OMG! It's insane that you say that I could not believe that this was not an A24 movie! It fits the criteria perfectly no matter the budget, the way that it's filmed, the cinematography with a large idea!
giving freaky friday (body swaps) meets knives out (whodunnit) and slightly (maybe) edgar wright kind of campy editing. glad that netflix finally back to the roots by going back releasing gen Z-esque movie like fear street or do revenge
What was wrong with this movies layout was that it never deeply fleshed out totally original and clear enough characters in the beginning to make me even CARE what was going to happen to each of them next. I didn't "know the people" by the time they first turned on the machine. It was so confusing when they traded places (even with the red visuals to show us who was actually in each body) because even when i saw who it was, it was just like showing me any other random 20 something party goer. I was not "invested" in the outcome. I became bored because of that fact, and I thought this movie was a huge 'fail' and eventually shut it off, but not before drawing at least 2 valuable conclusions... we should look at Hollywood very carefully when they show us new tech, and wonder what they are implying about the near future, and we should also be very wary of messages that are presented to make our "individuality" seem meaningless or unimportant or totally malliable and the "collective" being pushed on us in very clever and subtle ways as this. (Meaning; All it takes is a machine to turn on, and you are not you anymore, and anyone can easily just take your place in the world. You are not an individual, you are just some dumb brain waves and a meat shell. ) That message is very cleverly embedded in the film imho. Also... Hollywood often does more hinting at what is to come than simply entertaining. If you watch some key movies from 30 years ago and compare them to our present day, they were road maps of where they wanted to take society.
Fuxk that one reply 😂 I fw your take I think that’s the problem with most movies is that u never truly have time to care about characters before drama starts but this movie had a lot of slow motion scenes that could have been replaced with development and backstory for the blonde girl since she was a side character that randomly turned into the main protagonist it’s a very weird movie and hard to rate in my opinion production was solid and concept is really nice but execution is wonky at best
This was so weird and enjoyable and trippy. Definitely a fall movie that kinda falls in syfy thriller horror mystery its definitely a fall season vibes are there. Honestly who ever worked the script on dialogue really understood how friend groups function. Its like give me this midsommer and it's a good evening.
4:15 it's so bizarre to me how “Netflix movie” did a completely 180 as a concept in just a decade, back in 2013 everything they put out was top-notch (OITNB, House of Cards, Sense8, Beasts of No Nation), so sad to see that every company ends up quantity over quality overtime, even HBO/Max is not so “prestige” anymore
It also stands out a mile when a movie is made solely to have on in the background while you scroll through social media, that’s really sad and kind of fvcked up tbh
Thanks for the review! I am going to watch this now. Talk to Me was one of the best horror movies I have seen since When Evil Lurks. Which is also great, go watch either now if you haven't seen either of these modern classics.
I just watched this last night and really liked it!! It was entertaining and also a but confusing at times but i feel like yhat was needed in a "body swap" movie. The ending was okay and I was curious if they were gonna go that way earlier on in the film. Thanks for the review!
That's on my watchlist, you got me intrigued! And I'de really appreciate your revire of Hellboy The Crooked Man if you finally come around to watch it. Have a nice day!
The ending completely ruined what was a fun movie with a cool concept. Completely ridiculous and stupid way to end it especially with the way it was framed as if a certain character got their comeuppance
The movie was great but the ending of Cyrus in jail did not make sense as the evidence doesn't point to a murder because 1Cyrus was high (so if he where to get charge because everyone else lied he was still high as hell and can't take full responsibility for his actions)2The roof fence shows clear signs of hazard as the whole thing is old and crumbling away.3get's backed up by 2 as 2 individuals where having S as their clothes are displaced 4How the f would you convince the cops that someone high did the murder when they where so high they didn't even have their short term memory intact . It would legit be imposable for the cops to charge Cyrus unless he said some dumb # .
This movie failed at the beginning already not giving us time to get to know all these characters not introducing them and showing them in a memorable way thereby the bodyswitch and following plot lines were pointless because us - "the viewer" is clueless and not invested enough in the characters for the movie to be exciting and make sense. Also the dark facepics hanging on their bodies didn't really help much to learn who is who.Not to mention the big wasted opportunity to have a bodyswitcher kill another. I give this movie a 3 out of 5 : Great idea, but bad execution!

I love it
"It doesn't feel like a Netflix movie"...Always a great thing to hear, it means it might not be complete and total garbage.

I cannot fathom to begin to explain just how much i agree with you!!!!

It was so good! I feel like a lot of people never heard about it
That one actor is Adam Driver's Wario
Btw Netflix didn't produce this film guys, they only bought and distributed it after Sundance. That's why it doesnt have that "Netflix" look

it reminded me of "talk to me" and "bodies bodies bodies" completely! it was different and enjoyable enough tho
Loved everything you had to say about this film. Agree with you! The ending ruined it for me though. No point in watching again because of that

It is one of the most entertaining films of the year!
The editing makes it feel like a live action anime tbh
David W. Thompson (Forbes) reminded me a lot of Paul Dano.
Amazing movie! Came together perfectly and made sense
The ending was definitely a disappoint for me but really enjoyed it overall!
thanks i wont bother watching it if the endings no good
yeah thanks for sharing that where people come to see if its worth a watch...
Just watched it. I absolutely loved it! Fantastic feature debut from Greg Jardin on all fronts
It was a little confusing but i liked it

I beat Austin to watching a Netflix movie... Wtf 😊
I wasn’t expecting much but I enjoyed it. Most of all I’m impressed that this is a debut!
That's on my watchlist, you got me intrigued! And I'de really appreciate your revire of Hellboy The Crooked Man if you finally come around to watch it. Have a nice day!
This movie was so confusing but I LOVED it
Haha I feel that!
Are you seeing Saturday Night early?
Are you reviewing the new season of Gyeonseong Creature on Netflix ¿
They should've called "It's What's Isn't Inside". A real tongue twister 😝
This movie was nuts! I loved it
absolute banger
So a different take on Talk to Me?
Funny I just saw this one too, it's similar to Coherence in a way,i agree
the ending was weak, you bring out a character out of nowhere, that's cheap..
Drug Use, call me Hunter and count me in.
Is it better than the deliverance? I havent finished watching it yet 😅
MUCH better lol
This was a fun movie. Loved it!
The outside doesn't get enough attention smh
Hey Austin, who’s your favorite evil movie character who was good all along?
This was so good
The ending completely ruined what was a fun movie with a cool concept. Completely ridiculous and stupid way to end it especially with the way it was framed as if a certain character got their comeuppance
Had the most unlikable characters I've seen in a while, all of them were terrible people right from the first scebe. 4/10

its cuz he confessed to a murder so they have to arrest him. but once he gets a lawyer and able to prove his innocence he will get out

Dont watch the new hellboy movie
