Since the start of quarantine I've dusted off my old GBAsp and grown my game collection. When I ran into the frustration of wanting to play games that were either very expensive, or impossible to find I turned to the emulator community. For me playing emulators on a PC just isn't the same, I want to be able to hold a console in my hands, and take it on the go. You earned a sub just for this video...well done! I came into it looking for the differences between the 350 & 351, but you sold me on the retroid pocket 2. If I'm going to drop $ for a portable emulation system, I want the most options available so I don't have to carry multiple devices around with a lot of duplication between them. Therefore the play store & steam sold it for me. I also find it ironic that the one with the "best" case has the least variety of gaming options.
Wow! I am stunned at how much time you put into explaining everything. I actually shocked I watched the entire thing! I know what I want now, thanks to you! You earned that subscription! Keep up the good work.

Ah I love your long videos, what a treat. But yeah, you changed my mind about buying the RP2, and I still thank you for that. I don't think it's a bad device, but you made me realize some things that I would hate to do on my own. Android doesn't scare me because I use it daily and I love tinkering my devices, but there are two aspects that I really value, which is the screen and a good d-pad. So, considering the devices on the market right now, I went with Anbernic's middle child. RP2 was a very promising device, and still is great , but it's not for everyone, especially for those who want pick and play devices and for the picky old folks in the community. And I think the RP team will learn a lot from this experience and will be more prepared for their next launch. I believe the RG351p is what the RG350 was, the beginning of something revolutionary. They already have a friendly software and better hardware, and maybe now with the RG351M they also put a better screen on the M-model. Fingers crossed! But one thing is for sure, their next line of devices is going to be crazy! Btw, congrats on the 4k! ;)

I like that the Retroid Pocket 2 (and 2+) feels like a "toy". It reminds me of the Game Boy, like you said. Which I love. I bought the "Retro" colored Pocket 2+ specifically for that nostalgia since it adopts the original DMG Game Boy's colors, and the fact that the plastic reminds me of an old Game Boy, is perfectly fine with me. Thanks for the video, good info.
Nice review. The RG351P is possibly a nice result of strong competition from the RP2. RP2 was right for me because I was already using retroarch on my phone and using it didn't require to learn a whole lot about it's workings. 2020 was the first time these devices became nice enough for me to consider one, and while 2021 might be slow because of the pandemic, the next wave of devices might just be the sweet spot for sub-$150 portable emulation devices, and them taking away double duty from my phone as a gaming device would also make it ok for me to look for more budget oriented phone the next time I have to update.
Should of mentioned the Retroid pocket 2 comes in an awesome assortment of color designs. My shipping took about 2 weeks not 2 months so the supply has gotten better. I've had it a few weeks now and overall happy with it, I actually like the second OS you said you didn't, it comes preloaded with 2k+ games and the store to download more. I don't see a difference between downloading a game or having to install one, you mentioned you should use your own copy of a game but 99% of people using these aren't. Thanks for the comparison video.
To be fair, I think he legally HAS to say that you should provide your own games. Most people that make videos about emulation kinda avoids the topic of obtaining roms, or flat out says you should provide your own from your own physical games. Pretty sure that a video can be demonitized if someone openly supports illegally downloading roms. And this goes even more-so for people that are getting free review units to make videos on.
I just received the retroid pocket 2 and you're right , it's not ready to play out of the box. And the rg351 is actually what I was looking for. A device with a simple interface and easy to navigate. looks like I have to save some money to order the rg351p.
I had a GPD XD and loved it until the screen shorted, and I'm messing around setting up a Retroid Pocket 2 now. I like the form factor of the Retroid but I miss having enough overhead to be able to run all my preferred Retroarch cores with nice shaders rather than sacrificing quality and using 10+ year old speed hacked emulators just get it to run at all in many cases. Wish someone would just make one of these handhelds at a higher price point and quality or even better, a *good* telescopic controller option for my S10 so I can stop trying to get janky obsolete hardware to impress me a decade too late.
Great comparison video. I don't own any of these currently (had the RG350M) but for me the RP2 is the clear winner. Has built in WiFi, also plays Android games, Android gives a selection of multiple emulators per system and once you've configured a front end for it, it can look as user friendly as the 351P.
Yeah, I'm torn about the RP2. It really sounds great on paper, but the actual experience is lacking -- the input lag in the menus alone drives me nuts, streaming is not great, and the Android games that actually play are pretty minimal. But I agree that if you take your time with it you can really tinker it into something that's more enjoyable.
Great Video! I have a 350m coming in about two days and I can't wait to play some GBA games and try out some other emulators. The perfect device for me would have been 351p metal, better res and that would have been the god device! I noticed I like small displays after using the Super Mario game and watch. I am all about my visuals so I had to choose the 350m over the 351p, was thinking about picking up both to compare but the 350m seems a bit superior over the 351p.
Haha, thanks! I love that it actually functions as a regular watch, as opposed to the Apple Watch, which I had previously (it kept demanding too much of my attention!).
I have one in the yellow sunburst color. It's so great having a watch that has a good battery life, but still gives me the information I want. Great for longer backpacking trips where I can't charge it for a while.
Fantastic, detailed review on consoles I knew very little about (until now!) I have always been a huge fan of handheld systems and have a quite a few in my collection. I will definitely be buying a RG351P :-)
Very nice video! I have a 350M and just got the RP2. I would like to play some Dreamcast games but, most of them play poorly on RP2. I hoped the 351P would play better, but watching your video helped clarify me. I will wait until these handhelds improve a little more. And I share the same opinion about the RP2 controls.
I think that's the perfect approach. We need a bit more horsepower before we see smooth performance. I'm just holding out for Dolphin/Gamecube, then I'll *really* be a happy camper :)
I just ended up getting a rg280m cause I found one for $45 new. It does everything the 350m does and I think the same 320x480 resolution on the smaller tempered glass screen looks even better.

Nice review! Interesting.
This review is a gasp of fresh air. Informations presented clearly and *critical* analysis.
Thanks for watching!
I gotta give this a subscribe. Very in-depth
Thanks for joining the team!
Incredible video with full of information, thanks! In my opinion, the best handheld gaming console has not been released yet :D
Great comparison review. The obvious conclusion is to wait for something better to arrive that isn't flawed in at least one major way.
A prudent choice!
Great stuff. Thanks!
Very nicely done 👍
amazing comparison. lit
I just received the retroid pocket 2 and you're right , it's not ready to play out of the box.
And the rg351 is actually what I was looking for. A device with a simple interface and easy to navigate.
looks like I have to save some money to order the rg351p.
GPD XD Plus for me. Returned the 350M and loving this much more
It definitely has a good amount of processing power, but that form factor is a little off-putting to me. Is it comfortable to hold?
No issues for me, same feeling as the 3DS
Not really worth saying, it also costs over twice the price so they are not competing products.
Another great video!
Thank you!
Great review. Very academic. Nice voice. Pleasant to ear/eye and well strictured.
Thank you kindly!
Great video! I've bought my rp2 on sep 8th, and still waiting T.T
Oh man, sorry to hear that. That is a loooong wait!
Wow. That’s longer than it took for me. I’m in South Africa. Ordered mid September and got it mid November
Great video. Those diagrams really lay features out nicely.
the colour of that retroid pocket 2 is mesmerizing
Haha, I agree. When I ordered there were only a few options (yellow, blue, and pink), but even now with new colors available I still prefer my yellow!
Excellent Overview!!!. So improvements for the next RG352.....
L&R trigger placement like the Retroid Pocket
4:3 large display
HDMI Out
CPU Upgrade
I can definitely get behind all of those upgrades :)
Great video
Thanks!
Great Video! I have a 350m coming in about two days and I can't wait to play some GBA games and try out some other emulators. The perfect device for me would have been 351p metal, better res and that would have been the god device! I noticed I like small displays after using the Super Mario game and watch. I am all about my visuals so I had to choose the 350m over the 351p, was thinking about picking up both to compare but the 350m seems a bit superior over the 351p.
does the 350m do NDS and PSP?
Thank you for all the videos. Also as a Garmin employee and fellow Instinct owner, Nice watch! lol
Glad I could help!
Excellent review, thank you. I will try to play Manx TT Superbike on Sega Saturn when my RG351P arrives ⭐️
I just ended up getting a rg280m cause I found one for $45 new.
It does everything the 350m does and I think the same 320x480 resolution on the smaller tempered glass screen looks even better.
By the way you are really a awesome reviewer.God bless!
I can tell I have seen all your videos and I would love to buy a handheld designed by you dude!!
