    Thanks for this. It showed me more ways to use StepPolyArp and gives me more confidence.

    Take a look at modstep, infinite looper, and genome if you want a sequencer to drive any iOS synth that accepts midi. A great app I recommend to help with midi glitches is Midifire. You can use MidiFire also to use a second iOS device to send midi via Bluetooth. Steppolyarp is amazing but not really meant for simple sequencing. It has an often overlooked feature which is the ability to assign a different midi channel to each row so you can use it to drive up to 11 apps. There is now an AUv3 version of steppolyarp that works great with AUM. I think that with AU and apps like AUM, you do not really need inter app audio anymore. Thanks for the video. Nice to see someone else around my age who is into iPad music making.

    One thing I don’t get in this App, is it possible to enter a sequence or even better an arp from the keys on the keyboard below?
    Great video by the way, easy to follow for a non musical person like myself.

    • @AlmostAviation
      @AlmostAviation  4 года назад +1

      No, entering a sequence with the keyboard doesn't seem to be possible :(

      Almost Aviation ahh ok, I spent quite a long time trying to get that to work. I find that really strange, do you have any recommendations for a similar App that can do this and also drive an external hardware synth via midi ?

    • @AlmostAviation
      @AlmostAviation  4 года назад +1

      Brett M I would like to know the same thing! I tried Genome, which doesn’t seem to. I may look at Modstep. You CAN do it with Quantum, which is a very powerful sequencer but awfully fiddly and kind of old-fashioned in its user interface.

      Almost Aviation if I find anything good I will let you know. I just want something simple for a Noob like me. I might have to code my own.

    • @AlmostAviation
      @AlmostAviation  4 года назад +1

      That doesn't sound very 'nooby'! If you can consider coding your own, you might do well with Quantum.

    These devices were one of the worst things that ever happened in music. Try telling one musician from another that use these devices, it is very hard. e.g. T Dream sound exacly like Mergener or O'Hearn or Rich or Schroeder. Only a handful have a unique sound/voice e.g. Klaus Schulze... even he goes on and on and on.... ad infinitum. Another factor they make non musicians think they ARE musicians. Did I mention the soulless nature of the sound? There is little in the way of creativity with them also. All said and done I do like some electronic music.... it is not ALL bad. Rant mode off.

      AJCN --- What a snob you are... "Non musicians" thinking they are "musicians". Heaven forbid these tools might inspire a "non musician" to create something.

    • @johnnygoodyear270
      @johnnygoodyear270 6 лет назад +1

      A snob? Certainly. An arse? Most definitely. Get on with your own work and worry less about others.

      There are countless ways for musicians to be creative with these sequencers. It’s just another color in the palette, tool in the toolbox, toy in the crib… whatever. They can also just be fun to experiment with. Like anything, the more you put in, the more you get out.
      Thanks, Almost Aviation. There are so many music apps available for the iPad. This inspires me to play with SPA again.

      The worst things happen to music are such posts. I guess pianist also sounds all the same. They must be bad musicians.
