hi, cool video. it might be helpful to know that older lights, that don't support it, can get irritated by rdm and start doing stuff. like flashing or movers can start to jitter.

Lighting instruments that comply with the DMX512 strand will not be affected by RDM, regardless of their age. Brand new fixtures that don’t properly comply with the standard will not work when RDM is present. Is has nothing to do with the age of the instrument, and everything to do with the DMX decoding chips, and wether or not they strictly follow the DMX standard.

More set up system then operating system? You throw all the fittings into place, plug in the RDM and set the fittings into the correct channels, unplug the RDM, plug in favorite controller and run the show.( the RDM may also be your favorite controller ). Is that correct?

Awesome, thank you. I'm looking to build custom shows from audio. I am looking for a good program and console if possible. I'm looking into Emu, but I'm not sure if a console will work with it. Any tips? I've played around with Amazon lights, cheap controller, and soundswitch. I want to do more custom shows with light and laser if possible.

A simplification I know, but isn't RDM essentially the ability of the unit to be able to speak BACK to the device? (Desk, App, etc.)

I think if you clarified who or what this is for, that would be useful.

Among other reasons, it is very useful for changing settings on instruments that aren’t physically accessible.

'Holding and understanding technical knowledge' is one skill - but - 'teaching' is another. The latter is, sorry, not demonstrated here.

Why is DMX lighting still so old fashioned and far from intuitive for mobile DJs - even with the wireless stuff. Why with all the technology we have today is it still the same as it was nearly 40 years ago... It is unnecessarily complicated. All the controllers are exactly the same and have been for years and years

Rs132 is robust & reliable thats why. Everything evolved around it.
Last week I was pleased to control 4000+ch with a simple thin rj45 cable without latency. 10 years ago we had to unroll a 150kg snake & troubleshoot an intermitent dmx output. It has evolved :)
