i will never understand how so many heads dislike this song. when i go to a show, the dark, experimental and discordant parts of the jams OBVIOUSLY produce a hugely positive crowd response and are OBVIOUSLY one of the things the crowd really wants to hear, but when a composed song is written with those same traits, for some reason it becomes some kind of hated bathroom break song??? i dont get it at all. i see thousands of heads at every show ive ever been to absolutely LOVING this kind of music when its played inside of a dark star, other one or unbroken chain, i cant wrap my head around why these types of sounds instantly become undesireable for so many people when they are incorporated into a composed song.
These two nights I’ve always found myself replaying over the years. Back in the trading tape days just to be able to pop it in was something but the day I found video to this legendary run, mind blown, Garcia on Wolf, just wowed!!!
Not Jerry’s Theme song. That could be West LA. Many songs sing the same theme. Hence my above comment. Everybody’s theme. And one of the coolest in your face songs from the GD canon til Jerry’s goodbye in 95.
The Warlocks was the original name of the band, but another band had that name so t hey couldn't use it. From there it went to The Grateful Dead. These 2 nights, they went undercover as The Warlocks (their original name) and no-one knew it was The Dead until the first night was over.
As every lyric ever wrote by the lesser,) I believe is how he referred to himself, the other one,( is as dank as skunk #1 when it came in the can. Day ink
Thanks, but if you notice, I was replying to someone who said that they were billed as the Warlocks, the name of one of Weir's solo band names, and they erased their comment. Just to clear something up for you too, EVERYONE knew it was the GD when the shows were booked. Even the town knew it was. So to say that nobody knew until the first night is over is way off.
+mclearyb b there's never a clear answer to a question like that. i think it may draw from that, but many other experiences. to me it's about inner strife questioning the fate of our souls, "must i choose to lose our win?"
so sick
not one of Bobby's more "popular" songs, but it's always been a favorite for me.

Brilliant recording thanks

This show was billed as the Warlocks. I was there and it was a fantastic show. First Attics of my life in many years was played this night.
This song's from the Dirty Side Of The Street. I love it!
I like that
Ditto
_"Wharf Rats" you don't need dope to dance..!!!!!_
+Jay Calente that's for sure.
"What truth this proof against all lies?
When sacred fails before profane
The wisest man is deemed insane..." Graham/Weir
LOVE this tune!
JERRYS THEME SONG UNFORTUNATE WHAT A TALENT
Everyone’s Theme Song. Garcia loved playing it.
you know nothing, thanks for sharing

head fones--turned up a bit --well--a good bit--you'll think twice about this one !
kudos to Brent on this one, and of course the whole band, but yow

"Used the name of Bobby's old band"...? What? The Warlocks?
Did Bobby write this song about Jerry's issues ?

Could very well be since Bobby witnessed first hand Jerry completely killing himself with heroin and crack cocaine
fwiw, I very much doubt it.
Good point! Bobby confessed himself he WAS Jerry's bag man. So your onto something brother!
OK
Musically speaking, I think this is the last great GD jam. The others from this album do not get "there," imo.
Extra mean and slow
is it me OR is tubetour just not as much fun as it used to be
