      zr2trackerjoe I want to upgrade mine....any hints, thoughts or recommendations?

    • @zr2trackerjoe
      @zr2trackerjoe  7 лет назад

      +clbwpgmb I recommend a few inch spacer kit from low range offroad, the one that comes with shocks, replace front struts and if you want different wheels go for that rather than spacers like I did. Wheel bearings don't like wheel spacers. Just do yourself a favor and save and buy all you need to do the job rather than do it multiple times. Then once you have everything it goes smoothly with that first drive being like driving a new car. A family member of mine stressed this as I lifted mine and he was right. Yeah it took longer but we'll worth. Also ask around for the best old timer alignment shop, not a chain place and not a dive either. Someone who can make it right. It will need aligned after lifting. If I could do over I would have found a better shop and waited to do tires and lift at the same time. I know it may be hard but patience till ya have all the parts is key to having a great driving rig. Any other questions comment below...

    good stuff I have stock 2004 grand vitara 2.0 litre popular down here in nz vitaras. those fellas can keep the there gas guzzeler trucks Zuks got it going on.

    • @zr2trackerjoe
      @zr2trackerjoe  8 лет назад

      +Harry Potty the 2.0 IMHO would've been an acceptable choice vs the v6. Power and torque is not all that worse vs the gas mileage as I'm only averaging 16

    • @harrypotty5643
      @harrypotty5643 8 лет назад +1

      yea true its good they stayed compact. for me vits are more pure to the original willies jeep compared to jeeps of today. light weight versatile, Do not know about mechanically as not Knowledgeable on that subject. just love them

    I have a 1999. 50K miles 2.o L. Runs great, not great for interstate travel imo but I don't travel interstate so who cares. A.C works great in the desert too. I need new tires and admire your setup. Soon will upgrade too.

    I saw one for 2500 but I also saw a 5.9 Durango at the same price. I know the tracker would be more off road capable but I've always wanted a V8

    Do you have part number for the lockouts. Also I need part numbers for the rear shock or something that will work. I heard crown Vic shocks will work but what year. Please help thanks.

    Hey joe are your rims back spaced at all ? just put on my 235s with stock 5.5 rims and there just slight rubbing on the frame when turned fully over, just wondering what your experience is? im lifted about the same height so thats not a issue

  • @mxpx148

    Nice tracker👍🏻. Looking into a 2005 Grand Vitara this weekend...you ever look into lockers for these? Do they make any?

    • @zr2trackerjoe
      @zr2trackerjoe  6 лет назад

      mxpx148 I believe that only way to go the locker route is to get a late 90s geo 3rd member and install the locker in that. I'm not 100 percent that that would apply up to the 05 or not. ARB and lockrite are about the only choices.

      Trackerjoe thx Joe...I’ll have a lot to learn if I pick it up. It’s supposed to be my winter/commuter car, but I’m sure I won’t be able to leave it alone lol

    So today I purchased a 2004 2.5L Tracker and I need to change the tires right away. The stock tires look so weeney. Any advice I can get will be GREATLY appreciated!

    • @zr2trackerjoe
      @zr2trackerjoe  7 лет назад +1

      +clbwpgmb 235-75-15s fit with no lift but I'd say go 2 in lift if possible. If you also have a zr2 you may need to trim up some plastic to eliminate noise on turns

  • @calebjames7314
    @calebjames7314 7 лет назад +1

    what size lift kit do you have, I just got the same vehicle and I was wondering if I buy wheels and bigger tires before the lift kit?

    • @zr2trackerjoe
      @zr2trackerjoe  7 лет назад +1

      Rabbi Danky I ran 235 75 15s before the lift and had some rubbing issues. Got the lift and 1" 1/4 wheel spacers and that is how it sits in the video. it is do able with 235s but probably not any bigger

    • @zr2trackerjoe
      @zr2trackerjoe  7 лет назад

      +Rabbi Danky 2 inch with 29 inch tires...

  • @shawnnoblin4248
    @shawnnoblin4248 7 лет назад

    hey again, how bad was the rub on the 235's. I found some marked down for 70 a piece ha

    • @zr2trackerjoe
      @zr2trackerjoe  7 лет назад

      Shawn Noblin rubs frame at full lock in steering, and will rub when flexed, also if you have a ZR2 the front flaps will rub. that's a good deal though. 1 and 1/4 wheel spacers got rid of the frame rub and the 2 in spacers got rid of the rest

    • @shawnnoblin4248
      @shawnnoblin4248 7 лет назад

      Thx, and yes in do have the zr2. So I would need to do the lift. What is the biggest size w/o lift. I don't really have the money for extra mods but the 205 looks pathetic ha

  • @shawnnoblin4248
    @shawnnoblin4248 7 лет назад

    looks great man. I want to get the same lift as you but couldn't find it on low range. you know the part number?

    • @zr2trackerjoe
      @zr2trackerjoe  7 лет назад

      +Shawn Noblin thanks part # is C2BLKV-RS

    • @shawnnoblin4248
      @shawnnoblin4248 7 лет назад

      Thanks man. Did u have to do anything for the back struts

    • @zr2trackerjoe
      @zr2trackerjoe  7 лет назад

      +Shawn Noblin it comes with rear shocks. Depending on what shape you front struts are in I recommend doing them since you will need an alignment after lifting anyway. Also you will want 4 camber bolts.

    • @shawnnoblin4248
      @shawnnoblin4248 7 лет назад

      Would u recommend longer struts in the front instead of the strut spacer.. I'm sure they need replacing regardless

    • @zr2trackerjoe
      @zr2trackerjoe  7 лет назад

      +Shawn Noblin I don't know if anyone makes one. I bought Monroe sensatrac struts at the local parts store and used the spacer. Not sure but possibly Old Man Emu makes a longer strut? I also left the sway bar off after the lift. Never noticed a difference

  • @gabrielalfaro1040

    Hey...did you modify something on the caster on the front suspension? So the tires get good balance?

    • @zr2trackerjoe
      @zr2trackerjoe  6 лет назад +1

      +Gabriel Alfaro 4 camber bolts were needed with the lift to get lined up correctly

    • @gabrielalfaro1040
      @gabrielalfaro1040 6 лет назад

      zr2trackerjoe so and it's enough with those bolts or I will have to file something on the support ?

    @gabrielalfaro1040 6 лет назад

    What model are those hubs...I looking for one kit for mine

    • @zr2trackerjoe
      @zr2trackerjoe  6 лет назад

      +Gabriel Alfaro they are just the warn premium s. Ok don't have a part number but I believe lowrangeoffroad.com sells them still

    • @gabrielalfaro1040
      @gabrielalfaro1040 6 лет назад

      zr2trackerjoe I just found them I think they are the 34581 model...at least they say the they work on gen 2 trackers

    • @zr2trackerjoe
      @zr2trackerjoe  6 лет назад

      +Gabriel Alfaro I believe whatever works on the gen 1 w/26 spline axles will also fit gen 2. Everyone always talks up the Aisin hubs but I didn't know about them till after I had warns.

    • @gabrielalfaro1040
      @gabrielalfaro1040 6 лет назад

      zr2trackerjoe I think you are right I was reading on a forum and they say that the locking hubs for the gen 1 tracker will fit perfectly on the gen 2

  • @AliAariyan
    @AliAariyan 8 лет назад

    did you have any CV issues without the warn hubs?

    • @zr2trackerjoe
      @zr2trackerjoe  8 лет назад

      +Ali A no. It was simply a preventative measure. The issue is usually with the aluminum differential housing than the cv axles. But no spinning whilst on the road can't hurt.

    • @AliAariyan
      @AliAariyan 8 лет назад

      i hear ya. what do you think the max tire size is with the 2 inch spacer lift?

    • @AliAariyan
      @AliAariyan 8 лет назад

      did you use the camber bolts for the front? was it difficult to install?

    • @zr2trackerjoe
      @zr2trackerjoe  8 лет назад

      +Ali A used 4 camber bolts to get correct alignment even though the instructions on Low Range Off Roads site said 2. Install went well, the other thing like sized bolts and such were the biggest issue. Been almost 3 years on the spacers now and love them and the look. Check out MrSputnik1988's channel as he went from the spacers to Old man Emu springs for lift. The better setup IMHO.

    • @zr2trackerjoe
      @zr2trackerjoe  8 лет назад

      +Ali A 30 in would be OK but rubbing would be an issue. I have 235 75 15s on it now and get some rub
