Hey, you are now officially the Birds and the Bees expert! The shop cabinet look great. The banding for the plywood edges looks very nice. Looking forward to seeing how you finish the cabinet.
Nice idea with the dbl sided cabinet. Thts cool the mother didnt abandon them and came back. My 3yrold made me rewind tht part like 10xs haha ur a good guy john and love ur paintings btw awsome
Joe Walters Thanks Joe, I'm going to get the short bird video up later today and I'm looking forward to showing it to my daughter .... so far it looks like that there going to make it.
Good build BUT the best part was the bird nest story. The mother bird is saying "they don't build them like they used to" and "Thanks for the renovation"! Best use of spring clamps I have seen in a long while! Thanks for sharing!
nice save on the birdies... nice cabinet too. I like the double side doors. I'm trying to decide if I want a separate cabinet for my miter saw, that will be just low enough so that if I need my out-feed table to support long work I'll be able to do that.
Jon, I seriously love your work. You strike the right balance between practicality and art. Just curious, what kind of ply do you usually use for shop cabinets?
Great videos! You have the best tools and techniques. Your workshop is neatly arranged too. How do you keep your workshop free of sawdust? You do all the cutting inside.
Very cool video and bird rescue. Jon, maybe you've address the type of screws you use and where you get them, but watching this video reminded me I'm getting low and need to get some more screws; could you let me know what you're using? Thanks Jon, enjoy the weekend.
hey Jon, I like the work that you do and I watch your videos for good information. I am buying a brad nailer, and was wondering how to choose the correct size of brad nails for a particular size of wood. thanks for your time
nice cabinet. You have a great shop. Not being nosey but what part of the country are you living in? I would like to see the video with the 3 little birds, show it to my kids. Thanks for entertaining.
Jon, do you think that chop saw cabinet would be strong enough to hold a 142lb bench top drill press? I would turn it 90 degrees and mount it length wise.
Hi Jon, I really enjoy watching your videos even though the projects are way above my skill level. Everything I have seen you make looks great and you make it look so easy. I just recently (within the last 6 months) picked up woodworking as a hobby and was wondering why poplar and birch plywood is used vs. some of the other plywoods available at the home stores. Also, the shelving hole jig you use, do you have any information on that like? Seems like it always fits where you need to use it :). Thanks.. Bryan
Jon, i really like your router flush cut setup. None of my routers have an open base like the one u use. Did you have to modify the base of your router to do that?
Beautiful piece of shop furniture. Why did you use epoxy on the plugs? Dry time? Your palm router setup you used to trim the plugs flush was brilliant; I have a habit of damaging the plywood veneer using a saw.
Thanks for another great video! I really liked your solution for flush cutting the plugs, especially using a dovetail bit to ensure that the bit first contacts the plug at the plane you are looking to cut at. May I ask what router base you used that is semicircular? I can only find bases that go 360 degrees around the bit. Did you modify an existing base, or did you find one that is actually a semicircle? Thanks!
Hi Jon. Another great project. You make it look so easy! Would you consider doing an entire video on wood finishing. I'm completely confused about what to use when. Lacquer, oil based water based. Clear versus stain. Tongue oil...what the hell is that and when do you use it. Stain and lacquer versus just stain. Gloss, statin or matt? Can you put a lacquer after tongue oil? It would be really great if you could. Cheers
Good job making these neat videos. The MDF boards(Plywood) are expensive at my lowes/home depot store going for 60 dollars a panel. Where do you buy your wood?
@MrBorisuri yes, i think that would work just fine, tho I would make it bigger with lockable, sturdier casters :) and also I would make the cabinet to fit a bucket if yours throw the sawdust downwards :)
5:21 - that's me like 90% of the time! That's one of the nicest shop cabinets I've seen!
Nice work on the cabinet for your shop. So glad you saw the birds in time.
Love the double sided cabinet. Gives me a few ideas for my garage/workshop. I love the story and video of the birds. Nice job!
dvm0retti thank you

Nice video.
Great videos! You have the best tools and techniques. Your workshop is neatly arranged too. How do you keep your workshop free of sawdust? You do all the cutting inside.
Another great project and video, John! May make myself something like this but with flip-up wings for longer stock.
BradleyMakes Thanks, sure and thats a good idea, I did think about doing that and I'll try to talk about in the next video
Nice cabinet build and great that you kept a bird family together. Drainage in the bottle nest holder?
Nice job.
What is the name of the hinges? Thanks.
Cool project. Now I have that Bob Marley song "Three Little Birds" stuck in my head (not a bad thing).
Barry's Workshop Ha : ) great song!
Very cool video and bird rescue.

Hi Jon,
Are you planning to add outriggers so you can cut longer stock? If not, what would you recommend as an approach?
Thanks.
nice cabinet! how did you do the brake system on the wheels? greetings from the the Netherlands!
great video as normal, quick question would using dado's make this strong or is it more effort than its worth?

Jon, great job again.
Beautiful baby birds.

Jon, i really like your router flush cut setup. None of my routers have an open base like the one u use. Did you have to modify the base of your router to do that?
Thanks, yes I used the old one to line up the holes
Beautiful piece of shop furniture. Why did you use epoxy on the plugs? Dry time? Your palm router setup you used to trim the plugs flush was brilliant; I have a habit of damaging the plywood veneer using a saw.
Andrew Kavanagh Ha : ) yeah me to thats why I use the router, yes the fast dry time.
What height do you like your miter saw table at? Great work as always.
Thanks for another great video! I really liked your solution for flush cutting the plugs, especially using a dovetail bit to ensure that the bit first contacts the plug at the plane you are looking to cut at.

David Handley Thanks David, sure I'll try to get something up soon
Great job. Looks great. Why did you use an epoxy for glue on the plugs instead of just regular wood glue? And what king of wood was that? Cherry?
Anthony Tobias Thanks Anthony, the plugs are cherry and I used epoxy for the fast dry time
Nice. Thanks for letting me know.
Have you thought about using Sketchup to make your plans?
Shane Cole I love hand sketches. Complex compound angle builds on the other hand may gain with Sketchup
здорово. джон а можешь показать, как сделать кухонные шкафы.
Is the top fastened in any way or simply press fit?
Yes two screws
Hi. Jon.
Jon, what brand of woodglue do you use? It looks like a bottle of mayonnaise!
Good job making these neat videos. The MDF boards(Plywood) are expensive at my lowes/home depot store going for 60 dollars a panel. Where do you buy your wood?
TheNewhowtoThanks, mostly at the lumber yard ... about 60 for 3/4 birch ply and 40 for mdf
@MrBorisuri yes, i think that would work just fine, tho I would make it bigger with lockable, sturdier casters :) and also I would make the cabinet to fit a bucket if yours throw the sawdust downwards :)
No dados to receive the divider or shelves? Just nor needed?
Thanks for the video. Cabinet looks lovely. Do you recommend something similar for portable table saw?
MrBorisuri yes if your going to keep the saw in the shop
Feed them jon
Baby birds, +1.
