A standard price for a slave in west Africa was 3 large metal pots. As far as i know they were not trading for precious metals, they didn't have advanced metal working technology at the time so the pots were valuable to them. How on earth does that contribute to modern wealth. When the British amd french colonised that part of Africa slavery was abolished they installed governers of their own choosing who would be loyal to them. They disempowered the local chiefs so even if they had wealth it didn't make them millionaires.
Also the transatlantic slave trade lasted around 300 years because the British abolished slavery and their navy enforced this on other countries by patrolling the west African coast and trying to stop the purchase of new slaves. The Spanish had a problem with this but couldn't stand up to the British navy so they eventually stopped. Lfg new guru video. Let the slander (facts) commence.
The Yoruba traded slaves for 500 years contributing to many millionaire and billionaire families, to this day.
The arabs and terks were purchasing African slaves for a much longer time before and after maybe that is what you mean by 500 years but they mostly got slaves from east Africa so it has nothing to do with yoruba
@@ld7207 are you saying it’s just a coincidence that the tribes and families who participated in the slave trade are the most wealthy people in the area?
