  • Recent strides in Bhutan marked a significant shift as full ordination for women was organized in 2022. Venerable Bhikkhuni Dhammananda expresses joy over this development, even though it aligns with the Mulasarvastivada tradition.
Reflecting on Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia, the Venerable notes the mutual influence among these nations. She shares that Cambodia has initiated women's ordination, with some candidates educated in Western countries. Optimistic about progress, she highlights the potential for change if women themselves step forward.
The Venerable recounts her 1999 meeting with the Sangharaja in Cambodia, who expressed willingness to support local donchees (nuns) in becoming bhikkhunis. Despite challenges, she emphasizes that progress is possible when women are proactive.

Myanmar has a really difficult situation right now with worse political problems and extreme religious people. Here, in myanmar, people are really greddy and extremist even more than 85 percent are buddhist. Only Thereavada monks can exit in this country that other sects are not allowed to built Sanga communities such as Mahayana buddhism is nearly forbidden with fake informations, fake histories and hate seech are talking by head senior buddhist monks. We burmese people have no choices to study ther buddhism but only the trationalistic Theravada. Bhikkunis are not allowed as the sanga nearly never talk about Bhikkunis to people. Only White robes nuns are allowed and they don't have enough permissions to work for Sasana if compare to the Male Sanga group. These over 60,390 burmese White robes nuns called Sila-Shin or Meechi in thai language, are waiting for the Theravada Bhikkuni Linage.

The "ordination" in Bhutan was a farce, the extinct Mulasarvastivada lineage cannot be revived from the Bikkshus. A great disappointment pushed by pressure from J.T.Palmo. The Mahayana lineage that lives and can be received perfectly is the Dharmaguptaka of Taiwan.
