Just stopping by to say I really appreciate your content. I’ve been in a relationship for 10 years and am getting married at the end of the month. My ADHD effects every part of my life and it breaks my heart sometimes to know that everyone close to me is also impacted negatively by things I struggle (but always try) to control. It makes me fearful to be a burden on another person or to be the reason my future child might struggle (considering how hereditary it is). Open conversation like this helps me to feel less alone and makes it all seem just a smidge less impossible than it did before watching. Thanks for helping others feel less alone and I wish you and your wife all the best in your neurodiverse marriage! 😊

Hey Elizabeth! Congrats on your upcoming wedding! I hope that goes great! And I totally relate to what you’re saying. It definitely can be heavy feeling like a core part of you negatively affects those around you. I feel like the more you gain acceptance for yourself, the less hard you are on yourself in those situation’s. But idk haha I feel like it’s a daily thing to try and figure out how to balance! Anyways I really appreciate your comment! It’s great to see people getting something from this!

Came across this vid on r/ADHD. Great work guys! Glad to see another channel spreading ADHD positivity 😊. I just got diagnosed recently myself.
One suggestion for future vids: if you have multiple people speaking, try to balance out the volume of each each person. I found myself adjusting the volume over and over again as you each took turns speaking, and that made it hard to get through the video.
Best of luck with your channel!

Hey Victor! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I hope you can find more community with your recent diagnosis! I really appreciate the feedback about the audio levels! I'll put more effort in future videos to make sure the audio is well balanced!

This just helped me so much! I’m going to make my girlfriend watch this with me seriously lol it’s really relieving to hear that someone else and their relationship has been effected like mine has. Thanks for making this!

This video is waay too positive haha! I'm only partially kidding! But kudos to you 2 for making it work. The one thing really bugging me with my ADD is the fact that me not focusing is impeding working towards my potential and that makes me frustrated and seeps negatively into my relationship as well. Also a videographer here. Thanks for the video.

Hey! I just came across your page finding my answers on why my husband is the way he is. He also has ADHD and you explained him to the T! The only difference is we have a kid and I feel like he doesn’t prioritize his time with the “family” as much. Anyways, I’m looking forward to more content. Keep up the great work!

Cool watching both of you! I am the ADHD one in our marriage, married to my wife for 12 years now.
I was diagnosed when being very young (8 years old), and stopped taking medication so I can't relate to the part of you being different when taking medication versus not taking medication. Sometimes I wish I had this magic to focus ;-)
A thing that occurred to me while watching this video: to me it seems like a lot of things you attribute to coping with ADHD are just 'coping with living together with another human being and accepting them in how they are'
For example. To me it seems you are the talkative guy in the relationship. Even one step further as I sense in this video: Its 'thinking out loud'.
With me and my wife, it confused my wife many times because she only talks when se has thought it through. So she makes the assumption that I also have thought deeply about the things I say... but I did not.
This example is about me not communicating well, but neither did my wife. And when we find this out and finally did go deeper into this, we discovered we both had learned not-so-helpful patterns in communication from our parents. Not that much to blame on ADHD here.
Another thing that occured to me while watching the both of you: are you both getting enough attention?
Me and my wife need an equal amount of attention. Focusing too much on ADHD (or something else, for instance everyone has a childhood trauma) makes that 1 person receives a lot more attention in the relationship. Thats not good on the long run. Make sure there is a place for the both of you.
And the last thing: the line Mia said 'I married the adhd guy' really hit home with me.
I got so wrong here myself in my relationship with my wife, because I thought I was wrong (having ADHD) and my wife my 'saviour'. That idea really twisted my mind. My wife really liked a lot about the ADHD, and just wanted to understand me more and find a way of making it easier to live with for me and her (and our 2 kids). By me accepting more of my ADHD and letting it be, we created a stability that allowed the both of us to grow.

My adhd hubby & I were together for 10+ years & had the same positive perspective. Having two kids changed everything. His adhd has a much bigger impact now and it’s remarkably more difficult to manage the impacts of his adhd. We’ve been together 20+ but it is not as easy as it used to be. A cautionary tale, I guess.

    Thanks for mentioning the anxiety!

your videos are so helpful!! I realized how much ADHD impacts my daily life when I started dating my wonderful girlfriend. Your channel is great, and Mia seems so smart and kind, love her romper too green suits her! Thanks for making this video. Helps to know I'm not alone! :) EDIT: 6:35, this is exactly why my gf says she fell in love with me, one of the main reasons! It feels amazing to be loved for having ADHD, instead of the opposite (which I was used to before her, which is being yelled at/mocked/bullied). I wish everyone gets the chance to be celebrated and loved for their differences and specialties, instead of left out embarrassed or bullied.

    • @NaniNaa
      @NaniNaa 2 года назад

@@allylove21 A therapist will do some tests regarding your mental speed, impulsivity, etc. but in order to do that you must have at least 6 of the symptoms they have on a list, and honestly a bunch of other stuff I’ve already forgotten 🤪 guess what? I actually got diagnosed with ADHD, who would’ve known right? Haha

Im with the guy with 2 personalities. One with aderall and the normal ADHD. I like the normal Adhd than with the one with medication. It’s like a totally different person. It’s exhausting extremely. But as long as you accept the person and you can deal with it, it’ll work.
