried about how much they poop! Thank you though!! I’ll make sure to tire him out before cage time.
@@melindajean5452 Yes for about an hour or two, then I let him have free roam. He also likes to nap a lot during the day, so he doesn’t want to sleep when he’s supposed to.
Is there a chance a ferret can live with a dog and rabbit? I am fostering a 5 year old ferret and I’m a bit nervous. They are getting to know one another through a fence..
Ferrets shouldn’t live with other animals like rabbits… as in the wild they would of been prey. Dogs are okay to be around ferrets though. I mean I think it’s okay if they really do get along but if your rabbit and ferret don’t really interact it’s best to not let them be near each other.
@@backisayback5147 ok. I have since introduced them and it works out with supervision of course. The bunny does get a bit stressed from the chasing but oddly she seems to ‘ask’ to go in his area especially at playtime 🤷♀️.. Jack is 5 so he has to rest several times when he’s running. I mostly take him to the park for digging and recreation though :)
I have been doing research for a few weeks now and I’m thinking of getting 1 ferret during march break. Is like a the ferret nation cage but the single level one big enough? If i do get a ferret and think I should get another ferret I will obviously get the second level but is one level good for just one ferret?
The cage size you get depends entirely on how much time they're going to spend outside of it, their ages, and their individual energy levels so unfortunately I can't give you a yes or no answer :(
It’s so hard, bc I want to put in flees and I want to put in blankets and cat beds but I can’t get him to go the bathroom in his litter box. He goes wherever there isn’t litter, so it’s super hard since I don’t want him to poop on his blankets. At the moment, his set up is paper on the floors, litter box in the bottom corner, and his hammock. Obviously I will be upgrading, but since my room is being worked on, I don’t want to set it all up. My room is almost done we just have to put in carpet and paint the walls then he’s in there. But still, can I get any tips on how to potty train him?
Also, he was not planned to get. I just want to put that out there. My cousin Did not take care of him and his health was dropping. She wanted to get rid of him, so he came to me. I have not had him for very long, so I’m still learning about everything. But, I do not have enough money to buy him everything right now. My parents won’t let me get my OWN money out of MY bank account for him. I find that stupid, but I’m trying my best.
I'm glad to hear that you were willing to step up and help the little guy, but please make sure that you're still going to be able to provide him with what he needs - despite your financial situation. If you aren't able to pay for what he needs, consider taking him to a shelter so he gets the care he deserves (I'd be happy to help you find one in your area if you want to DM me on instagram). That isn't meant to say that you're a bad ferret owner, I'm sure that given the right financial support you'd be amazing, but ferrets are pretty expensive pets - especially on who's health is already taking a bad turn. In regards to your litter issue - I would recommend trying puppy pads instead! It's possible that he was never trained to use the litter box, so he just doesn't understand that it's for pooping. Ferret's don't have the same natural desire to poop in litter boxes as cats do, so they do require training unlike most cats. If you're wanting to litter train him, I recommend watching my video on clicker training. It's a really good way to litter train ferrets and helped a lot with Luna
@@FriendlyNeighborhoodFerrets thank you so much, I did put pads in his cage. But he seems to just want to tear them up, and shred them. Of course, that’s what he decides his favorite thing to chew up is. No matter what I do he always find a way to make a mess😆 I will try my best to train him, after being neglected for so long he’s gotten lots of bad habits. We are moving him into my room next week! And I’ve gotten a hold of some fleece and blankets, oblong with some new hammocks and beds from my step mom. I watched some of your other videos on rating cages, I fell in love with one I saw. I changed a few things, but I have come up with a solution, and lay out. On the top floors he will have beds, fleece, and hammocks, along with his food and water dishes. Then on the bottom floor he will have pee pads along the bottom, and a litter box. You’ve really helped with everything, and taught me a lot I didn’t know. I would hate to have to get rid of him, so I’m going to do my best to treat him like the king he is!
My cousin has a ferret and her ferret started losing hair Bc of that one disease that you said (sorry I can’t remember). BUT it was only because SHE PUT IT IN HER SUNROOM
somebody help me ! im planing to get one ferret but i dont know should i get girl or boy and do i need a really big cage for a ferret ? please answer :)
You should always get more than one ferret (look at my video 'top 10 ferret toys' for more information). They're highly social creatures and will get extremely lonely if they don't have another ferret buddy. Lonely ferrets can become depressed which can lead to health complications. If you get two then you can get one girl and one boy ^-^
I have a friend that just got a ferret given to her and she said that the previous owner use to blow marijuana and crack into her face and she was kept in a dog kennel. She isn’t right and kind leans to one side it’s the saddest thing. I’ve given my friend a ton of advice and hoping she takes it
Hello. I'm thinking about getting a ferret and just found a 138cm ferret cage. It's not that much money but is also quite big. I was just wondering if this would be okay for a ferret. Thank you!
I don't have enough information about the cage to tell you if that's a good one or not. How tall and wide is it? Also cage size depends on how much time outside of the cage the ferret is getting. If you're only giving 6 hours of free roam time they need something that's the same size as a Double Ferret Nation, but if they free roam 24/7 you can give them a smaller cage. And remember: you always need to get more than one ferret, they will become depressed if they live alone.
@@FriendlyNeighborhoodFerrets of course. I'm adopting 2 from a local shelter and they are brothers, I would be giving them 8 hours to roam outside around my house, well in places that are secured. The cage is 54.5'' tall and 28''. thanks for the help. X
If I was to get one how would I let it run around with 5 cats lol uhm I would have to put my cats in diffrent rooms right cause my cats would try to eat it or hurt it idk what they would do
I've never lived in a multi specie household with ferrets and other pets so I don't have any experience with those sorts of situations. You definitely need to let your ferrets out of the cage every single day so that's not going to be possible because of your cats, ferrets may not be a good idea for you right now. I wish I had some personal experience that I could use to give you advice but unfortunately I don't :(
P..S . Ferret Nation is better cause of the double side door opening, and for easy cleaning... And Note on image my dear: Friendly Neighborhood Ferrets lady... The Cage on the Left of your Ferret Nation Cage is the Hendrix Critter Rolling Cage, and Not Critter Nation Cage...
if i get a small cage but leave them in my room when they are "caged" and let them free roam when im home is that ok or should i buy a bigger cage. i have a cat cage from my cats and would rather not spend an arm and a leg but if its better to buy a bigger cage i will
If they're allowed outside of the cage 24/7 then that should be fine ^-^ Lots of people who free roam their ferrets still have a cage as a sort of home base, without intentions to lock them in it.
OMG thank you for replying you are literally my favorite RUclipsr in the world you really help me with my ferrets thank you so much I love you so much and I have my post notifications on and I subscribe and I give all your videos a thumbs up❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😭❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I have a dcn (double critter nation) for my three girls, I can tell you that gets dirty so fast😂. I'm hoping to start them on 24/7 free roam when we move
Pet beds are fine if that’s what you mean. You shouldn’t really use like wood shavings etc they’re not really needed either and they can be bad for your ferrets.
From what my friends have said about the furplast, it's not a great cage. The door is so small which makes cleaning really hard and it doesn't actually have that much space because there aren't a lot of platforms, giving it a major lack of floor space for the size of the cage. If you decide to get one I encourage you to do some diy with it to add more platforms and make the door bigger. If you can do that then yes it would be great for 2 (or more) ferrets :)
Aight just gonna ask anyway but I think know the answer, can you keep one possibly 2 ferrets in one of those dog kennels that are made for bigger dogs and just add another level to it? Idk if that makes sense but if you understand it I would like to know we just have one that nobody uses and I want a ferret (or two) without spending an extra $200 on a cage Edit: I can make some changes like adding stuff around it if the bars would be too wide
I don't see why that wouldn't work out! Of course, it very much obviously depends on how big the crate is and how you modify it. Sounds like a cool project though! If you end up doing it I'd love to see some pics :D
@@FriendlyNeighborhoodFerrets thanks for the reply it is like a golden retriever/ German Shepard size so pretty big but first step is to decide if I am getting ferrets or not!
I can totally see that working! It still depends on how much out of cage time they get, and how much energy they have of course. Best of luck with your decision
I’m about to get a ferret at the end of the month the only time my ferret will be in her cage is when I’m going to bed or in the shower other then that she will be a free

Xx
i wouldn’t recommend it because, they can easily get hurt
However, as Kenya said, this is only because our ferrets are bred to be able to live comfortably in our climate (and because polecats are native to our countries, ferrets are naturally suited to our climate(s).) x
what happens in the summer do they get hot with fleece and what do you do
I love your videos I might get ferrets also can you make a video about bringing your ferrets home for beginners or is there noting that you really have to do
The biggest thing is to make sure to get your new ferret to the vet for a checkup! I talk about it in my video on quarantining ferrets :)
My ferret still cage rages even though I let him out of his cage for about 10 hours a day. What should I do?
Are you with your ferret and playing with it?
Thank you this was so helpful! :)
Autivan idk how you say it is hutch style ferret cage 4 levels 2 hideouts.
I have been doing research for a few weeks now and I’m thinking of getting 1 ferret during march break. Is like a the ferret nation cage but the single level one big enough? If i do get a ferret and think I should get another ferret I will obviously get the second level but is one level good for just one ferret?
The cage size you get depends entirely on how much time they're going to spend outside of it, their ages, and their individual energy levels so unfortunately I can't give you a yes or no answer :(
Can you make a video of what food you would recommend no meat I mean like pellets
ok thx because i am new here so i need to learn alot about ferrets so thank you berry much
You have like the most sweetest personality
I love you so much
I just wanna hug you so tight🥺😭💗💫
Is the - ferplast ferret tower two story ferret cage - okay for ferrets?
I would make time stamps just so I can add "hitting on friend"
The cage you have is called the WARE Ferret Home, I just looked it up
I watch YOUR videos with my 5 ferrets. They LOVE YOU and YOUR BABIES.....
My cousin has a ferret and her ferret started losing hair Bc of that one disease that you said (sorry I can’t remember). BUT it was only because SHE PUT IT IN HER SUNROOM
Now I feel like a horrible owner because my ferrets have a kaytee 3 level tunnel cage. 😓
My ferrets cage is kinda bland and plain, I have a double unit ferret nation cage. What should I put inside it?
She literally tells you in this video…
hi im a big ferret lover and ur vids really enspier me alot srry im not a good speller but ye
somebody help me ! im planing to get one ferret but i dont know should i get girl or boy and do i need a really big cage for a ferret ? please answer :)
I’ve given my friend a ton of advice and hoping she takes it
Gen Z Jenna Marbles I'm livinnnnn for thisssss !!!
this is the best RUclips comment I've ever gotten. bless.
@@FriendlyNeighborhoodFerrets 😂😂💕
Double Ferret Nation Cage!! 🎉🎉🥳🥳👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
What litter do you use
thank you some much this helped me alot
Were did your get your ferret ? Please respond.❤️❤️❤️

Can you make a dig box video?
I'm hoping to eventually! My girls LOVE dig boxes
Are use the ferret nation is that a good cage?
I wish I could buy the Ferret Nation cage in Australia :( Seems no where has the stock
Hi I have a feisty ferret cage for my two rats is that a good cage
It's okay but i hope your covering the wiring on the floor and give your rats free roam (if they do that ) i don't know a lot about rats though
I love your videos and ferrets
Can you do a video how to train you ferret to not bite
Omg I LOVE your ferret
the cage you have looks exactly like mine! mine is by the brand cozypet
I have a dcn (double critter nation) for my three girls, I can tell you that gets dirty so fast😂. I'm hoping to start them on 24/7 free roam when we move
I read that 2.5 square feet is the minimum for 1 ferret. Is that correct or does it need more than that x
is like bedding good for ferrets ,I use bedding for my ferret- 0.o (Anyone can answer)
Pet beds are fine if that’s what you mean. You shouldn’t really use like wood shavings etc they’re not really needed either and they can be bad for your ferrets.
@@backisayback5147 Alright !
Would you guys think a ferplast ferret cage would be ok for 2 ferrets
From what my friends have said about the furplast, it's not a great cage. The door is so small which makes cleaning really hard and it doesn't actually have that much space because there aren't a lot of platforms, giving it a major lack of floor space for the size of the cage. If you decide to get one I encourage you to do some diy with it to add more platforms and make the door bigger. If you can do that then yes it would be great for 2 (or more) ferrets :)
LOL Ferrets are flying animals now. Does they have angel's wings?
Aight just gonna ask anyway but I think know the answer, can you keep one possibly 2 ferrets in one of those dog kennels that are made for bigger dogs and just add another level to it? Idk if that makes sense but if you understand it I would like to know we just have one that nobody uses and I want a ferret (or two) without spending an extra $200 on a cage
Edit: I can make some changes like adding stuff around it if the bars would be too wide
Unfortunately the etsy shop just closed Y-Y
Good news that their stuff is 50% off
Friendly Neighborhood ferret you need to update the link the store sleepypawz decided to close unfortunately
I have a question can ferrets eat purina cat food
I'm not a fan of purina food for ferrets OR cats. It contains a lot of fillers and carbs, which are really bad for both cats and ferrets.
@@FriendlyNeighborhoodFerrets ok thank you!
Not me getting an advertisement for Kaytee
They shut down there Etsy store
You were moving your ferret’s head when it was saying it needs lots of things #SpoiltFerrets 😊
I’m about to get a ferret at the end of the month the only time my ferret will be in her cage is when I’m going to bed or in the shower other then that she will be a free
adopt or shop?
Adopt all the way
@@keelyncole8552 Thx love
🙂
I let my ferret out like 15 hours a day
Am I the only one who got a custom cage and it’s half the size of your double bed 😂😂😂
