would be interesting to see smokes utilizing the housing design of military hand smokes. They are made with a metal shell and 3- 4 small holes for the smoke to fume out of instead of one larger one and it seems to contribute to their effectiveness

I sent you e-mail, check your spam folder if you don't see it.
Are you in Canada? I saw your AR10 range video, nice. Because I only belong to an indoor range (which doesn't allow launchers) it's difficult for me to get a video up. I'm trying to make some friends with farmers thet'll let me do some shooting on their property but so far not much luck. If I can find an outdoor range that'll let me use the launcher then I'll be able to get a bunch of nice videos up!!
For the range: Pretty random :( The EG burst smokes are hollow, and the size of the hole through the middle is completely random (they put gunpowder syrup down the center of the smoke that dries hard, to spread the flame from the wick to the other end of the smoke igniting the smoke powder along the way, so depending on how much they put in and how it ended up drying, determines how hollow it is), so it makes the range of them pretty random. I tried gluing a plug in the front (not the end you light) of the smoke (to seal it to make the range more consistent) but the smoke just ruptured in the barrel from the internal pressure.
Quality: Also pretty random. If when you light it off the pressure cracks some of the gunpowder syrup in the center then there is a possibility that not all of the smoke powder inside will ignite, causing a slow burning smoke and/or it not putting out the full smoke. To prevent this (plus the random range issue) I built an entire case to launch the smoke in (works best in 40mm launchers) and it worked absolutely flawless, consistent range AND a perfect smoke burn every time. The problem is the case isn't very reusable, it's a bitch to make, AND with the smoke in the case it's too tall to fit in an M203 without removing the barrel to load it (annoying).
I've got a new propellant powder load I'm going to try with firing the smoke grenade BACKWARDS, to see if it'll hold up better with a plug in it that way. I'll let you know the results when I find a place to launch.

    • @toysareforboys1

The 40mm launcher shown in this video is a "real gun", meaning I can only shoot it at places that you're allowed to discharge firearms at (range, somewhere far out of town with permission of property owner, etc.). The range close to me is indoors only so I can't shoot the smokes there and I don't have any friends with farms/property out of town. When I had access to the 37mm launcher before (it's a non-gun so you can shoot it "anywhere") I was able to shoot lots of these smoke rounds, about 12 in total. The setup in this video ignites the smoke as soon as it leaves the barrel and travels about 60 meters (leaving a smoke trail leading back to the shooter) or using this setup with my "long range adapter" (a plastic cup that slips over the top of the adapter in this video so that only the fuse gets ignited, plus creates a gas seal from the smoke to the barrel) the smoke travels 200 meters and don't start smoking until it lands.

I would recommend you get this launcher instead, it's legal to shoot it anywhere and has a 39.5mm internal diameter barrel (smooth unfortunately) so you can launch these smokes from it no problem: dlaskarms.com/product/tac-79-ordnance-group-37mm-launcher/
