    I love your view of women. Sadly, with the way our culture is, some women truly believe they are just objects to be used and forget how human they are. I personally struggle with this sometimes. I'm thankful that God reminds me that I'm His daughter and He made me beautiful every time I see a guy starring at my body like an object.

    This is eye opening and timely. When we think objectification of women we think "as long as I don't use her for sex I'm good." but it goes so much more deeper than that. This week's spiritual project is to constantly remind myself and see everyone as creatures who bear the image of God. Everyone including myself.

      Serenoj69 Dude, that's not the truth. Thing is God is the good dad who takes care of you all the time. Satan is the thug that hurts you and tries to give you hell. He knows he can't be God so he'll try and beat you. All the crap in life is not from God, it's from Satan. There are a lot of Christians who'll talk about God without mentioning Satan, which is why it sometimes sounds like sugar-coated BS. God isn't your enemy, Satan is.
      As for the abusive father, it's a person who has allowed Satan to control them, temporarily or permanently. I can't imagine the pain someone feels being abused like that. Must be horrible.

    The devil will never let it be easy for us as young Christians. For guys, we're force fed a message that girls are only worth to sleep with and stare at. For girls, you're told to wear less and more revealing clothing to be "worthy" or seen as "attractive". This is a product of our society. We should ALL strive to FLEE sexual immorality.

    • @charliedaisynjinks
      @charliedaisynjinks 8 лет назад +2

      Messianic Jews are Jews that believe Jesus is the messiah. He is usually referred to by Jews as Yeshua which is his original Hebrew name. The only difference is that we follow the instructions of the Torah. Not for our salvation, as Yeshua has kinda got that sorted! Haha but we do follow the Torah because Yeshua did and the apostles did all through the new testament. Some people will use certain bible verses to say that what we're doing is wrong, but its' usually out of context or just a little misunderstood really. And on the other side, some messianic Jews think that they are superior to christians because of what they do... That's not true either! Promise! We're all equally saved and redeemed. If you have any questions do ask! I'm really bored on my week off!

If u fulfill these conditions, God bless but if u dont u need to seek to brother

I was brought up in a more conservative religious background my sister and I struggled with our self image because we thought it was wrong to want to look pretty/look good. I have dealt with the "Modesty Police" that you were mentioning, and they make you feel like you are the worst Christian in the world because you were showing your knee. It is true that moment should not dress in a way that draws attention to her body so that men will see how good she looks, but I have had men at Christian college that objectified me and I was dressed in a super conservative manner. Maybe you see the husband, father and friend in man that you "want" but dont see the whole person! A man can be a husband father and friend but he allways wants sex too!
      That probably the reason why god wants us to have sex in marrige only. So nobody get exploided.

The few guys who weren't already in a relationship I would always run away from. At a certain point, I realized this was because I wanted to know that guys found me attractive but I didn't want the commitment or vulnerability that happened in a relationship. I do eventually want to get married. Something that's helped me is praying to God to help prepare me for my husband and help my husband be prepared for me.

    Me and my bf been dating for three years but we get into this constant fight. He’s a huge gamer. Spends a lot of his time and money on many different games, especially popular games like overwatch, apex, fortnight, halo, and for honor (his main games) there are a lot of games that I pointed out that don’t have much of nothing to do with sexualization. But when it comes across in a game like overwatch, I have this problem with it. I told him how I felt about it, and was ignored. The fights increased and he’s come to the point where he tells me “they look like that because thats how they are, it’s who they are” Now I’m scared. He honestly thinks that women’s proportions and clothes in games have a purpose. I understand it may be nice and pleasurable to see for a man. But as a women I see nothing but disrespect. Using women’s body to gain audience. Disturbing.

    Thanks! This was a beautiful, gospel-centered take on this subject that you took in a fresh direction. STRONG AGREE.
    And sometimes women commodify men as only how much money they make: I think dating culture is broken and women aren't given enough time or ability to build trust with men, so this becomes an unhealthy shortcut to choose a guy but just like exclusively eating fast-food; is not in anyone's best interest.
    I think the way we've been dating since the 50's should be entirely re-evaluated (since the results have been especially dangerous for women) and bring back match-makers in churches and/or communities. I don't want my dad to choose a guy for me, but neither do I feel safe/confident choosing which strangers to trust without some help getting a background check and setting expectations so we match expectations better at each stage of a building a new connection.

    I have BDD and studies show that sufferers of this disorder do not see their image in a mirror as a whole (global) but as bits and pieces (local). It literally distorts your image. It causes so much damage to the human soul. Similar to the way woman are viewed in our culture based on the study you mentioned

    Honest Question Jeff: What about objectification of men in, as you said, porn, advertising and sextual objectification etc? I think there is a huge pressure on men (especially christian men) to meet those standards by women? Dont mean to say you are biased or anything, but i think you are missing out a percentage of vulnerable men who are objectified but not spoken for. Love you vids man, God bless and Cheers from England :)

    • @crystalflores797
      @crystalflores797 8 лет назад +1

      I think he did when he was talking about how the base of the problem is that our culture has shifted to one that enable people to view others as commodities. Yes men do suffer from some of the same objectification but I think that it's become especially obvious to Jeff since the two most important people in his life at the moment are women, that women suffer from this disproportionately more than men do (although it's quickly getting worse for men as well).

    • @NoName-yt7lv
      @NoName-yt7lv 8 лет назад +1

      I appreciate your perspective, Crystal, but I think Sam Gilbert was actually talking about a subject we all could support more. In a culture where men objectify women, the men unknowingly are victims of it, too. I put a link for a Ted talk in my original comment that expands on this more. It may even help reduce the objectification of women if we focus on the men who learn it but don't really know what it means. Some men just treat women this way because they think they're supposed to. By providing them with education about other ways to be a man they can also find happier lives. Women, I think, are targeted most often because of the nature of survival. That's why I think we need to focus on them so much, but at the same time men shouldn't be an afterthought. That could just increase the culture in the wrong direction.

    I live in America, and at the age of 14 I can't walk home from school without men whistling, honking, or trying to "get my number". Some of these guys are in there 20's and up. I told my mom, and she bought me some pepper spray, and just recently a high voltage taser; and I've practiced using it, so the guys that approach me, are gonna get hit. It's crazy that I have to carry these things at 14 so I can feel safe walking home from school.

      +Erik Hedberg Karlsson What is so disgusting? Why are you so judgemental of yourself? How about acceptance? I do not objectify women. I love how they look and get aroused by the female beauty and that is (also) with their cloths on. I can fancy many women in my bed far more thanthey fancy me of course ;-) I fail to see any harm in that at all. It does not prevent me for treating every person in this world equally kind, mindfull and empathic. Most people have many layers, in which all things together play a part but it varies per person. And one of it is also physical attraction, loving the opposite or same sex just for how they look. Sometimes also for who they are but sometimes not. And at least to me, that is fine. I am not going to deny my personallity cause some dogma tells me so.

      +monica gutierrez Eh no.....guys are guys. Religion has so little influence on that hardwired preference of us to see physically attractive females. Just like religion cannot prevent gays being gay, Christians tend to be so delusional in thinking that religion makes people somehow better. Just look at the USA: how many people killed, how many wars, how many people killed in the USA with guns by fellow citizens. The nr1 killers in this world are not terrorists, it is the USA. A so called Christian nation. Religion leads to division, to people thinking they have superior morals just etc. We have dumped christianity in most of Europe especially where I live. We have far lower crimerates, our homiciderates is 500% lower than in the USA, we got rid of apartheid in the 19th century (USA in 1967 or so). Really: delusional.

    I am curious to know what you think about our connections to objectifying women and the nature of survival? I know a lot of evil's in the world stem from our brains just trying to find a way to best survive (accumulate food and resources, control the environment to avoid danger, secure a womb to continue on the species, etc.). How much of this do you think is linked to our problems of objectification modern day?
    I know you have a lot of comments, so I'll just be happy if you at least know that I asked!
    Have a nice week.

It's weird because most of my friends are guys and I was raised with 5 brothers. I could be wearing baggy stuff with no makeup which is my everyday attire but still get unwanted attention. See the demands of this culture especially the commands and demands of pharoah are crushing on women they feel like they can not win on either side...when a man looks at a women and sees a peice of meat or a product not an image bearer of God he's caludeing with the culture of pharoah but also every time a women dresses in a way to lurer attention and kind of lowers herself as an image barer in her own mind she's coluding with the culture of pharoah."

    when Jefferson startet to criticize women for the way women dress I was very dissappointed. I as a woman can dress as revealing as men do. Just because i have a female body it does not mean that i have to follow different rules. I am just fed up with the pressure, threaths and blame women get to pressure them wearing clothes that cover their "sinful" bodies. it has to stop!

  • @lovinglifefreely

    Thank you Jeff for this, I do feel thought that we need to be mindful as Christian woman of what clothes we wear though Clothes made for woman today (Jeans, leggings, yoga pans, low cut tops, shorts, swimsuits) all reveal the woman's form in a way that draws attention to her so no matter how hard a guy tries to honor woman by not objectifying them, they have to almost look away. This isn't fare to the men, as one who wears skirts and dresses only, it's a honor for me to dress modestly to be mindful for my Christian brothers. It goes deeper though too, It's to honor God also and it changes the woman's mindset when you dress feminine.

    I think as outsiders we try to justify why rape happens so that we can have peace of mind, sound intelligent, and move on. It takes selflessness to sit and greive with someone who was raped, much like we should treat those who have lost a loved one. I regret telling a best friend that she shouldn't have hung out with certain guys. Really, all the blame falls completely on the rapist.
